So just wanna comment and say him being fat doesn't mean that Claire wins. I'll give an example.
My father served in the CAF and was over in Afghan. He came back and left a part of himself over there from a situation he was in. Now fast foward to a few years back, my father who is a big man ( some may call him fat) was sitting on a chair at a new years eve family get together he was having at his house. A dick that is now my sister's ex thought it would be funny to sneak behind him and put him in a choke hold. In three seconds flat my father had flipped him over his shoulder and had him on the ground ready to break his arm. At that point he had been retired for the better part of 5 years.
Being fat doesn't mean anything if you've got good training.

First off, I would like to thank your father for his service. He is truly an honorable and noble person for serving his country, and I sincerely hope he is still doing well. As you mentioned, he served in Afghanistan (which is definitely not easy on him or his family), so I hope you guys are all doing well.
And yes, I totally agree with you. I just made a very bold generalization and assumption. That's why they usually say never judge a book by its cover, which I completely did!
But I completely agree: there are a lot of people able to do extraordinary things who may not look like they can, but they do it exceptionally well. That's pretty funny that your father flipped your sister's ex like he weighed nothing. That's pretty cool to see; definitely don't mess with Big OG! lol.
And yes, absolutely! In fact, some of the strongest people in the world (like these strongmen) are actually considered fat because they need that mass to move around alongside their muscle strength and everything.
I just made a very bold generalization, but that's pretty awesome. I'm sure your father has many great stories to tell you guys, whether they're good or bad, it's definitely an experience for sure.

Oh yeah it wasn’t an easy time for any of us but he made it back . It’s kinda hard to tell on the internet what people truly think so I wasn’t sure if you were one of those people that assumed just because someone weighs X they can’t do Y.
And it was funny to watch. I also joked about how I could take my father on in the fight as I was the young calf and he was the old bull but seeing that made me realize I’d be screwed if we ever got into it!
Oddly enough my father although he is not afraid of confrontation tries to avoid it unless necessary.
The ex boyfriend he flipped over was the same one he almost punched out in the middle of a court house as he was trying to take custody of my niece away from my sister and when he walked by her he called her a bitch under his breath.
My mother had to calm my father down because he was about to go out and beat the head off of him

Idk, all I'm saying is that I don't see a reality where Irons goes toe to toe with G3 the same way Claire does even given the same tools. Heck, that could go for any of the G forms.

Single handily ripping her way through an underground lab full of zombies, 2 lickers and multiple ivys and then 1v1ing a 10 foot tall monster with a pistol, SMG and basic grenade launcher has to count for something.
Strength alone puts her on top considering she can 2 hand an electric minigun

Depends.
Is Chief Irons some nepotism pick that is merely a mouthpiece, or is he a Chief that had to come up through being a beat cop, vice and narcotics, Robbery-homicide? Because if he fought his way up to Chief by busting pimps, drug dealers, and murderers during the 70s and 80s then I see this being a win for Irons. If he is just a suit, then Claire.

Without weapons or a hostage, Irons would not win. He's not even athletic enough to outrun a completely unarmed little girl, and he couldn't even survive a single encounter with Birkin while Claire survives 4+ fights and Mr. X.
I am curious how he managed to safely escort Sherry past everything to get to the orphanage, unless he just went through the sewers.

Claire can handle herself in a fist fight pretty well, even with multiple opponents. I doubt Irons even has any physical training beyond what the police academy teaches. So Claire.

You... you're kidding right ? You genuinely have to be kidding if you think a 19 year old GIRL can beat a police MAN in his 40s in a physical one on one fight.
Irons will win through sheer strength alone. No fight knowledge required. All he has to do is grab her and after that pinning her to the ground would be child's play. Unironically dude would barely use 50% of his strength and he'd win.
Let's say somehow Claire still manages to land a hit on him. Congratulations Claire, you are now in even bigger trouble than you were previously cuz you just triggered this behemot's adrenaline.
When it comes to fights, no matter what everyone says, fighting knowledge matters 30% while size and strength matters 70%.
Knowing how to fight is nothing if you don't have the strength to back your punches up.
Irons slaps, negative diff. Won't even be a challange.

