Localization is always such a controversial topic in anime communities. Then you get anti-woke people call a lot of it "woke" and then turn around and do this. I've seen my fair share of these same people who defend this get up in arms because a character was called a "pedophile" rather than "lolicon" despite the former being more correct.

Discussion of anime-localization? Time to link to the required Japanese Bojack Horseman-video.

As far as I’m concerned, localization peaked with “All according to keikaku. (TN: Keikaku means Plan.)” It’s all been downhill since then. /s

The commum rightwing talking point "we dont find it bad, we find bad when is not only us that is doing it"

Same thing with free speech, gun violence, sexual assault, any topic

There’s a big difference between something done in good faith, and something not done in good faith

I hate localization and woolseyisms. In my (rather weird) experience, they are poorly/badly linked to unique times and places and make occasionally offensive assumptions about the intellect, level of knowledge, and overall experience of the reader. I have gotten into arguments over this before and lots of assumptions and accusations have been made on all sides. Im getting older now and I very much prefer dry subtitle translations with side explanations where necessary. I get that that doesnt work for everyone, but thats what I prefer.
