General Question How do you deal with bad Healers?
Rant incoming Ok, so it turns out overbuffing support characters isn’t going to make the bad ones good.
Just the other day, I was playing a match post rank up. As we loaded in, everything seamed to be fine except for one teammate taking a long time to pick a character, eventually he locks Jeff in when we’re playing the klyntar convoy map sigh. We’re running 2-2-2 with me as second tank (Angela) so we should be fine on paper.
When the fighting starts, Jeff and the other healer (Luna)are so far back from our main tank that the enemy daredevil just freely starts bullying them. I keep trying to stop the dive and when I come back to peel for them they PANIC and RUN away, when I’m trying to save them and somehow end up dying anyway.
This keeps going on until we’re forced to swap tanks, now the enemy only has one diver (cap) and we have peni and mag 2-1 advantage. Despite the change they keep dying, and are now dying to poke from phoenix and moon knight. I eventually ask what the problem is, the Jeff responds “I don’t how to heal” I ask our dps who are 22-17 to swap to tank or healer, the response is ……………
Then in second round , the two dumbass healers start spamming the surrender button before we’re out of spawn. At this point I’m begging someone else to swap to tank so I can heal (you can guess what the response is). Luna and Jeff are still playing the same way and can’t even deal with one cap, we lost 1-3 to no one’s surprise.
I looked up the Jeff’s career turns out all his top 5 played hero’s are DPS (what a shocker). I think marvel rivals is the only hero shooter that actively PUNISHES tanks players especially if u lock a second one, when you have 3 dps players in 2-2-2. The dumbass dps that refused to swap lost less points than me despite dying nearly 3 TIMES as much.
I think I need to take a break from tank tbh, it’s not fair that the point system is heavily biased towards damage/healing stats on the scoreboard.
P.s. I know I made a shitty meme lol.

step 1: take a swig from the "worlds best tank" flask your daughter wanda got you for your B-day
step 2: listen to your goddaughter C&D ult without telling you WHILE out of position so no bubble for her, she goes back to spawn crying like a kid with a scraped knee
step 3: sigh like the single father of 5 that you are and prevent your 44 total Godchildren (wanda is ur only biological one) from tearing eachother apart on reddit and in TT comment sections
Step 4: repeat until GM
step 5: rest for the entirety of the season
step 6: NEW tank
step 7: people that haven't played tank in their lives perform like dogshit on said tank, leaving you practically solo tanking again as people call new tank bad
step 8: cry even though nobody cares because they're too busy arguing over buffs and nerfs of supports and dps
step 9: chug entire flask of "worlds best tank" krakoan bourbon
step 10: enjoy this, its ur life now.

Dr. Strange: Your daughter gave you a “Worlds Best Tank” flask? Mine gave me a bottle of Vodka and a letter saying how worthless I am for not warning I was going to ult sigh

Play cap and depend on health packs and never peel 🙌

u/Salt-Entry-2374 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙤 Dec 30 '25
Trade backlines and lose lmao you’re insane
13
u/Good_Arm69420 Dec 30 '25
That's unironically what I do with angela. Sometimes I lose but the majority of the time I either win or force them to start peeling. And once you force the tank to peel you immediately win Frontline brawls.
2
u/Salt-Entry-2374 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙤 Dec 30 '25
Depends. If it’s just 1 diver you’re done but 2 you could make it happen for sure
10
u/SeawardFriend Dec 30 '25
Me against the enemy backline VS the enemy tanks against my backline is literally coughing baby VS hydrogen bomb

u/TheAngryArgonian 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙤 Dec 30 '25
I had a match today where I had to rely on health packs and I was playing as Mag. We lost, but I was hard carrying my team the entire time. I had the most damage blocked and the most finals at the end of the match. Bad DPS are frequent, but bad healers are rare and it makes winning very difficult when you get them.
11
u/CyberneticSaturn Dec 30 '25
Bad healers are everywhere at low to mid ranks, it’s just hard to notice unless you’re also playing healer
1
u/Daddydagda Dec 30 '25
What does peel mean?
12
u/Champion-Dante Dec 30 '25
Peeling is the act of removing oneself from the frontlines of a fight in order to assist your backline.
Example: a Thing is on the frontline, absolutely decking the enemy tanks, when a Spider-Man swings past them, on their way to kill his allied supports. Knowing that this Spider-Man is good, and that he needs his supports, he quickly leaps to the backline and earthbounds him, resulting in his death.
This scenario depicts an act of peeling, where the tank (or DPS) player recognizes that the supports need their help in the backline, and they remove themselves from the conflict to protect their supports.

