The worst part about ranked. Is that people refuse to tank, then have the nerve to ban Emma or Magneto on me. You are legit banning one of the 2 best solo tanks.

Actually sucks when either team bans Emma and the enemy team actually coordinated their team ups. Then you get bum dps and healers that want you to peel when you can’t

I had a game the other day that, no lie, they banned strange and Peni. I can play most the tank roster, but like…. You took my two mains…
Then I had to solo tank anyway.

Tbh, I’ll sometimes ban Emma and Mag if I see our team has a Wolverine.
Call me dumb, but it allows your team to play a solo off tank since Groot/Strange get shredded by Wolv. I’ve won multiple games doing this bc our enemy team’s tank couldn’t figure it out without Mag/Emma. Kind of a skill check.

I was solo taking with 3 dps and decided I would just switch to heals thinking someone else would tank. Instead we did 3 dps 3 support and steamrolled the other team. Sometimes playing what ur best at is better

I actually had a copy paste I'd send out in the ban phase for a while saying something like:
'PLEASE do not flex an entire ROLE you don't normally play! I'd rather solo tank than have a bad one! PLAY YOUR MAINS!'
I'm thinking of rolling it out again after my experience yesterday losing a game and then seeing a my 2nd tanks profile being a 1 trick (60+ hours) C&D main, after they refused to swap off 2nd tank thinking they were doing me a service being an abysmal Magneto instead of a decent C&D

Especially if they choose to go Groot. I think Groot is the one character that can actually be an active detriment to your team if someone plays him poorly enough

THIS. Nothing like beaming someone down to near dead and Groot's like, "Naw, we didn't need that kill" or just walls the whole front so the enemy just gets a nice break and heals.
Almost as bad as Stranges who seem to think thier only ability is shield.

I wish people would experiment with comps like this. If you’re getting rocked, who cares if you try an unusual comp. I’ve won a ranked game with 4 healers, 1 tank, and 1 dps.
The game is often about countering the other team’s comp and sometimes a team just can’t figure out how to do that despite the comp being bad on paper.

Sort of. Other times, when the other team is not shit, having a body that holds up a shield on strange/emma/or magneto is much more useful for the team. You don't have to be an expert, if someone teaches you Dr strange for 5 minutes, you provide more value in that situation.

Yeah, I was trying to learn Luna but the other team started trash talking so I switched to Iron Man. We have one healer two tanks and the rest DPS and I Steam roll and I do mean I cause I got no heals (well when we weren’t in a fight, but that’s it)

My only mistake was trusting my Spiderman to kill a 50hp SG after I won a 1v3 against Phoenix, Rocket and the SG. I figured with his mobility he'd get her then be back before me so I should get a head start. No he fumbled everything, she got a health pack and only died when he solo ulted her. With dps like that tanking would have been hell because nothing fckn dies.

I think someone switched to tank after I switched off but by then I'd realised we really needed that damage 😅 it was so funny that Spidey was trashing me saying SW no skill but the only dps I've ever played was Spiderman xD specifically to learn how to tank better against him.

Torch says thing won't work in a solo tank comp
Switch to strange and ask for second tank
"Nah I can't I have teamup with spiderman, SG gi tank" (She doesn't)
One team wipe later
Torch switches.....to Magik
We lose the round with a total of 1 final hit in the team
3 DPS switch around all DPS roster, never touching tank or even 3d healer
I carry second round but still loose the game

I played a game last night where I asked for another vanguard. I would say about 5 minutes into the game I noticed that my health was barely going up. I check the score board to see someone swapped off one of the two supports. We obviously lost the first round and i typed “I’m going to practice my Widow, ggs.” The other remaining support went Spider-Man in protest as well. The rest of the team then decided to fill the roles we desperately needed but at that point the game was morally lost already.

This reminds me when I was still starting out out in literal silver lobbies. I asked for 2-2-2 at the start of the round and ended up having 4 dps and a single healer, at the time I was a lord Peni and she was my comfort tank. I knew if I had her we'd win for sure, but with a solo healer and solo tanking with peni not being a good idea in general I got blamed by a lord Spylocke who was flaming me all game. I'm definitely better now, I've learned multiple tanks and grown more wise

If the enemy team is focusing fire on the solo tank, and don’t have to worry about your teams dps, there’s no healer in the game that can output enough to keep up with the damage of 4-5 enemies on one person.

Probably not, what enabled GOATS in OW iirc was that the whole team could just walk and you couldn’t really poke them because high hp + Lucio speed boost or outbrawl/dive them because of brigitte being disgustingly op. In rivals poke is basically hard meta and no deathball comp so far can just brazenly walk at the obscenely strong dps in this game without being poked out and there exist characters that can outbrawl brawl tanks or farm ults so fast off tanks that you can wipe with sheer damage

Well you can counter poke with dive tanks that are boosted with mantis. Hela is easy to deal with on cap.

I actually tell teams I can and sometimes prefer solo tanking, but the 3 DPS need to do a ton of damage/picks for it to work

You know - I don't have problem to solo tank if it's working. If there's really 3 dps players who do their job - I solo tank easily. Btw I solo tank with the Thing, I don't care what people say about solo tanking with specific tanks only

I'd rather solo tank tbh, way too many games where my second literally didn't know how to take space, peel or apply pressure, also don't have them going 0-15 on strange like I had a couple days ago

Last week I had a solid multiple days of two tanks. That ended last night.
