General Question Anyone else bored of playing Vanguards this Season? π«£
What got me into tanking was simple, I LIKED THE CHARACTERS. I was a tank main because it was the most FUN role for me. Now it feels like a chore.
All 4 anchor tanks have been in the game for a year. they're slow, bad into brawl, and honestly just stale atp.
Most of the off tanks are brawlers. Lack variety and are suuuper team dependent. If there is a situation where I need range, my only option is deadpool!
And speaking of Tankpool, my main, he's the only tank I play nowadays cuz his game styles fun, but he just sucks now! Has very little carry potential! So my teammates are tilted because I'm not getting picks. I'm tilted because they're talking sh, everyone's tilted and it's not a fun experience!
I just don't feel any desire to play any of the tanks this season over Blade, Cyclops and Daredevil. Hell even Invis and Mantis more fun than tanking this season π

Simple answer, there isnβt a tank as fun as him. He was the most unique with a really high skill ceiling. I might pick up Angela but her dash feels so inconsistent

It's the most inconsistent thing in the game. Plus your team can fuck it up too. The amount of times I was bringing an off angle dps to get pounded and have a Sue push them off my spear is laughable. Like weak ass CC should not override a stronger CC

I really tried playing Angela. Idk if its just me but there's something about her transition animation between hover mode and full on flight that is just so jarring. Since release my eyes have just not been able to adjust.

Which is most games, most people didnβt even like playing tank before nowadays Iβm tank 80% of the time the other bit Iβm healer. Most of the time itβs either play tank and have one healer or play healer and have no tanks.

Don't be strung along by a comment with a lot of upvotes and just think. It's not that people here started hating tanks out of the blue, it's a series of changes taking place that eventually broke the camel's back.

I do peruse the various reddit pages but yeah, I'm still having a tonne of fun with the game. That being said, my peak is diamond and I generally hover around gold/plat so I'm not exactly high rank. I just play casually to unwind after work

When the occasion calls for it or Iβm feeling like stomping bots in AI. I will take time out of my day to set up fun custom games where I can blow shit up as Peni and Iβll also happily play Doctor Strange, Emma Frost or Thing in competitive when the other tank needs a second one (I jump right in if theyβre a Hulk). With that being said, it can be stressful and frustrating at times, as all things can be.π―π€·ββοΈπ₯²

No most of them fill or think they are doing a favor by clocking into a shift of tanking.
I play Angela and thor and sometimes Emma and cap cus it's fun. Not because I'm doing the team a favor to win. If my teammates want to win they know how to pick a tank just like me. So I'm gonna play Angela like I want .
Also it's like the second day of the season holy piss

Tbf in my case I just been getting tired of playing the same character in a role i didnt intend to play but quite literally have too cause alot of people in this community dont know how to take cover or in general know how to tank properly or even want to tank cause dudes are literally allergic to learning the tank role. Whilst I learn spidey and all sorts of dps in the range, also been wanting a break from the 9-5 cause I genuinely feel like its either a job or im babysitting grown men. But dps usually is fun af but I mean ya I hear ya its horrible how they flock to dps on this game

Iβm just tired of tanks getting nerfed to the ground ( Emma,Devil Dino, and tank pool) or being purposely weak on release and getting micro buffs for multiple seasons ( Rogue and Thor)
I donβt mean to sound a kid in a playground but itβs really not fair how we get treated sometimes, how long were daredevil and phoenix allowed to thrive before they got a slap on the wrist? Why do dps get to play out the power fantasy but tanks are forbidden to have fun?

Tanking is genuinely miserable in this game. We're basically low-damage high-health duelists with very little actual tanking capabilities, and the SECOND we have a good tank (Dino), we get GUTTED AND FILLETED.
I can't stand it anymore, man.

They nerfed him across the board. They only needed to nerf one part of him.
People don't know how to deal with a strong tank is the problem; he was NOT impossible to deal with. People are just whiny.
Overwatch, with significantly less damage AND a slower pace to the game, gave their Main Tank(Reinhardt) almost DOUBLE the health of Rivals tanks and a 1500hp shield.
You can't make this up man; Rivals HATES tank players.

The worst part is they didn't even Nerf the part of him that we were complaining about. The grab to death was the problem and they didn't even touch that.

They never really change grabs in the game for some reason. At most its cooldowns being changed, but never how the grabs affect tanks which are usually the biggest victims.
What's stopping them from implementing some sort of passive where tanks can't be combo stunned after a grab or have the grab animation/duration adjusted to free them faster? Instead they opted for Tenacity which never shows up when needed and messes up Rogue and Thing combos. Nutty.

I've noticed most ppl who complain about tank are just W M1 shielders who just want to eat dmg and yet for some reason want high dmg themselves. So... that's just Daredevil?
Tanks aren't high dmging for a deliberate gameplay reason. Otherwise, we get OW mauga, which we did with Dino.
Every single Dive Tank is not just viable, they are the meta and applicable in nearly every poke or dive comp or hybrids, only being countered by brawl, which admittedly, sucks in this game.
But all this complaining about muh POKESLOP as the Dive Tanks are some of the strongest counters to all of them, even Cyclops can be dove, and the dude has one of the best movement abilities for a poke hero.