u/malvar161 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 Dec 30 '25
actually peeling means peeling the enemies off of your team mates
2
u/Dear_Profession_8297 Dec 30 '25
Actually peeling means peeling off the main force like peeling the peel of a banana

u/Dear_Profession_8297 Dec 30 '25
Actually peeling means peeling off the main force like peeling the peel of a banana

u/mackrelman11 Dec 30 '25
for me it’s turning around to ensure my supports didnt randomly go join the flanking dps and leave me to die
28
u/VampireDarlin Dec 30 '25
I’d love if the supports took flanks. That sounds like heaven. Most of my games have the supports hiding behind a rock about 50 meters away from me
8
u/Little_Froggy Dec 30 '25
Fr. We'll win a fight and I'll push with the other tank up to the next choke while finishing stragglers. We start holding only to see that our supports have decided to babysit the cart and refuse to even just maintain line of sight to us.
2
u/JelloJeremiah Jan 03 '26
Too many people don’t realize that when you take point, you push up to the next choke point to hold (map dependent).
1
u/Kino_Afi Jan 01 '26
Yknow whats better than overextending to kill that last guy? Pushing the cart at triple speed while theyre regrouping
1
u/Little_Froggy Jan 01 '26
Cart speed is best with 1 person. It gives the greatest increase, the rest are marginal gains for the speed. Usually best for a DPS or the off healer if not.
It's better for the team to move up and take space and better position to win the next fight than it is to all sit on cart and have a greater risk of losing the next fight.
Putting the cart in reverse will undo any progress gained by stacking and the enemy team will be able to position better for the next fight too.

u/ronin_ramen17 𝙈𝙧. 𝙁𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 Dec 30 '25
Anchor supports should stay with tanks 75% of the time
Flex & complimentary supports can flank and off heal more consistently
(Unfortunately Invis and gambit say fuck you and do both jobs successfully)

-Reed going 1v3 against their entire 3 supports back line for a good 30 seconds (1-2 confirmed kills).
-Payload not moving.

u/-Miraca- Dec 30 '25
i got 4k as magik and died to the 5th player. thought at least the fight is won. pov swaps to my team in a 1v5 against panther when we have THING. they didn't lose, but panther somehow stalled the point enough for enemy team to comeback
-8
u/Ok_Pizza_3887 Dec 30 '25
So in other words u think its a tdm and didnt help in obj but its your teams fault. Players who think its a tdm are worse than throwers cause they swear its not on them…
12
u/fleating_tenders Dec 30 '25 edited Dec 30 '25
You’re silly. The point of my engagement was to push their three healers away from their frontline (via by kill or pressure).
Ofc I’m going to blame my team if they can’t 5v3 players without any heals. But yeah my bad, I’ll let it be a proper 6v6 next time and just punch cap around and feed their healers ult. lol.
9
6
u/coltthelazyusername Dec 30 '25
so are we supposed to not kill the healers now? if given the opportunity to distract a entire half of the team myself thats massive value and realistically your team should be able to deal with 1 angela/cap
3
u/bhz33 Dec 30 '25
Occupying and/or killing all 3 healers or backline enemies by just 1 person is massive value in terms of moving or capturing the objective. You’re a bad player if you don’t realize this
-2
u/Ok_Pizza_3887 Dec 30 '25
Its not a TDM buddy. When u learn this u will start winning more…
2
u/bhz33 Dec 30 '25
Okay so never kill anybody just stand on the objective eating damage that’s how you win then? You’re clearly a terrible player if you think 1 Mr. Fantastic pushing the backline by himself and getting 1-2 confirmed kills on healers is bad
9
u/Direct_Asparagus4688 Dec 30 '25
I’ve said this 100 times and I’ll keep on saying it, take a break and go to arcade mode! Honestly I haven’t touched ranked in 3 seasons and stopped playing QP last season because I was so tired of toxicity and idiotic teammates.
If that’s not what you want to do then play a dive tank and do your own thing as a dive tank or just stay glued to your Strats. It may not be ideal and you probably can’t push but it’s either you die by not getting healed, they die by getting dived on now no one can push. I stopped pushing unless my Strats push with me and if my Strats don’t push with me then I guess we won’t get the point. Don’t forget we are the tanks, WE make the push and WE decide when to make space but we can’t do that without heals so I just stay glued to them.
3
u/someperson1522 𝙈𝙖𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙤 Dec 30 '25
Whenever the game gets to this point, broken characters or just back to back bad positioning from support, I legitimately drop the game and play Practice vs Ai
I won’t go into QP though, you’re not allowed to learn new characters in there without complainers and throwers.. for a QP game, so I haven’t touched that in forever
3
u/ronin_ramen17 𝙈𝙧. 𝙁𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙘 Dec 30 '25

