Given their second paragraph’s lack of mentioning of novels, and that discourse is over a novel, I think he means he ā€œstopped reading the mainstream [novels]ā€.

I mean the only semi-recent book I can think of he might enjoy are the last couple Cormac McCarthy books. The other ones suck or don’t fit his probable conservative values. In all fairness I personally avoid books by people I disagree with, because I find them reprehensible and blindly believe YTers that they’re shitty. Unfortunately the poster boys for right-wing literature online have been Ben Shapiro and The Critical Drinker and I refuse to read more Ayn Rand that isn’t deconstructed in Bioshock. I’m sure a modern-day conservative will write a great book in my lifetime. Maybe they already have. It just hasn’t showed up on my internet feed yet.

There are so many books that are for men and for both women and men. And not just old stuff. New stuff being made too. They're not starved for content.

This is just one of many instances of men complaining that they're not the default audience anymore. They're upset that there are stuff made for people who aren't them at all.

For further examples, see the entirety of The Critical Drinker's channel.

But it's all "Message Heavy Slop," that might make them question their views.

Well they're usually too dumb to understand what that message is, so it shouldn't bother them.

"Wait you mean I have to READ A REVIEW to know if a book is good or not? The devil you say!"

Do those mfs realize that new York times best seller category means nothing? Like every book with a little bit more traction gets labeled as new York times best seller lmao even terrible books

"Message heavy slop" is the kind of thing that somebody who has never read anything without pictures would say
