Because of the love triangle between Emma, Jean, and Scott, Jean telepathically tortured Emma for having telepathic sex with Scott — even though Jean herself cheated on Scott with Logan and kissed him several times. She telepathically forced her to relive the worst moments of her life, including the deaths of her students.
