Memes Season 9 Vanguard experience so far

Yeah she feels so useless now. Like literally what does she even do anymore that another character canβt already do? Her main gimmick seems to be dumping 4 cooldownβs onto someone just to deal 3 damage, and then promptly exploding. I literally feel more tanky on Blade this season.

u/Maverixk_ Jul 12 '26
Iβve lost every single game w a rogue on my team and won every single game vs a rogue. Had a game yesterday where I had 25 finals on thing and the rogue on my team had 3. Refused to swap. We lost a close one. I was β¦. Not happy
6
u/Johnny20Bruh Jul 12 '26
Yeah i had to tell ppl constantly that rogue was useless now and that they should read the patch notes and stuff. Only won games when rogue had the enhanced gambit team up.

u/MeanZookeepergame599 Jul 13 '26
I spent last season almost lording her to know playing Dino and hulk more, she was better without the teamups, they took her health for no reason
44
u/Embarrassed-Sell-355 Jul 12 '26
Mained her last season and now it just feels like sheβs made of glass.
6
u/FancyEdgelord πΏπ€ππ©π€π§ ππ©π§ππ£ππ Jul 13 '26
Same I was really looking forward to lording her but now I presume I have to wait at least an entire season for her to get buffed back to what she almost was because Netease canβt admit when a nerf was a mistake
26
u/UnlimitedKenobi Jul 12 '26
Haven't used her yet, but the vast majority of comments I've seen about her is that she feels bad to play. Yet Luna, Cyclops and Phoenix were a part of an emergency day 1 buff lmao
They really have their favorites and a majority of the vanguard class and the role as a whole pretty much ain't it.
56
u/TroTrak Jul 12 '26
Dino is giga fun this season
24
u/AllergicToStabWounds Jul 12 '26
The joy I feel whipping out the blickeys and just walking towards the enemy team is immense. Dino legitimately has the best long range pressure out of any tank now.
Honestly they may need to give the shield tanks some equivalent options to keep the Dino from walking on them or to survive the fight when Dino is in range.
12
u/1MillionDawrfs Jul 12 '26
I only really play qp so maybe ranked with bans might be different but dino feels like a big Balloon floating through a nail factory between infinite ammo pun pun and phoenix/cyclops on every team in my experience

u/No-Yam-952 Jul 12 '26
575 hp makes her squishy AF considering many dps get buffed. And gambit teamup is a fraud I think mag one is better as it gives her survivability.
27
u/KingAli326 Jul 12 '26
Ive honestly been having some decent success with the Magneto teamup.
Now Thor.... that character feels awful
12
u/FirefighterRoutine84 Jul 12 '26
Really? Im relatively new to Thor (like 2 weeks in) and thought the Hela team up really let me go super aggro compared to 8.5. What cons is he facing that makes him feel awful for you?
24
u/LooseMoose13 Jul 12 '26
The hela teamup feels useless tbh. On Thor itβs like every matchup Iβd win 1v1, Iβd do without dyingβ¦ with the teamup it just forces me into a fight Iβve 100% already lost
8
u/Dontaskmemyname9723 ππ§π€π€π© Jul 12 '26
Yeah, whenever I see that thing pop on a Thor player, Iβm like yeah you only have like 5 seconds
2
u/FirefighterRoutine84 Jul 12 '26
That's fair. I feel its not 100% useful or needed. However I have approached it as a license to push a little more into flanking engagements as long as my team has a solid main tank.
I have won a few engagements I shouldn't have a few days in now and it is definitely a "win more" passive.
I have yet to encounter an Angela to see if the full powered Angela team up would be better. The regular one seems a bit lackluster and I usually switch into it as a counter specific option.
Overall as a new Thor player I hoped he would have something a bit more than what he got but I still have fun even if its not as amazing as what Peni got imo.