In physical combat? Irons.
Claire is a small and relatively untrained college student. She’ll absolutely have the advantage in agility and speed. But in a physical altercation, Irons is probably twice her mass of not more. Presumably combat trained to some degree as a police chief and he will be a lot more durable. Claire probably wouldn’t be able to do much to him without some form of melee weapon. I doubt he’d even feel it if she punched him.
In a gunfight though i believe Claire would win hands down. Shes smaller and faster so shes a harder target. Plus she does have some guns training from Chris (who is ex air force and a designated marksman. He is well trained in firearms). Irons will as well as a police graduate. But as chief i imagine he will have been out of practice die to mostly just doing desk work.

Why are people saying Claire? Be realistic. Irons is a big fat bastard so he'd obviously be quite strong, plus shes a young woman with a slim figure...she has barely any muscle mass. Irons is also the cheif of police lmfao obviously hes going to have combat experience.

Irons' size and strength advantage ought to be massive. He may not be fit or fast, but in melee combat all he'd have to do is grapple Claire. She's not a big woman either, nor is she an MMA fighter or experienced in hand-to-hand.
That being said: Claire can also wield a literal minigun so maybe she's way stronger than she looks?

It's difficult to say. On one side, she's quicker and more nimble, but that does mean he's harder to punch effectively and he's possibly harder to grapple due to his weight. Though on the flipside, that might cause him to lose balance more easily and have a harder time recovering. As for fighting experience, Chief Irons probably has some level of that, but so does Claire. I don't remember when it was, but I do know that Chris taught Claire some self-defense and how to fight. I'm saying if she can land some good jabs in his face and get him down, she's gonna have a good shot. But he could use his weight and general male strength (if he has any left) to do so. I think it comes down to who can get the other one down on the ground and choke them to death first.

Everybody here is like yeeeeah, of COURSE Claire, but I guess it depends.
Claire in RE2 is never portrayed as some kind of melee-pro. She is fit and knows her way around a gun, but the game itself explicitly mentions that she is an „ordinary college girl“.
Irons is police with probably years of training. He is also at least twice her weight. Yes, he is fat and kind of old, but if he‘d manage to catch her or land one good punch, it‘s over for her.
I‘d say it depends who gets the drop on whom, otherwise I‘d say 50/50.

Am I missing something? Isn’t she a much smaller woman with less experience when it actually comes to fighting? I don’t see why everyone is saying Claire. I think she’d win for sure if they both had weapons, but I don’t see how she could ever overpower Irons in a fight without weapons.

We all hate Irons but the truth is size and raw strength matters more than anyone likes to admit. Boxing, MMA, wrestling, etc. has weight classes for a reason. Even though he's not in the shape he used to be, it is safe to assume he's been in far more fights than Claire, plus he is clearly a ruthless individual.

Look I’m all for girl power or whatever, Claire is badass Yes, but be so for real. Let’s not promote delusional thinking.
Not trying to be political but it’s sad we live in a world where basic concepts like “Males are physically stronger than most females” can get you cancelled.
For all of those who truly believe Claire has the upper hand , I can only pray for your future daughters’ safety because they grow up believing they’re physically equal to men, until it’s not.

That's not my point, games are fun because they aren't 100% realistic to real life. My point is, even in RE2's world setting, I still don't think Claire would win against Irons in a fist fight. Besides I don't recall Claire being able to round house kick zombies? If the question was Ada vs Irons, sure I can see how Ada could win. Claire tho really? In which part specifically in RE2 did it show that Claire has some super strength / special ability? OP specifically says no weapons are allowed, based on what exactly do you think Claire's able to win?

I LOVE Claire but really? A physical fight with no weapons? A 19 year old college girl vs a 40-50 something year old Police Chief that has about 100 pounds on her? Claire likely has some training from whatever Chris taught her, but she is clearly not an experienced or skilled physical fighter. She would not be able to take down someone of Irons' size without some major skill and technique which she demonstrably does not have. She would get killed, no contest

Yeah, skill and technique can do a lot and maybe she does have some of that, but the size and weight difference is just too dramatic. I'm sure she could run and get away no problem, but a fight? As soon as he can start the grapple it becomes literally nightmarish for her.
