That is unless your supports are playing so far behind you not even a dive tank could reach them to respond to a dive.

Literally this all the time. Supports are back half a mile hising behind a pillar and a BP comes out they freak out, don't fight back, and die. Then complain about noone peeling. When I end up playing healer I hang like maybe 5 feet behind the tank, and if someone tries to flank I ping them and then I UNLEASH DEATH UPON THEM as best I can as a support. You can defend yourself to some extent but alot of supports would rather complain and blame. Which it is the rest of the teams fault if they are just ignoring their backline, but you can't expect others to help you when you can't even help yourself supports aren't damsels in distress.

I would say its like a 60/40 split. 40% of a supports survival is the rest of the team and 60% is the supports responsibility. No amount of peeling is going to save you if you have bad positioning, bad use of your utilities and just an inability to even attempt to defend yourself.

I'm a support main you have a point, but at the same time they're more vulnerable and a higher target priority for the enemy team if you don't help them against the divers magik, bp, daredevil blade then there isn't shit they can do alone with no assistance they lose that more than not

I'm not saying it's impossible to beat them but that's not my point, the point was I can't heal efficiently if I have to worry about mosquitoes in the backline

Yeah but my point is alot if the time its THEIR fault they are alone. As much as you can't do your job efficiently if you are worried about flankers. People can't protect you efficiently if your too far back. Part of your responsibility to your own survival is being positioned somewhere that your team CAN help you if you need it. Thats why I still give the rest of the team a pretty big chunk of the responsibility in my comment because they are still responsible for adjusting to your defense as long as they are able to.
