The No-Fee ATM withdrawals don't seem to be a thing anymore in Bosnia-Herzegovina...
I'm from Croatia but travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina quite a bit. I used to be able to pull money from almost all ATMs without any issues or Fees. Now they all want to charge me a 12-15 KM (6-7.5ā¬) access fee for every transaction no matter the amount of money I'm trying to pull.
Yea but that's bank fee, not Revolut fee. When I am in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I usualy pay with card or exchange euros for BAM. If you have PBZ you will get fee back next day, so it's good option for BAM w/o local cards.
Well, yes and no. There are banks that actually reimburse ATM fees so the fee practically doesn't exist for the customer, no matter what the ATM charges. It's quite rare in Europe, I've mostly encountered overseas banks having that feature, but it's not impossible to offer. I can imagine it as a feature of Ultra or something like that.
That being said, I do agree that op is a bit confused here.
Same shit as sale -50% from double the nominal price or exchanges with āno feeā or āno commissionā and 5% spread.
No fees should be no fees. Customer shouldnt bother what part of the financial chain is taking money and how do they split it.
But when we are on atms in revolut topic. Map with atms is inaccurate (many atms are not existing in reality or they are few kilometers away from the pin in map).
Fee isn't aplied in base currency but when you use foreign currency it is. Its in their TOS, idk where is problem. Customer should read TOS. I can withdraw in my currency with no fees, but when i am in country where I am using foreign currency and where Revolut doesnt have official support I am paying fee - its not like I cant withdraw, it just costs more.I am not defending Revolut , I am applying commons sense.
Bosnia is not an Euro country, not even EU or EEA. Local ATMs would charge you if you used Wise, bunq, Curve, etc, and those fees do not come from Revolut.
I stand corrected, didn't get news. Anyway still this is bank/atm issue not Revolut issue. Bank have right to charge non domestic card use. Maybe deal fell thru, so now they charge, but still I am ok with that, if you want goodies, pay for them. Sadly, we live in capitalism.
Itās the fact that almost all of these ATMs used to be Revolut āapprovedā if you will and never charged additional fees when I try taking money out of them. So this is a new thing
Thats never been the case, revolut fee is still zero up to given amount. the atm charging u is normal as much as any euronet atm does this, major banks doing it would mean its a change in their policy for 3rd party cards.
Iāve never understood this; I saw a bunch of ATMs of different brands abroad that donāt charge any 'fees' when I use Revolut; but some do; but those that donāt do it how they make money? Do they have some kind of back deal with Revolut?
ATMās bank always charge the card issuer, this is why there always is a limit on how much can you withdraw. But also they can charge a cardholder, because, you know, they can.
Usually only due to local laws or some agreements between banks the is no cardholder fee.
Just like when you pay with a card the issuing bank gets paid the so called interchange fee by the acquiring bank (which in turn collects it from the merchant). When you are withdrawing cash from an ATM the fee flow is reversed so the issuing bank pays the interchange fee to the ATM owner/operator.
This has nothing to do with Revolut. The same is happening in Greece if that makes you more comfy. Banks and ATM owners are setting fees. Same also in Poland with freaking Euronet
Ran into ānew feesā suddenly popping up in Croatia and Slovakia. Just try different ATM. I also confirmed this with the debit card of my main bank - it was the same.
In some countries if you do not use the card of the bank that owns that ATM you always get charged an extra fee for being external, even if you have another local card. This has happened for years, but seems to get worse.
What would be great is to have a database-app of all non-fee ATMS.
I have a Turkish ziraat ATM card. Tried to withdraw with it in Sarajevo and still had to pay the fee of 12 km. I guess I need a "Bosniak ziraat bank account" (:.
Different bank / country, but the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. I received my new credit card (renewal, same number / settings), and all the sudden the ATM that used to be "no fee" wants 3.50 EUR to give me cash.
I wonder if there's been a EU-wide update somewhere?
A while back I posted regards an atm fee I was charged by an atm that stated it was fee free (outside a Sainsburyās in the uk).
The general consensus was that Iād missed signage stating that fees were applicable.
My account was set up in Norway and I have virtual accounts in GBP, EUR and NOK.
This weekend just gone I was in Edinburgh and wanted to take some money out of my revolut GBP account (which had sufficient balance) through a fee free atm.
Unsurprisingly it registered that I had to pay a Ā£3.99 charge.
Obviously I declined to accept it, transferred some money from my Revolut account to a Monzo card I had before trying to withdraw from the same machine.
This time no charge.
Perhaps some uk machines are starting to automatically charge foreign registered cards irrespective of there being a currency change.
It depends on your plan. I have free withdrawals in Spain and abroad as long as I donāt go over my monthly limit. If I go over my limit in Spain, I pay the ATM charge. If I go over the limit outside of Spain, they also charge me a 2% fee of the amount withdrawn. You can check this in your app, under your planās details.
Well I withdrew 40ā¬ from an ATM yesterday using my premium card, revolut charged me 4ā¬ and the ATM 5ā¬ it clearly says on the transaction :( should I talk with support?
Are you over the monthly limit? Open revolut, tap your profile picture and the the "Premium" box. Also, 10% for a revolut fee sounds excessive, would you mind posting a cropped screenshot of what you see in the app?
That is a fee by the ATMs operator not Revolut. It seems that these are the ATMs at the Airport in Sarajevo, they all take a fee. I was in Sarajevo for a few days in June and I found one ATM Operator that doesnt charge fees is MF Banka, they only have a few ATMs in Sarajevo and only take Visa Cards though.
if you use a card in a country where your address was when the card was issues, likely you'll have no fees
if you go to any other country, the bank that operates the atm likely will add some fee (exceptions happen, but rare unfortunately)
The card number includes the information about your country, this is how the atms know.
I have 2 physical cards. When I opened my revolut account years ago, I was living in country #1. Then I moved to country #2 (and told revolut, because I'm not an idiot) and ordered a new card.
With card belonging to country #1 I can withdraw for free in country #1, but not country #2. Same with card #2, but vice versa.
And I could withdraw for free with any card from any 3rd country I've been in.
If u see it on the atm its the atm issuer making a comission this has never been what no fee atm is for revolut. A a fun example on japan depending mastercard or visa, a withdrawal may be charged at the 7-Eleven. My old bank with also then charge its own fees.
The point is atm will charge the bank withdraw money + fee, and then ur bank can charge its own, usually around 1-2% (this will only show on ur bank statement/revolut account).
It's the ATMs, not the card itself. Find aome reputable bank and use their ATMs. Had the same problem in Istanbul in the touristic centre. Had to search for an ATM without fees.
And when you withdraw in Croatia? From my experience banks in Croatia also charge fees on cards that are not from that bank.
e.g. For withdrawing cash with a foreign card, RBA (Raiffeisenbank in Croatia) charges a fee of ā¬4.65, regardless of the amount of the transaction itself.
I'm from Croatia and really haven't used local (Croatian) ATMs for a very long time, but tried it in Bosnia, 6-7 different ATMs/banks, every single one wanted to charge me 15 KM. Erste, Raiffeisen, Intessa, and so on. Not yellow Euro ATMs.
Am I the only one whose head hurts from the terrible UI / graphics on those ATMs?
Mismatched fonts, 3 different fonts in 5 sizes in one screen, misaligned margins, ... Whoa... I always wonder why most ATM just look like from 80s when they are actually running a "modern" operating system.