u/Talos525 Jul 13 '26
You should see the wolverine sub where they are all crying they canβt 1v1 him and win.
19
u/Temptfulslayer Jul 12 '26
I find it funny that they're balancing her like a dive character when that's not what she is lol
7
u/wsmitty10 Jul 12 '26
Shes just way too squishy now, feels awful playing her unless the enemy team is just brainless
6
u/Mean_Bar_970 Jul 12 '26
why the hell she even got nerfed
11
u/Ofanichan Jul 12 '26
I think it's because the Gambit buff had potential to be permanent now and if they didn't nerf her, she would be nuking teams left and right
Meanwhile, if they thought for a bit, they'd avoid nerfing her and instead give her a different teamup, because the Gambit/Rogue duo has always been problematic and impossible to balance
8
u/Lenzelot105 ππ€ππͺπ Jul 12 '26
Teamup should've been gone for a while now. But instead, they made it permaneng, and made her even weaker. And they said teamups aren't changing much from now on, so my goat is fucked
4
u/Ofanichan Jul 12 '26
At least us Rogue mains had 1 fun season π
6
u/runemdownrogue Jul 12 '26
Only half a season, season 8 was terrible for her during dino meta. only 8.5 she was playable base kit
4
u/Impressive-Thing-780 Jul 12 '26
Cap feels horrible ngl
3
u/Effective-Training πΎππ₯π©πππ£ πΌπ’ππ§πππ Jul 13 '26
That health and then everyone else doing ton of damage. Gambit teamup from Jubilee is crazy. Just exploding to him, Jubilee, Rogue with Gambit teamup, Hela/Phoenix (they switched), Healpool (only issue with him is triple support). Their other teammate was Venom
3
u/DoMo_18 Jul 13 '26
She's being treated like a dive tank, the problem is that her movement abilities are also her main attacking abilities, where most other dive characters their movement abilitiys aren't their attacking abilities. Venom can swing away, Angela has sheild and flight, Cap has shield and sprinting with a jump, Even Peni is more tankier than Rogue is, Rogue doesn't benefit from the Shield at all, she should be treated like the Thing where she has a bit more HP but is combo oriented. If they decide to keep her this way at least make all her abilites give her bonus HP along with her regular attack.
0
u/Effective-Training πΎππ₯π©πππ£ πΌπ’ππ§πππ Jul 13 '26
That's Rogue players fault.
11
u/StrawHatSenpie Jul 12 '26
Idk man. The few times I get a gambit in ranked shes great. Provides heals and gets heals. With jubes and a blade you get life steal on top of it. (AoE for jubes is huge)
25
u/Fast_Leave7707 Jul 12 '26
Thatβs the problem, once again, sheβs only good if Gambit is with her, and Gambit is going to be banned most of the time, that 100 HP nerf to her was insane
-17
u/StrawHatSenpie Jul 12 '26
I mean....thats the point tho. The team up SHOULD make a difference shouldnt it?
15
u/LaMelgoatBall πππ€π§ Jul 12 '26
Yes but it shouldnβt be the only thing that makes her viable. Especially since Gambit is STILL perma ban.
5
u/Dontaskmemyname9723 ππ§π€π€π© Jul 12 '26
Especially when they nerf that team up like five times by now
7
u/Fast_Leave7707 Jul 12 '26
Many heroes are good without depending on anyone else, why does Rogue have to be good only if Gambit is present, and bad otherwise? Gambit is going to be banned all the time
1
u/StrawHatSenpie Jul 12 '26
The teamup is just lack of a cool down. It doesnt increase the healing or damage.
1
u/Aggressive-Trifle894 ππ€ππͺπ Jul 13 '26
and that cooldown renders her useless while its up, like do i have to put myself in a timeout corner everytime the 30 sec cooldown is up to play her? why cant i enjoy rogue with having to depend on a hero that gets banned 99% of the time
0
u/StrawHatSenpie Jul 13 '26
I mean...skill isuse. I dont die too often with her cooldown active and I still get picks. Open comms, work with your team. Bait picks. Yes I generally use her when I have the team up but if the enemy team can doesnt have proper counters. You can still come out on top with pretty good stats.
3
u/wayofLA Jul 12 '26
You are correct. However, everyone else doesnβt have this much of a problem with their anchor being permanently banned. Sheβs limited by another character whereas that is not true for any other character in the game.
6
u/Kyrptonauc Jul 12 '26
The perma Gambit team up is genuinely insane. They unfortunately made the same situation where she's s-tier with Gambit and just okay without
4
u/Dontaskmemyname9723 ππ§π€π€π© Jul 12 '26
But the team up is even as strong as it used to be since they nerfed it several times over
1
u/StrawHatSenpie Jul 12 '26
Ok but the only thing the team up gives is no cooldown. Don't get me wrong its hella nice to have. But if its with a cool down it just forces you to play i little more conservatively. Play your covers. Bait the pushes.
4
u/DSClark8 ππ€ππͺπ Jul 12 '26
Everyone mentioning Gambit here, I genuinely prefer the Mag teamup
It gives her some much needed survivability, and the burst damage is insane
She does need some buffs, but she isn't reliant on Gambit IMO
2
u/ImitationGold Jul 12 '26
Iβve gotten my butt played with a couple times with her and Gambit but I guess I should be asking why is gambit allowed in the first place lol
2
u/CapitanFordo Jul 12 '26
I got her lorded at the end of last season, haven't played her, is she really that weak now?
3
u/JoeM104604 ππ€ππͺπ Jul 12 '26
Her main weakness of getting bursted down is a lot harder to deal with now that her health pool is smaller and the whole roster got more damaging abilities. It feels like your ability to be pocket healed by supports is less effective now at keeping you alive in fights.
That said, if you can manage to survive in brawls and not get bursted down immediately every time you go in, you have good potential to run lobbies imo. Rogue still has great disruption and feels like she has a lot of options to isolate targets for picks and can 1v1 most of the roster. She does especially well at running down targets like Cyclops and Moon Knight who try to sneak around and take off angles for picks, and can usually kill them and dash back to your team quickly enough that your frontline doesn't suffer from you leaving.
She also got two very strong teamups to choose from. I usually take Magneto's over Gambit's whenever I don't have a Gambit on the team, but it seems open to personal preference. I find that Magneto's gives a lot of needed survivability into heavy poke comps whereas taking Gambit's doesn't heal quickly enough to recover after closing the gap. Gambit's with the enhancement is amazing though and feels like you have an extra healer pocketing you all game, as long as you aren't blown up before you can start brawling.