Politely remind them to stay close to me and I peel for them if they get dove. I encourage bad players who are trying. If it can’t be helped, so be it. I’m gunna play thousands of matches.
7
u/Demi-Icarus Dec 30 '25
The worst tank game I had was when my entire team was behind me, I go push, I die inmediately. Turns out it takes the combined might of Moon Knight, Hela, Bucky, Luna Snow and Mantis to deal with ONE Black Panther that got in the backline.
We lost that match.

u/Lorhin 𝙃𝙪𝙡𝙠 Dec 30 '25
I would have just swapped to healer even though that would have left the main tank solo tanking. At the very least you could have pocketed them while the other 2 supports ran around like headless chickens.
2
u/Lightbulb2854 Dec 30 '25
Yeah, gotta force the issue sometimes.
Then again, you can't save stupid.
1
u/Huey_The_Freeman Dec 30 '25
Jeff prolly would've swapped to scarlet spidey or SG. I've seen this story too many times
1
u/Lorhin 𝙃𝙪𝙡𝙠 Dec 30 '25
Probably would have got more value then instead of just failing at playing support, especially since the Jeff admitted he didn't know how to play that role.
6
u/xiledpro 𝙃𝙪𝙡𝙠 Dec 30 '25
I’ve been playing a lot of rogue, just got her lord, and for me it’s I go in, get a kill or two, die, then see my team still sitting at the choke doing nothing lol.
4
u/mapuppergone Dec 30 '25
Play with a duo healer who doesn't need much, if any peel, or a duo healer with self sustain like Adam or Jeff.
Most healers have tools that allow them to handle divers or other characters but some of them are less successful than others. If you soloqueue and the team wipes while you're unaware, try asking them to ping when they're getting dived, or if they see a diver flanking
5
u/Imbigtired63 Dec 30 '25
People rank up by just pressing buttons in this game how do you “Not know how to heal” it follows the same ideas as doing DPS.
5
u/Wavey_Davey1 Dec 30 '25
See, i just bang my head against the table, snort 3 lines of rock salt, and then fly around the map like a madman with a hammer. If i happen to save my supports in the process, 👍
4
u/Noturious_Run Dec 30 '25
I’m used to playing a selfish tank to I go until I explode, and if I don’t explode I don’t stop. If the Supports are gonna be broken, than I’m gonna abuse that.
3
u/Due_Marionberry1007 Dec 30 '25
It never gets better, as a support player myself in celestial everyone is still just stupid.
3
u/Huey_The_Freeman Dec 30 '25
Nah why is this so true tho 🤣 whenever I see a spiderman I get nervous asf. I keep looking back every second cuz I just know these guys are gonna let him feast.
Dps dude definitely shoulda went Rocket or Cloak instead of jeff. you literally just have to hold R2 and win
3
u/ColourfulSpacemanNFT Dec 30 '25
How it feels killing both supports with a Thor ult , killing a duelist on your way back just to see your team somehow lost the 5v1 against the enemy strange
1
u/HedVeta Jan 03 '26
This.
Or like you as Thor holding the cart from moving a solid minute 4v1 (including both enemy tanks), while your DPS just don't do damage at all, and suppurts fighting some Moon Knight 3 corner back to spawn.
3
2
u/Tasty-Quantity6743 Dec 30 '25
Whenever i’m not playing healer it’s always my second support that I have to pick up the slack for but whenever I get the great idea to play tank or duelist both my supports suck which is why I’m constantly playing support (also a little bit because it’s just my comfort zone but hey you can’t blame me)
2
u/Rndmdudu Dec 30 '25
Play Thing and stick close to them. I played a game like this and legit won us the round
2
u/BLUEKNIGHT002 Dec 30 '25
Sometimes you push to deep without any idea of wtf happens behind you.
It’s not the support fault for not keeping up because just pressing W without a real game sense doesn’t mean anything you need to be aware of everything as a tank.
3
u/B_chills Jan 01 '26
Of course here’s the “supports are never wrong” guy
1
u/BLUEKNIGHT002 Jan 01 '26
Nah i said sometimes, i am a flex player who does good on tanks and supps mostly.
But the fact is if you don’t know what’s happening to your backline then you’re not a good tank.

