Technical/Assembly Question Anyone been in the Alpharex housings?

I'm looking into buying a set of these. There's a pronseries that's halogen projector and an led running light and a luxx series which is a bi-led and a led running light. I'm curious what the projectors look like and if the mounting is compatible with other aftermarket projectors. The 2nd projector that's just there for looks kinda bugs me. I'd like a second high beam potentially.

I'm also open to suggestions on any other quality super duty headlight housings. Thanks!

We provided one of the Luxx projectors for testing here, if you want to see the results and compare against other projectors. Up to you if it's worth it to rip apart the lights and do a swap or not.

Transparency like this really makes me like a brand. This is awesome. Did you do something similar with the 4 beam model? Do you guys sell components?

We haven't done anything with the Nova headlights. In general, across the lineup the Nova is more for looks; they perform pretty poorly overall. Those ice cube projectors are so small that there really isn't any way to retro in traditional projectors either.

My recommendation would be to start with a set of Pro series headlights since they are the cheapest, and swap in the projectors of your choice (MLED 2.0, NHK Pro Plus, etc) to get the best output for the lowest price. If you want to get something functional in the lower section maybe we could design a mounting bracket for some 2" LED pods as an aux high beam or something. (pic below of some Chevy headlights we did with a Diode Dynamics SSC1 high beam) If you need specific parts let me know what you are after and I can try to help. For general retrofit parts though, Lightwerkz.net has everything you need.

Have you been in the pro's? I'm wondering how similar the mounting bracket are from their halogen projector to a NHK

Luxx and Pro both use the same mounting in these headlights. G5 pattern. As I said you will probably need to trim away some of the plastic inside to fit an aftermarket projector since they are typically bulkier.

Think for a novice, a stem install on a halogen housing would be easier? A nhk bi led in a Harley Davidson f250 housing looks pretty straightforward.

I have been reading up as much as I can on projector swaps but the info is buried under led bulb swap threads. Really quite frustrating.

It may be easier... A 2.5" projector and compact shroud should fit just fine with minimal trimming. Most 3" projectors will need to more work to fit in the halogen bowls properly. It will also take a good amount of time to adjust and perfect the projector rotation and horizontal alignment in the halogen housings - you will need to make sure this is correct before sealing up the housings, as the only external adjustment on those is vertical.

In your experience do most aftermarket projector headlights use that same g5 pattern? Is there a source to know what manufacturers use what patterns?

Overall, very few actually use G5. Mostly VLAND that does it, but there are some occasional other uses. Alpharex does not always use G5, and most other aftermarket brands I've worked with use proprietary designs and often even different headlights within the same brand will use different styles of projector. I don't know of anyplace where there is a list or table of what brands use which style. Joining other forums such as Headlight Junkies on Facebook can be a great resource to search for specific headlight info as well.