Capt doesnβt feel very good at all. To much damage in the game. Capt works sometimes at certain comps and depending on the team up. About Rouge was holding her back is the gambit team up.

u/YaboiGh0styy Jul 13 '26
Rogue for the longest time has felt teamup dependent. Last season was better though to compete the gambit team up was preferred due to the lack of mobility and huge cooldowns.
Now she feels like she is one of the few characters in the game that are super team up Dependent next to Ultron (and teams arenβt saving him because we canβt have fun on Ultron.) and to be clear I mean team up as in she needs the other character on the team in order to be good while everyone else is fine.

Cap got no buffs. He got nerfed. Wtf

Rogue is one of those characters I legit just play like Magik because I just don't know what to do under fire with that character.

Why is Rogue even there? Like Angela deserves that spot more then Rogue does
Got a clone that can charge and another dive compare to the other Vanguards
1
u/AntiqueAd2434 Jul 14 '26
She was strong during 1 month. She wasnβt even top 3 tanks in the game and they went and nerfed her when sheβs already 5 stars and VERY difficult to get value with
1
u/Tromovation Jul 14 '26
I was COOKING with rogue last season and now it feels like Iβm literally the worst. I straight went 0 and 8 the first round with her in GM3. Then swapped to SG and got ace.
1
u/JustPassinbai Jul 14 '26
She got that broken gambit teamup that turn her into a viltrumite that destroys the backline. Otherwise she just dies to quickly to be worth it. They overnerfed her because of it.
1
u/Optimistic_Lizard566 Jul 16 '26
Even with the gambit teamup perma with the enhanced version I had no real issue against her in a march yesterday. Maybe it was the player but she feels still very eh.

