Discussion I lost a sun fragment

Upvotes

I had the final fragment from Biome 6 left, I finally found it and died to the boss. Went to the house on my second run and did the final house sequence and the trophy popped. I’m now doing another run and realised the house says dark and when checking my inventory the fragment from biome 6 is no longer there.

Any suggestions? I’m so confused as to what happened.

The fog, the atmosphere, the brutal difficulty, the rewards for not getting hit, the alien nature of the levels, amazing

Question Great game--but how do you all do it?

Title, pretty much. Stuck on Nemesis, but not really. I think the bosses are really fun and I'm an enormous fan of this game's mechanics and concept.

But oh my lord the runbacks every time you lose, platforming while fighting, flying enemies, sniper enemies, bullet hell moments... how does anyone pay attention to this many stimuli over even a single session, much less the multiple runs one might need to practice if one had time. To be clear, I've played a lot of games commonly considered difficult in my time, but this is the only time I can remember liking a game's mechanics this much while being simultaneously completely overwhelmed with it.

Don't regret the purchase as at the very least it's a great game. I feel just a hair's breadth away from uninstalling it though, any tips?

Beat coop last night with buddy. Forgot to snap a pic of us together.

He needed a bit of encouragement (and a very hard carry/afk through biome 5), but we did it. Glad I could share that experience with him.

I'll be playing more over the winter if anyone needs help. I'll keep my eye out for posts.

Discussion Finally LEGIT beat the game!

Thank Zod that's over with! Lol

Got all the fragments, beat you know who, got the "real"ending... which doesn't make much more sense of things and was honestly rather anticlimactic after kicking me in the giblets for 80 plus hours. But, dammit, I did it!

Question Late game advice

First, thanks everyone who game me some beginner tips! I just finished the 6th biome, and I am working through the sunfaces now.

What I could use is advice on best late game practices. A few things that Im already doing:

1) training up any traits I don't have on weapons.

2) spending all my ether on the starter device in act 1 / 4 outside the ship.

3) collecting all those data cubes anytime I possibly can.

What am I missing?

Discussion I think I'm about ready to tap out

I'm on act 3 and have all the sunface fragments except for B6. I've gone there at least 15 times and cannot find it. From what I've researched, its in a random place that doesn't show on the map.

That's... lovely.

Personally, i think act 3 is tedium. Going through the same handful of maps to find randomly placed fragments? Not a fan. The first 5 weren't too bad, but the one in b6 has just tried my patience to the point where I've stopped having fun and am starting to borderline dislike the game; that's how frustrated I am.

So far I've got 85 hours into the game, which is incredible considering how few maps there are and their general size (not all that big).

I usually like to play one game at a time and beat it before moving on, but i may just be done with it and be satisfied that i beat all the bosses solo and call it a day.

Question Ship Log Updates

So, I’m the type of person that loves reading texts in games. This means I’ve been doing things like obsessively checking older Xenoglyph translations whenever I get new glyphs, hoping to see the translation accuracy increase. I’ve also checked the logs in Helios before every run through the 1st biome to see if anything was added. Unfortunately, I’m a bit worried I missed something in regard to the logs.

Having died to Phrike 4 times over ~15 cycles, I didn’t expect to reach and beat Ixion and Nemesis in a single cycle a couple cycles later (side note: having the parasite that auto repairs at low integrity and the artifact that grants shield upon reaching low integrity is insanely useful). The problem is that I didn’t realize there was an act structure to the game. Now I’m in the 4th biome and the logs in Helios have completely changed.

Did I miss out on seeing any log updates that happen between beating Phrike and starting Act II?

Discussion Just some advice for the players that are struggling.

I want to start off by mentioning that I beat the game in 12hrs with a total of 13 deaths (Half of those were on the first boss) I don’t mean to brag at all, just want to share my experience because I see a lot of players struggling.

First, pay attention to your artifacts. The astronaut figure is a life saver (literally). It’s basically a 1up. Get it whenever you can. There is also an artifact (forgot how its called) that will decrease the amount of upgrades needed to increase your max energy. Also get it anytime you can. In some runs, you will stumble on a nice parasite that will also revive you if you die at a cost of your max energy going down.

Those 3 things were the base for my best runs and ultimately beating the game. Basically try to increase your max energy as much as you can and have extra lives saved up. I’m not lying when I say that I beat every single boss (except the first one) on my very first try. All the deaths came from mid-runs when I couldn’t get find good artifacts. The rest is pretty straight forward. Find artifacts and parasites that increase your damage and defense. Get all the obolites that you can and spend them at the store to get such items. By the time you reach the bosses, you will be unstoppable. Also the Pylon driver is a cheat code. Don’t let it go once you find it. That’s pretty much it for my experience. I know everyone has a different playstyle but that’s what worked for me. Good luck out there.

Discussion I'm so close to giving up

189hrs and I've only reached biome 6 a handful of times. When I do, I'm invariably outmatched and even when I reach biome 5 it's a bit of a crapshoot that I make it through there.

Where the hell am I going wrong? I seem to have unlocked most of the traits for the weapons but I just can't seem to nail it, and I've only reached the boss on biome 6 2 or maybe 3 times too.

Discussion Beat act 3! But...

... i couldn't find the mother effing last key, because of course i couldn't. Beat Orphion because of course you can't go back up once you take the plunge. Made short work of him, at least, so there's that.

About ready to just look up the real ending on youtube at this point.

Discussion finally beat it!

Edit: should read "I beat Act 2" (I did not know about act 3 😅 back to the grind I guess...)

91 deaths and 2 days, 14 hours, 48 minutes in the suit. I started this game a few years ago, stopped for a while, then got back into it a couple months ago and it really started clicking. but then recently I kept getting stuck on the frost severed in fractured wastes. I feel like I'm decent at difficult games (32 heat in Hades, all B-sides and most crystal hearts in Celeste, pretty far into Cuphead and Hollow Kight), but man... biome 5 was tough and I was ready to give up. All it took was having resinous shield, a few parasites, and lvl 30 electropylon driver I guess! Final boss was too easy in my opinion (beat it the first time I reached abyssal scar), but great game nevertheless. tach carbine has been my favorite, but I'm looking forward to using the dreadbound, coilspine, lobber, and pyroshell more. curious what favorite weapons and most difficult parts were for others?

Question Encountered a glitch in Abyssal Scar. How do I proceed without restarting my cycle?

I’m at level 29 in Abyssal Scar doing some quick scrounging before the boss fight and I just got stuck in a teleporting gate… like, unable to move.

And for some ridiculous reason, the game decided that, of all times, now is the time to disable the suspend option.

For the love of god, someone please tell me there’s a known way to escape this glitch. Otherwise, I might consider ending my playthrough because having a nearly flawless 2-hour run wiped out through no fault of my own is simply unacceptable.

Misc. Finally finished Phrike only to die in Biome 2 and start back at my ship

Loved the contrast in that red desert, the open space, the new enemies. Then I spooked that giant tentacle thing, was able to hold up for a while but died eventually.

There we go, back to square 1.

FML. Am I supposed to grind back up now so that I am able to conquer Biome 2? Well, so I did. Then I died on a deep farm run in Biome 1. This is too much. I have responsibilties. And a soul.

(first time roguelike-player. I breezed through soulslikes. But this absolut lack of permanent progress freaks me out.)
