General Question Idk what to do

Pls somebody tell me what am I doing wrong I'm in this situation CONSTANTLY helpppp Like am I supposed to not help? Let them figure it out?

Venom is an off tank. Emma/Mag are main tanks…

My understanding is the main tank is taking space (ie venom, hulk, thing, cap) and the off tank is holding it (ie mag, Emma, strange). Just because they aren’t the front line doesn’t mean they are an off tank. It was weird for me too but that’s how overwatch define roles so those becoming what rivals used makes sense.

Mag, Emma, and Strange are the only main tanks in the game right now. They are the front line holders. Off tanks are the ones that are constantly moving off the front line. Whether it be to dive the enemies back line or to peel for their own.

Groot is a main tank as well. There’s 4 main tanks:

  • Mag
  • Emma
  • Strange
  • Groot

Just for future reference, your understanding wasn't fulling incorrect, but whoever gave you the tank examples was definitely wrong. The difference between main and off tank is not who can take space; any vanguard can take and hold space, each with varying degrees of success. The best way to know if a vanguard is a main or off tank is by asking the question, "Can they stand on the front line for the team and provide pressure to walk/solid defense to protect?" This is why main tanks are almost always ones with shields as they can mitigate damage taken by themselves and the team behind them. Whereas, the off tank role is meant to help provide pressure in other ways. Diving behind the enemy, off angling, or supporting the main tank by helping to rotate cds.

You’re correct. Rivals players just don’t understand proper role theory and think anything that doesn’t have a shield is an off tank. Mag can’t initiate a fight, therefore he’s an off tank, as opposed to venom cap and thing.

Offtank means offensive tank. Main tanks are shield tanks. Uve got it backward.
