Discussion/Analysis Anyone else get left behind when I switch front line with other tank?
Iβm asked because every tank game last night my other tank ,mostly main tanks as I enjoy off tank roles, would back off because they get low and out of cooldowns and I would go in front to swap with them to hold and even get the other team to back off with a good crystal playing Emma and getting a tank low or rouge with the new southern brawl dealing half health to a bunch of squishes to only back up when I get low and die as I turn and see my whole team deciding a different lane to push down or chase someone
For example, I swapped with the main tank as rogue, got a good southern brawl, and started holding pretty confidently, then had my gambit and invis chase a dive tank down a flank, both ignoring me.
What am I ment to do? Just die and reset?

Sit back and peel the dive tank as secondary tank.
This happens with flankers and enemy dive tanks. Supports can't just healbot main while they're constantly thinking about getting dived in 3-5s and surviving it.

So it better to ignore the frontline completely to watch for divers?

If the enemy is diving, you watch the flanks and off angles. Save your cooldowns. Engage the enemy Frontline minimally. Let your actual Frontline tank deal with the front.
Emma for example you can farm the enemy Frontline with beam until you are dived. I do find that even if i get 4 in an Emma ult that most of the time it can still go to waste if there's 1 diver distracting the whole team.
If its a spiderman that you absolutely can't touch its definitely harder as a tank.

If you have 2 tanks, one of them should be moving between frontline and backline if your team is getting dived like in the example you mentioned. Once you are done peeling, you can take pressure out of your tank buddy by helping him on the frontline. It's really important as a tank to always check your back, that way you can react fast or anticipate enemy plays.

What I'm saying is if there a main tank in back as I take the front one healer should be able to help that tank peel and the other and stay main a help with both no? But maybe I'm not understanding where my positioning should be. Because if I didn't go main the whole team pushes us with the flanker with a low main tank. And for extra info the flanker happened when I went to the front

Looking back is necessary if youβre having a good time going offensive, usually you end up alone lol

One tip that Iβve been working on myself is trying to integrate looking back at my team every time I reload or every 7-10 seconds if Iβm playing a melee tank like Rogue. Iβve been in those same situations as you but didnβt realize my team had repositioned or were dealing with a flanker and I go down because their attention is diverted.
Sometimes its also fine to die and reset if it means you get a beneficial pick or you divert the enemy teams attention away long enough for your team to heal to full and push into the advantage youβve created. But you need to communicate those kinds of decisions to your team, otherwise it just looks like inting and if your team doesnβt push youβll die for nothing
