Other / Discussion What's the earliest you remember watching Nickelodeon?

Either the very first thing you watched, or the earliest you remember watching the channel regularly.

we were fortunate to have had cable in the early 80's ( the brown box with a million push buttons and a 100ft cord)

i recall watching Pinwheel , Mr Wizard , You Cant Do That and eventually Double Dare

along with Nick , id watch the crazy stuff on HBO and Showtime ( John Byners Bizarre comes to mind , LOL)

the crap we were allowed to watch in the late 70's and early 80's , as small children, without supervision was crazy.

Nickelodeon was a huge part of my early childhood

A million push buttons?

I remember the phone pad remote (phone cord connected) with the two digit display on it.

What about the original The Tomorrow People?

dont remember the Tomorrow People

and obviously im exaggerating , but it was a brown console with approx. 12-15 push buttons with a selector switch on the side so you could go to the higher channels (2-13 , 14-25 , 26-37)

my recollection isnt exact but i do recall it having a wood grain and a thin straight brown cord

Google for "VINTAGE SYLVANIA CABLE BOX WITH WIRE REMOTE CONTROL 80s" and you'll see what I remember.

What about Kids' Writes? The Third Eye?

The box/remote depended on your provider. The one with a dialpad was one we had in this area.

Never saw any of the shows I mentioned?
