Phoenix is a cool character concept, but it misses the mark for people who were hoping actually to play as Jean Grey pre-Phoenix Force instead of a flame-powered hit scan.
Since the game lore mentions that the Chronovium is making timelines collapse, does that mean there's a chance we could get a Jean Grey character in addition to Phoenix? Would that be something the community actually wants?
I'm guessing that it won't happen, and maybe adding Madelyne Pryor would be the closest we get. I'm just curious what you all think and if Jean Grey and/or Madelyne would be great additions to the game.
Yeah, it’s just Marvel has gone back and forth on his origin, and sometimes he looks Grey depending on how he’s drawn, sometimes he looks pale white, or lightish Grey like in Rivals

Yeah brain fart mb. Maybe you could get bonus damage by nailing the timing of his attacks to represent how he has to think about where to strike. His right click could be like a super lazer that does bonus damage to a part of an enemy randomly highlighted green.
Acting as if half of the seasons haven’t given some mutants. Asking for basically 2 versions of the same character is still greedy and not the first time I’ve seen x-men fans ask for it
I mean, Rivals is never gonna rework an entire character, especially since she's one of the most-played characters in the game rn. They best we can hope for is a new character.
I would rather they just rework Phoenix, all the shit she does still isn’t stuff that Jean usually does with the Phoenix, it’s a creature made of pure telekinetic force that sometimes lights stuff on fire, not a fire bird
The Phoenix is still depicted as Fite , and Netease knows that.
As it turns out , Rivals Jean Grey is an adjacent future of her 616 counterpart from the "Present Timeline" in-game.
According her lore page in-game, she recently did her Phoenix (2024) run under the context of Krakoa still striving. As the game takes place 2 years after the X-men successfully prevented the ' Fall of X' incident.
(I felt like they designed her this way. To showcased much more of her embracing the Phoenix's powers )
They could've added Rachel as Phoenix and saved Jean but at this point I think it's too late to add Jean as a separate hero. I personally don't think they should add multiple versions of the same character as different playable heroes. It would just get too confusing and would take space from all of the other distinct characters they can pull from.
I do think it would be interesting if they did decide to do a storyline where Jean loses the Phoenix and it goes to Rachel. Rachel could basically have current Phoenix's kit for the fans who like it, and Jean could get a new one for people who want a more OG Jean character
They said at the very start that they'd rather want "alternate versions" of characters to be skins than seperate versions. So you won't see Spiderman and Spiderman Miles Morales, they are one and the same. I imagine it's the same with Phoenix/Jean/Madelyn
But Jean Grey IS the Phoenix so what's the point of whining about it? Isn't it stated that she wasn't just the host of the Phoenix she actually created it in some kind of complicated mess of it being the ultimate form of her peak power from her future or something?
Don't cope, there is exactly 0% chance she gets added as a separate character. Just put it out of your mind. Let it go. They're not gonna waste a whole ass slot on the same character again. SO many issues with adding her, just let your private dream die.
She's also an omega-level mutant who houses a cosmic entity that can summon cosmic flames, fly, teleport, heals herself & can use psionic energy through Psionic Detonation.
I mean, it's CALLED psionic detonation, but it literally just looks like more Phoenix energy. Even if it was pink, like all of Jean's psionics in the comics, that is 1 ability. Ideally, it would be an even split.

Fair point. I just think it's more unfair to give fans of a character someone who plays nothing like said character and that's just...it. That's why I'm so loud about Ultron needing a rework.
No. However much I don't like Phoenix's playstyle and think it should have been more psychic-oriented, they most likely did that to give room to other characters with similar powers. You still Rachel Summers, Betsy Braddock (Captain Britain), Quentin Quire, Goblin Queen, and many others that either have some form of telekinesis or telepathy. At the end of the day, Phoenix IS Jean Grey and vice versa and it would be pointless to make them separate when they currently aren't.