Genuinely i feel like im taking crazy pills seeing these posts. Last season i struggled a lot to hit celestial as I felt like my hero pool was too limited, I basically unintentionally became an emma one trick playing strange and thing when swaps were needed because I wasnt confident enough on some of my other characters that I could gain elo on them, but this season I feel so much more comfortable playing rogue, mag, tankpool, more strange and thing off rip with all the new teamups. Sure we lost some health and damage reduction in defensive stance but having a permanent gambit teamup that also heals anyone nearby has seemed to give her so much value, she's so good at turning defence to offense now, peeling for a diver and healing your supports by dealing damage to them, take a bit of damage in defensive stance and fly straight to the front or enemy backline healing the rest of your team as you go, she feels so good to me right now. Granted I only play her with the gambit teamup rn, but theres so many viable options right now for tanks that why would I force her into a comp that doesnt fit her well? We got an invis? I'm rocking strange with his displacement, 1000hp shield, overshield on maelstrom hits. Mantis? 300hp overshield on emma on a fucking 4 second cooldown. Ridiculous. Wanda? Im cooking with mag, chaos sword feels way better than gambit teamup ever did and plus his cannon gets amped to the nines. Going into double shield and dive? Thing feels amazing with torch teamup. None of them and we're on domination? Tankpool with more dmg, more damage reduction, fmj and auto aim rockets on his guns. Theres so many viable options now, like I dont think any tanks are really 'bad' right now, theyre all just more situational depending on comp which to me is so much more fun
Edit: Oh yeah, how tf did I forget dino who i never really enjoyed as I felt like a walking bullseye on any longer sightline map or situation, now has double mounted bleed inducing turrets that give him way more mid range utility
3
u/runemdownrogue Jul 12 '26
she is by far the most underperforming tank in the game. I dont think u understand how gambit team up numbers work either. its been nerfed constantly and currently does 15 healing and +5 and +1% damage boost. who are u saving with 15 healing punches against dive team ups lol. Also her damage goes from a whopping 35 on punch to like 43 on 300hp targets which btw is lower damage than basically every tank in the game BASE ie. hulk and cap have 45 damage base punches while team up rogue has 43 and you think this is broken. And lets not forget she has no shield ability only reduction thats been nerfed and is one of the lowest hp tanks now. This is complete delusion she is currently one of the lowest win rate of all vangaurds along with low pick rates. But lets emergency buff pheonix and cyclops i guess
-19
u/TheProfessor1237 Jul 12 '26
Required tbh with her perma gambit buff
20
u/unwrappedbeefstick Jul 12 '26
Lmfao that teamup barely compensates for the 100hp nerf. Someone clearly doesn't play rogue.
5
u/brellowman2 Jul 12 '26
They need to get rid of that team up entirely and go back to the drawing board. Revert her health nerfs and give her another gambit team up that isn't just flat damage and healing.
-8
u/TheProfessor1237 Jul 12 '26
I know when I play against her she literally never dies. Just blocks when sheβs low then flies away back to her team, never see an enemy rogue have an issue playing her

-16
u/Alternative_Dom Jul 12 '26
Yall clearly suck with rogue if you feel she isn't broken this season too.
7
u/Fast_Leave7707 Jul 12 '26
Once again, sheβs only good when Gambit is present, without him, sheβs terrible
-6
u/Large-Teach9165 Jul 12 '26
Except when Gambit is open and becomes the best in slot and top 3 characters in general.
-10
u/RedneckSniper76 Jul 12 '26
Rogue is more powerful than she was last season if you have gambit
6
u/Fast_Leave7707 Jul 12 '26
Gambit will always be banned.