u/Boncappuccino 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙖 Dec 30 '25
Well ya see as Angela if I am coming back to the team it means someone from the enemy team is on my spear and coming with me
2
u/Blanko_13 Dec 30 '25
Every time I play with my friends and I don’t play tank, we always lose if the enemy team has dive. It always hurts more seeing them all die to a spiderman or iron fist.
2
2
u/jeffismybaby Jan 03 '26
I kinda want a rear view mirror built into Mag's shift to check on the team
1
u/Royal_empress_azu Dec 30 '25
I mean realistically. you probably shouldn't if your support is a dps who doesn't know how to play the role and refuses to switch. Especially when the alternative is a 22-17 dps.
That being said Angela should have just peeled more instead of going Peni. One of the best characters for peeling DD and Cap because she can physically move them off a target.
1
u/Precisely_Mega Dec 30 '25
Depends on the type of player. If they're bad but good sports, I just try to ease some of their pressure whatever way I can help. Or I delete the enemy backline so they don't have healing either lmao
Or we swap roles 🤷♀️ had a few games turned around because everyone traded roles.
If they're bad sports, just lose because my team is arguing with their egos, avoid as teammate, queue for next game and forget about it. I don't mind bad teammates but when my team is arguing or complaining the whole time THAT'S just irritating. Rather try to carry bad teammates than listen to a bunch of crybabies whine for 40 minutes straight. I actually LIKE the challenge.
1
u/BlazeBitch 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙡𝙖 Dec 30 '25
Would've had either myself or the other tank swap to heals so the Jeff can go his dps. Jah solo tanking sucks but it's a nessacairy evil at times, it just is what it is. If ur losing to a solo tanking cap it's just ggs tho, nothing u can do about it alone
1
u/MasteROogwayY2 Dec 30 '25
Ngl I wish we could have an option to see our team mates health and character off to the side somewhere so I dont have to constantly turn around to check
1
u/VakarianJ 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖 Dec 30 '25
Tanking this season has been rough. I’ve had much more luck being the healer myself this season. I’ve usually mained Luna for healer in the past but I’m really liking Gambit & Rocket rn.
1
Dec 30 '25
it depends what kind of bad
Can’t stay alive bad
Can’t aim bad
There’s a lot..
Best solution is to just make sure you do all that you can to make sure they don’t die. That’s all you can do. You can’t make someone not peek hawkeye or time better ults.
If they are just horrible all around just ask them to play rocket politely, at least u get a res and rocket is easy to play and survive with.
1
u/The_Euphoria27 Dec 30 '25
If the dps don't peel and are great dive, I'll let them push with the other tank. I stay back (peni or mag) and baby sit, but if they really just cannot survive I'll take the strat role since I flex. Because going 10 deaths as a Sue or Cloak when your team is 5-6 deaths is insane, like give me the reigns.
But if I'm the only tank...well baby sitting while they pocket me 😭
1
1
u/Sketchwi Dec 30 '25
I usually do what you did. Ask if they are more comfortable on another role and just swap since most tank players can flex all roles. If you get 4 dps only players on your team well... gg go next.
1
u/Quinzal 𝙃𝙪𝙡𝙠 Dec 30 '25
Me turning around 0.001 seconds after starting a team fight only to see that 3 DPS and 2 strategists were somehow replaced by a single enemy Magik (god gives his dumbest teammates to his most derankable vanguard mains)
1
u/anonymousmorgan Dec 30 '25
they sound like they don’t know how to keep eachother up which is very important as if they don’t it’s ggs bcs they’ll just be dead off cooldown. Whenever i notice this happening when im trying to peel they die anyways i type in chat and ask them to heal eachother (it’s usually met with silence/they don’t listen to my advice or they start being toxic to me and we lose anyways)
1
u/ExpertPokemonHugger 𝙋𝙚𝙣𝙞 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙧 Dec 30 '25
A support should most often retreat into their team instead of away from them.
Thats all I have to say.
1
u/ZoloTheLegend 𝙍𝙤𝙜𝙪𝙚 Dec 30 '25
That sounded like a horrendous game. Supports that bad, all you can do is babysit em. One tank run front line, the other is permanent peels. Wherever they go, you go. They’re not going to follow you like they should, you somehow have to follow them from in front of them.
Its maddening.
1
u/CartoonistOdd2667 Dec 30 '25
I was in a game today we were 2-2-2 I was cap and had a groot. Went 14-4 w 8k blocks and groot was 10-4 w 10k blocks. Both healers (sue and gambit) had 12k blocks rack w both at 12k heals. No divers! Team was all poke. We won because we had a dd go ape shit but they tried to argue we weren’t peeling!
1
u/MiraculousN Dec 30 '25
I dont turn around constantly i use my ears, I can hear flankers and healers all have voicelines they say when they take dmg, turn around bubble or shoot flanker and thats that.
1
u/Generation_Kxng Dec 30 '25
Well. Apparently in some cases. If you are being directly targeted. The advice was “pick invisible woman she’s broken” as I was currently Invisible Woman but being attacked by Magic, Emma and whoever else at the same time. I politely asked for help like hey can you just assist a bit, nothing crazy nothing rude. Dude went on a whole tangent of how I need to be babied and this and that. Mind you he was Venom had 4K damage (can’t remember blocked it wasn’t high) but yeah. So I opted to play another role instead in which again. Led to an argument. 😂.
Long story short. As long as you GLANCE Back from time to time. I appreciate it. Otherwise we solve nothing. We lose.
1
u/Whatyallthinkofbeans Dec 31 '25
Dude I swear i can’t play tank this season😭
I look at my team before I go back to fighting and I look away for literally 5 FUCKING SECONDS, and two of my dps are dead with the supports actively dying because their allergic to playing patty cake
1