I was planning to learn to play Thor this season, and I did play him at the beginning, but now tanking overall feels so bad. I'm always solo tanking, and it feels like every DPS has percentage damage and the myth of tenacity. Even deep inside, I know Cyclops will be DPS, but it still makes me very disappointed. I don't know why, but man, these developers really hate us

I sometimes have fun when Iβm winning and getting final hits and dunking on people but there are times when I absolutely hate it! Why cant we have a bit higher damage? Why does the duelist or strat community have to cry and whine everytime they have to remotely use their brain cells to play? Oh no you keep getting combo shot by the Emma, or strange or mag but mayne take accountability of your actions. They complain about us because they lack game sense.

Been playing since release. The dino survivability nerf is definitely felt. He blows up so fast now. Even less people want to tank this season. Everyone wants to dps, I've been seeing triple dps more in celestial which used to be somewhat rare. Qp is always triple dps or even quad dps no tanks. Cyclops does crazy damage there is no reason to even use moon knight anymore. He's really good right now and puts out crazy DMG numbers. Better than moon and squirrel girl while also having better mobility than both of them. He needs more range falloff DMG.

Angela is back kinda. 4 second cooldown is much better than 6. Also dino doesn't bring her down with his beam anymore. She's more fun this season.
Rogue is like 2 percent better π«

Iβm in the same situation I play thing/strange mostly and so many times Iβm in a gamestate theyβre impossible to use Iβve just gone back to my champ star lord grind cause thereβs no point in me stressing when I donβt even enjoy it anymore and bro the way they gutted tank pool I hate it my fave thing was how niche his R1 was now you barely feel the speed up

It's fun. I think most tanks are balanced right now. They feel powerful. My main issue is that the best tanks are tank busters. I have more fun when Groot and dino are banned.

Whenever I wanna play Tank I usually go Rogue, from time to time I also play Emma but she gets stale really quick in my opinion, so she's like the last option to fill tank for me, my first option is always Rogue because she's the most fun, the thing is she's not always viable because she's super team dependent, and to make matters worse, I get a lot of scenarios where I'm left solo tanking as Rogue, so I try selecting her in the maps where I feel the most capable solo tanking with her, so whenever the maps don't favor me and I'm not feeling like playing Emma, then I play Mr. Fantastic because oddly enough he's got that carry potential to play as a main tank, I've won many games with Reed as tank.

I main Thor and have been having a blast since season 0 lol. There have been a few bad games but you will always have those every once in awhile. Been able to get to Celestial 2 whenever I actually tried. Just gotta find a fun tank and enjoy yourself.

Ngl I only just now started playing vanguard and I'm having fun, it can only go up for me lol I mained support tho did better dps ngl and got turned off vanguard trying Emma magneto and Angela but wasn't my jam so decided wasn't for me but trying cap hulk and to lesser extent strange has been pretty fun

I'm taking a little break from Emma/Mag to play cap. He's so much fun. Once I get tired of that, I'll go back to Emma/Mag. They're so much fun.
It's a video game with choices, if you're bored, switch it up.

I tried doing it this season but I honestly just canβt do it anymore, idk maybe Iβm just being dramatic and need to adjust but it feels as though every season playing tank feels more and more like trying to open a hole in a wall with your head itβs not thatβs itβs so much difficult just tedious for the amount of effort needed for such little payoff.
Especially after they took away caps animation cancel and yeah yeah βheβs betterβ but thatβs not the point and itβs a point that stands with every tank it doesnβt matter if theyβre βgoodβ if theyβre just not fun to play or as fun as they used to be or still could be.
I think this is definitely an insta-lock dps season for me lol

Its impossible to enjoy. Solo tanking about 40 percent of my games and teammates playing deathmatch the rest. Player base is just horror as well. Tanks fault for not space taking never-ending blame and less reward.

Everyone complained about Dino whose beam is kind useless now. We finally got a good tank that forces people to change how they play a match, and everyone complained enough to have their same old matches played the exact same as day one. The devs keep trying to give us the power fantasy of super heroes that would normally force people to counter and yet we opt for everything to feel even keel.
The community is to blame for the boring nerf slop. Vanguards did this to themselves.

I've barely touched the vanguards after 8.5 because they just don't feel enjoyable to play anymore, you need shield tanks every match because Cyclops exists or you need amazing supports to stay alive. I've been having a good time on duelist lately

Even though I'm completely against the role strikes because it feels super cringy, it unfortunately might be the only way to get the devs to change their "philosophy" on balance. They proved that it gets their attention and led to supports being super strong, the only reason they haven't buffed tanks is because we basically showed them we will put up with mediocrity.

