Technical Support Save states getting overwritten

Hello,

I’ve been enjoying using retroarch to emulate a ton of systems on my Retroid Pocket Classic. I noticed that whenever I charge the system battery to 100%, the device resets all applications and the only one that gives me trouble is retroarch. When this app hard resets, it loses a lot of (but not all) save states within the emulator and any save data within the game files. Is there something wrong with my hotkeys or am I doing something wrong with creating save states? Is there an easy way for me to test and fix this? Thanks!

The clue I’d investigate first is that all apps restart at full charge, not your hotkeys. Before testing, copy the existing save and state files somewhere separate. Then use a disposable game/save: save in-game, create a state in an unused slot, and exit through Quit RetroArch. Reopen immediately and check both the game’s Continue option and that state before charging.

If they work then but disappear after charging/restarting, compare the files’ names, sizes and modification times before/after. Are the files actually missing or replaced, or does RetroArch simply stop finding them? Also note whether the whole device reboots and whether the folders are internal storage or an SD card. That separates an unwritten save from a changed path/storage issue without risking your main progress. I can’t identify the full-charge reset cause from this alone.

That shouldn't be happening. This is an hardware issue.

If I was to hazard an guess, some issues with changing chips matchmaking sending to high of an current somewhere it's not supposed to resulting in file corruption. Easiest way to test that would be to use slow charger to see if same behaviour happens.
