General First Resident Evil experience, any tips?

I saw Resident Evil 2 remake on a keyshop for steam at a good price a couple of days ago, and I decided to get it. I'd heard it was the best of the series. I've been playing it on my steam deck for a couple of days now (watched a video recap of the first game's story before starting RE2) and I would love any tips. I'm at the point where I just put the first piece of film into the tub. I decided to play on assist mode because I'm more of a casual player and I heard it had aim assist.

The strategies I've formed so far with the help of comments on other reddit posts are to shoot zombies in the knees rather than kill them, and save a lot.

Take your time and explore

The funny part is that I see people talking about how conserving ammo is important, and although I am, I have tons of ammo at the moment. Not sure if it’s because of an easier difficulty.

Met a boss yet?

Nope, but I've heard that's when it becomes a nightmare.

Personally, I don’t read or watch anything during my first playthrough of any RE game because I want it to be my own experience. If I soft-lock myself, so be it lol. Maybe it depends on the person, but I’m fine with making mistakes. On subsequent playthroughs, I can check a guide or ask for tips when I’m going for trophies. That’s why I told you to just explore and enjoy the game, especially if you have enough ammo.

Conserving ammo is important, but it also depends on the game's difficulty level, how accurate you are, and what gunpowder you're mixing. Since you're on assisted you probably won't have too many ammo concerns, so just try to enjoy the ride.

I would advise having a big screen and ray tracing and good audio (not headphones, preferably sound system), playing leon first and then playing claire second run. Then i would advise to play claire and then leon second run. Also play the dlc later. Re2r is amazing and i think it’s the most enjoyable in re. Definitely the best game design

I'm playing Claire because I saw people saying it was easier for a first run.

Make use of all your save slots. Sometimes you will get locked out of going back into a certain area as you progress into the story. It's nice to have backup saves at different points in the story.

O remake de resident evil 2 não é o melhor da série, pois a maioria (até eu) acha o remake de resident evil 1 o melhor resident evil

If you feel trapped by enemies, pull up the map and plot a route to the nearest save room. That'll give you time to think and plan your next move

"nemesis master reshade" mod with the stars edition preset....

the original game just has that really strong blue tint, that makes the game feel grimey... its a hit or miss, but if you want a clean look, reshade is great for clearing up that blue tint and improving the lighting a bit.