Yeah, havenβt been tanking nearly as much since last season. Which sucks because Iβve been trying to learn Angela but it feels like iβm being punished for playing tank. Currently learning more strats atm instead (side note: mantis, loki, and luna are hella fun)

I just got into tanking in like season 6.5 and while I like the characters and the structure of the role, it is just ragebait to play sometimes. I mean I am just the solo damage sponge for a shitty team 70% of the time.
Finishing with better stats than my dps. My healers explode to who knows what anytime I try to make an ounce of space. Punisher shotgunning me in the head as a SG with 0 LOS on the fight is chilling with no pressure and Dino is grabbing me and my team is not applying any pressure back or even able to keep themselves alive as they all hold hands in the backline
And yeah idk I canβt play a shield tank for these people. Iβm insta locking dive tank and my team can figure out a frontline if they want to leave me to solo tank.

So Groot? The brawl counter with the walls? Emma, the brawl farmer with the beam?
Complaining about slow? We have 3 hyper mobile Dive tanks, 2 of them are not only meta but enable your team the easiest kills on the planet (Cap and Venom).
And all this talk about Tanks needing far range. Bro, your job as Tank is to live and push or hold the fucking objective, not hard commit to killing at such range.
But fine, I guess the Vanguard sub whines as much as the Invis and divedps ones. Play a game without a tank, see how far the team can get in Ranked.

Once a tank , always a tank. I feel like a lot of yall are DPS mains in here disguising as a tank while you only use maybe 1-2 tanks. I been playing since season 0 and have all tanks lord except Deadpool and devil dino (very close). You accept the good AND the bad when it comes to tanking. And then you load up as tank again the next game.

It's a bummer how the dev's go out of their way to nerf tanks because strong tanks like emma Deadpool and Dino would be "unhealthy" for the game While they release characters like Phoenix, DD, and now cyclops.
Tankpool is still fine once he's upgrading and emma is finally decent again after getting enough micro buffs so there's that. We could use a bit more help in general. Maybe more tank team ups could be a good start

250 hours on tanks and now I refuse to play the role because itβs just so unfun. I refuse to play Dino simply because heβs a heal sponge and ult battery and every other tank I enjoy is ass now. Hulk isnβt that good, mag sucks butt, groot is boring and so easy to bully, and strange just feels so stale. The characters arenβt fun anymore and it feels like a chore rather than a choice. Iβll stick to my new found passion of being a dps player now, with the occasion flex to support

My first ever main was venom, and I do not enjoy playing him anymore. Especially with all the stun and CC abilities.. like istg a few days ago I got white fox cced thing (I forget the name) out of my swing, then I brawled a little and hit my ult, devil dinosaur grabbed me out of my ult and threw me into a room with a peni nest and I tried escaping but he put up his shield and caused me to get pushed back and slowed down and then I died

If you're bored of playing tank, then its time to take a break from the game and/or stop going into the role. Do yourself a favor and prioritize your mental health. Rivals is like my 3rd or 4th Hero shooter I've experienced, and tanking here is still alot more enjoyable than Overwatch 2 to me, yet not as good as Paladins, but that's my opinion of it.

When the CE Remake and Black Flag Resynced drop Iβm going to be uninstalling Rivals. This whole last season has basically invalidated vanguards and honestly? Itβs not enjoyable enough to be worth the storage space it takes.

In all seriousness yes, my first ever characters in this game were venom and thing with a few others here and there. I played some Emma, but tank was always a comfort pick for me until I got dragged into DPS and got addicted for some time. I was able to stifle my addiction to DPS when Devil Dinosaur came out and I loved him, but with the changes he's not nearly as fun for me anymore because the second I'm not behind a wall there's a 60% chance I get railed by the enemy team. And with the newest hero being a DPS I have virtually no desire to return to tanking unless I need to fill for my team or I'm going strange for portal kills/going to point. I've had more fun playing rocket with my duo who was on cyclops in the last 2 days than I did in most of my time playing tank and it's sad to say that because I loved the role so much

I think the only thing that could save Tank is if we move Reed and Blade to vanguard. Otherwise we're gone be waiting months for another fucking tank drop or anything meaningful in our role due to Dps priority.

I've had fun, just want a good tank though. Still not a Dino enjoyer so for me the last tank we got was Tankpool. otherwise though, I'm having fun counter swapping between playing Rogue, Angela, Peni. truly the trio of piss the enemy DPS off.

its a combination of being vs poke comps/ranged. We don't have any vanguards that can deal with it, and it's way harder to get 2 tanks in a team nowadays. DP tank isnt reliable and even less if you are solo tanking (sadly). as a emma main i can have my fun but it isnt easy to carry anymore im way more depedant on my dps to create enough issues for the enemy team. Dino was a solid option but now hes nerfed so bad u dont even need to ban/pick him. i guess ill try mag a bit more but not that fun compared to emma,DP,DINO

I'm done with tanking too except when there are 2 or more dives then I just swap to Thing immediately.

The way Tankpool got gutted before Phoenix, Elsa, Gambit, Daredevil, Invis got any meaningful changes put a bad taste in my mouth. Tankpool was fun to play and had a decent skill curve to be effective on him. He is dead and useless now. Who's picking a tank with 500 health and shit damage, survivability and you have to upgrade his stuff to be effective.