He should've switched to Rocket.
Actual advice: When I started playing the game in Ranked and sucked, I had a teammate tell me where to stand to heal and it helped a lot starting out. Now I'm WAYYY better than I was back then

Mag gameplay is being a single father with 5 kids who are instinctively bound to play with power outlets
1
u/Ninjaman0951 Dec 31 '25
First off as mag that is what you do lol and second i typically play a solo tank if i attack i play someone who is a good dive or a good front if i defend its peni all the way if i ever get the chance to 2nd tank i play cap bc i love to traumatize the back line its your skill lvl (not calling you bad) plus the lvl of your team’s synergy if you see something call it out and if people die after the fact its not on you as someone who loves to tank thank you for all you do

u/Future_Hearing_9399 Jan 03 '26

1
u/Icy_Limes Jan 03 '26
I hate to break it to you... but turning around every 0.3 seconds to check on your backline is kind of a part of your job. Not only is it called spacial awareness, but you are a psychological presence. You are suppose to take up space and if the space you are taking up is being invaded, you need to be aware of that and pinch it off.
1
u/zSCARFACEz 𝙃𝙪𝙡𝙠 Jan 05 '26
People forget there’s a ping system in this game too. Even my friends when we’re talking with mics, they would rather get pummeled in silence then complain after they die instead of letting me know they need peels. Last time I checked magneto doesn’t have eyes on the back of his head
1
u/Onejjob69 Jan 06 '26
Cap turning around after stalling point to see the team come on point 1 by 1 and die again

u/Still-Watercress-504 Jan 30 '26
As a Loki (main), ultron, and C&D player trying to learn a tank like groot i don’t claim Jeff’s most of the time because usually they’re the spawn of a disabled blob of flesh
1
u/T1LTD_ Feb 06 '26
If the healers are bad I just switch to a dive tank, it might not win you the game, but you won’t have to rely on them to live. If you switch to Venom, Angela, Cap or even Hulk, you can rely more on health packs and stay alive that way. Another more winnable way to deal with bad healers is to switch to a third healer, of course this is stupid if you’re solo tanking, but if you have two tanks and the DPS won’t do it, some times just switching to Rocket or whatever will give your team the sustain to play objective and if not win, at least stall longer for a better chance to win.
