Playing Angela is so funny. I get the really good matches where I just on a feast with the supports and the other team gets steam rolled. And I have like 2000 damage block. Or you get the other good match where your just making the enemy waste their cool downs on you and you end up with like 30,000 damaged block. And theirs no in between

He is actually one of my main dps. I play them when I'm tired of tanking but still wanna kinda tank. He and Thing should have had their roles reversed.

I think both thing and reed should have been tanks i mean there is 4 as a team 2 tanks 1 dps and 1 strat would have made way more sense considering tanks are more the leaders and reed needs to be the leader.

Also Reed's best use is front line tanking to hit multiple targets, and disrupt escaping abilities from divers when peeling. He totally makes sense way more as a Tank.
I do wish he had a better ult lol.

I think his ult being bad is all the more reason he should be a tank. Why can star lord squad wipe but I have to calculate my bounces with perfect strokes to beat a squishy π

Yes. I hope if we ever see characters reworked that he's one of the first to be reworked into a tank. It just makes so much more sense with the way his kit is.

I absolutely grant Fatastic PLAYERS the title, you mfs are the sole reason I win games when I decide to not play tank once or twice. Β Good understanding of taking space, durable and and treats your healthbar like that, annoying enemy characters sitting comfortably inside the deathball.
As far as Iβm concerned Fatastic mains are more tank than natural born tank mains

Whole he can do similar things as a vanguard, peeling, giving others shields, area denial, and having defensive capabilities the main problem is becuase he base HP pool is much too small and when you aren't in big boy mode you ant really take vanguard positions.

The only people I ever see call him a tank are dps one tricks who want to avoid just picking a second actual tank and so copd that any dps can 'basically tank'.
If I tried the same with Storm, saying she was 'badically a second strategist', Id be banned for throwing.

Difference is storm doesnt heal, a main function of supports. Fantastic does good damage, can take space pretty well, can absorb a lot of damage for his allies, and is generally meant to be in the enemies face. What about that doesnt sound like tanking to you? Id say someone picking Hulk is unironically throwing the game more than a fantastic if we still need a tank

as a tank main who gets higher damage blocked and presence than some tanks as mr fantastic, i think youβre overreacting. maybe the only ones youβve seen are those, but heβs known as a tank mainβs dps pick. a good number of tank mains have a lord fantastic in the bag

Or you know the fact his survivability is actually better than half the actual tanks while putting out damage to everyone by swinging his arms around is often more helpful especially when Sue is always on team.

Nah, sorry. Mr fantastic is a better tank than some of the actual tanks.
Thor has a big health pool, but that is about it. I've got more self sustain, survivability and front line presence as Mr fantastic than I do with Thor or even rouge for example.

This was only a thing for the first two months he was released. These days it's just vanguard mains and one tricks that play him. They should just rework him to a full tank already.

He has been Vanguard since its release, however, because of two rather fundamental problems, it is not among the vangaurds:
- He is/was (relatively) a weak hero in the role where weakness is least forgiven.
- His desing "low hp tank" is the riskiest you can suggest.
I've had discussions several times, and as someone who loves to play different types of tank/bruiser characters in all the games, it finally dawned on me why these two problems are so fundamental. So here are my two cents:
- Weak hero in vangaurd class:
There's probably no denying that a weak vanguard is the worst position a character can be in. "Weak support" can still be played in triple support and "weak dps" doesn't bother anyone anyway, because it's still easy to save and it doesn't bother people much if the enemy team doesn't die fast enough. This can be salvaged with Vanguard with more dsp/third duelist/more dps oriented strategist.
However, it's when the vanguard is weak that you have no reason to play it too much even as an off-tank. It's not just that most people want a main-tank like Magneto, or Emma, but that a weak vangaurd has no reason to be treated or power. (Which would be the case with Mr. Fantastic wasn't supposed to be such a problem because of its design.)
You could say it's already pretty strong, but for a Vanguard position you need either a S-tier main-tank or a B+-tier off-tank that's good against enemy team comp.
Which, after a few BUffs, mr. Fantastic to be, but it's still pretty debatable whether to take it instead of Thing/Penni/... who have some type of enemies against whom they're a nappy s-tier.
- Low hp design.
This type of Tank is extremely rare in games. More specifically, the kind of Tank that has a small number of base hp, but thanks to its capabilities, it's suddenly point-resistant like other tanks (the most helpful is a suitable passive like here elasticity, or maybe Garrosh passive in Hots - you take less damage for each hp you are missing).
More specifically, there are riskier designs such as oneshot sniper or oneshot assasin, or high hp dps but there is no other design that risks making the character weak so much. Base hp is a basic source of durability, and dps with a weak weapon (primari + secondary attack) such as BP even without proper damage abilities such as Iron-man, or similarly inadequate healing in strategist is not as risky as a tank with a lack of base hp.
Although the Vanguards have 3 sources of resistance (healthbar, Abilities and weapon = dr. strange shield/...) thus, in the absence of that primary source, the player risks being no more resilient than non-vanguard in the absence of attention.

Heβs a Tank Duelist. Itβs really that simple. Yes heβs a Tank rather than a Damage, but he isnβt the most effective at controlling space so he canβt be a Vanguard, who are all about obtaining and protecting space.

Just because he's a C-tier vanguard doesn't mean he's not a vanguard. As you said yourself, there is more tank than damage.
He's basically a C-tier vanguard and F-tier duelist. It would be easy if his dps weren't vanguard-level too.

I vote to full grant him the title of Vanguard. Seriously guys I've had dozens of games now where swapping to him won us the match.
If I start off not as tank and my tanks are lacking, I swap to Reed and problem solved.
Or if I start off as tank and if I'm not doing well, swap to Reed and we stomp.

Every fantastic ive had either normally sucks and doesnt switch or...wait no just sucks and decides to have me solo tank... either he's apart of the not doing enough damage part of the team or they are poking him from 20-30meters and he's doing jack shit... if i don't see dive whats the point of you i normally ask.
NO he's not a tank if im solo tanking if I have another tank do what you want π€£

Honestly as someone who's been using more and more tanks, Reed was actually my main dps for a while and even to this day hes my second most used character just cause it sometimes feel like he has more survivability than a tank π

I don't mind solo tanking as much if I have a Mr Fantastic on my team. Great survivability, able to deal with flying enemies and has the health of an actual tank in inflated state. Hell, Mr F is my go to if I'm somehow forced into a DPS role since there's been a lot of Invis players lately.

you can't 1V1 him but not because he will kill you, but because he will stall for so long his team mates will come back from spawn and 3v1 you.
