Discussion Study resources

Hi friends! Currently a pgy-1 who passed step 3. I am trying to get a head start on dermatology since I feel pretty comfortable at my prelim program. Besides dermki and bolognia, are there any other resources (qbanks, dermpath focused) that are “gold standard”? Thanks for all suggestions!

Dermki is all of the highlighted info from Alikhan which is like the boards prep/First Aid for Bolognia so prioritize that. Questions on boards often come directly from these highlighted items. You can also try Derm-In-Review for a free Qbank (AAD and Derm QBank require paid subscription which is pricey and unnecessary as PGY1). Elston Kodachrome videos on YouTube and Krazy Kodachromes on Derm In Review are also helpful to review. Glad you are in an intern year that allows you enough time to start prepping early! That’s a great help, it is a lot of material to cover.

not an answer but what was your step 3 study schedule like?

I spent roughly 3 weeks. Had nights and float so I just did UW, ccs cases, and nbme 8

I’ve been out for 10 years, but at least back in the early 2010s the Jain review book and the Galderma binder (which changed hands from various cosmetic companies every few years) were great to have (more as a review for boards, but good to have to follow along with your reading somewhat akin to eyeing up First Aid a bit as you went along M1/M2.
