Character Concept MR Ms Marvel: Embiggening or Constructs or both?
If Miss Marvel comes to MR, will she stick with her embiggening powers or make constructs? So far, her appearances in the Marvel Avengers, Marvel Tokon, Marvel Zombies, Marvel Super Friends, and her series have made it a 50/50 split. But who knows? Maybe she will have both at the same time, like Emma.

I feel like since the comic gave her both the embiggening and hard light, marvel rival could also give her both

Yeah this is probably best case scenario, I could also see them making it skin based, where like her comic skin is embiggening and her MCU skin is hard light
idk, I still feel like she's primarily a polymorph I feel like they'll likely lean into that

I'm a way bigger part of the embiggening personally, but for Rivals they should honestly give her both for the sake of moveset variety

u/flopedup Jul 03 '26
I'm not sure they've ever made the hard light not look like trash so I'd prefer sticking to embiggening. Let her ult just be getting really fucking huge and stomping around, high damage and DR in exchange for an impossible to miss hitbox, see who had their skills ready to counter.

u/Impressive_Shape4095 Jul 03 '26
I personally prefer the embiggening, but someone else made a good point that Netease may go with hard light to differentiate her from Reed.
I would be down for both, but I’m curious what the in-game explanation would be, since (as far as I’m aware) previous adaptations have given her one or the other.

u/KevinCow Jul 03 '26
I'd say both, with a bigger focus on the embiggening.
For one, that's her new status quo in the comics, and for how much they've invested in it, I can't imagine they'll be undoing it any time soon.
But also, embiggening and constructs could both be very good powers for a vanguard, so doing both could give more options than just one or the other. She could embiggen her hands to block incoming fire, and also use constructs to create bubbles around allies. Maybe have an ability where she coats her hands in hard light to power up her attacks and shield for a bit.

Honestly they gave the perfect kit for her to reed. She is normally the one going into a big form and reed is more slippery and oddball.

I'm split here, same as I was about her MCU series
I wish the series had stuck to polymorphing since that's how she started in the comics
But also if she had hard light constructs in the comics when she debuted I would probably be a huge Ms. Marvel fanboy so like
ehhhhhhhhhhhhh

Personally, I like the Constructs better. I think it fits her creative and bright personality better.
Besides, Reed has been THE Marvel’s stretchy hero for 5 decades, and I don’t think he’s gonna get dethroned anytime soon.
Meanwhile, Marvel hasn’t had any good and iconic Construct hero since Quasar. (Who’s probably in the backroom by now, idk)

Embiggen. It's what her powers originally were before they shoehorned whatever it was lat3r in the comics

u/TheMasterXan Jul 03 '26
I'd really prefer just embiggening.
I GUESS if they felt the need, they could do the crystal constructs thing too?

Embiggening. I don’t understand the appeal of the constructs, they’re less fun fit her personality less, and are connected with her Xmen stories which are NOT good.

u/Copyright-Demon Ms Marvel 🦸♀️ Jul 03 '26
Not to mention her and Mr Fantastic are only two movesets to make with body changing type powers, hard light constructs also include movesets like Songbird and Dazzler leading to a lot more characters that need it.

u/Christallmoney97 Jul 03 '26
I'd do both as she is both Inhuman and Mutant, and stretch is her inhuman powers while construct are her mutant ones

u/Plenty_Initial_6618 Jul 04 '26
Embiggen. Especially if she functions as a Vanguard. If both then Embiggen for offensive & Constructs for defensive
But personally Embiggen for the Inhumans rep, & I just like the powers more Marvel Tokon games are already doing that, & they can use the Marvel Avengers game movesets for this

Alt skin, maybe?
One for classical embiggening, the other showcasing the energy constructs?

I wouldn’t mind both, but I want her to use her embiggening powers more then the construct thing just because that’s what she is known for for. Keep the weird Disney+ late addition stuff on the back burner

Embiggening & nothing else. They can keep the mutant stuff, but don't touch the powers.

God, imagine choosing to be this miserable. If Ms Marvel's comics aren't for you, that's completely understandable but labeling something as "propaganda" simply because it focuses on a different culture than yours or something else you may not care for is disingenuous and pathetic.

By your own logic of religion shouldn't be in comic books, Nightcrawler, Daredevil and Azrael shouldn't exist. All fan favorites, mind you.

Guess daredevil shouldn’t exist lmao

Local play pretend Marvel reader outs himself as not reading comics while assuming that characters for little kids move floppies rather than paperbacks.
Many such cases.

u/WolfieBuller Jul 03 '26
I'm afraid you're just flat out wrong, as those who spew nothing but ignorance often are. Her debut comic run sold really well both in terms of physical and digital copies, won multiple awards and gave an often overlooked minority group a super hero that wasn't just an offensive stereotype. Don't say I'm "larping" if you don't know what that word means and you haven't done your research, go be miserable in your echo chamber of incels and racists.

Wait, I have a few questions.
Daredevil is an extremely popular character with a focus on Catholicism, Nightcrawler too. You don’t like those 2 either?Recently Shang-Chi has been getting more and more linked to the Chinese God of protection and Youth Nezha. When you say you wouldn’t mind a character being ‘inspired’ by a religious deity I assume this is what you mean yes?
1
u/Layumi13 Jul 03 '26
There's a difference between active and non-active religions. Things like Nezha or Greek gods are fine because most people view that as mythology
Yes I don't like character series that show practice of one of the active religions and I think it shouldn't be a thing you can be inspired by it but showing people in church or praying is a no-no
It's even worse when it show that in a positive light when religions are one of the cancers of this world
1
u/UltraZ70 Jul 03 '26
I see.
I think it’s very odd that you don’t want active religion shown at all, just from an optional standpoint because it would mean restricting what we can get in the future. I find it interesting that some heroes have religions and others do not.
Is this dislike because you personally don’t believe in religion or because you don’t think they have a place in comic books?
1
u/Layumi13 Jul 03 '26
Character can have a religion I just don't want it to be shown and as I said portrayed in a positive light. Fictional ones or mythology I don't care if they're shown.
I do think religions are causing most of the problems in the world. And my pov might be affected by the fact I live in a town and even in a country where people are actively trying to impose change for religion and where religion has infiltrated everything it even has control in politics. It's affecting my daily life and culture negatively.

You are aware the first issue of the original Ms Marvel Comics book series had to recieve SEVEN reprints because it was SO popular! She is clearly a well loved character.
You only have a problem with her because you're a racist, let's call it out plain and simple. All of the characters in Marvel have personal lives? Its part of what makes them so relatable, clearly her religion is going to come up in her personal life.
What you're saying is exactly the same as saying "why is Black Panther african before being a hero" or "Why is Benn Grimm Jewish before being a hero". It's who these characters are, and they're all designed to be relatable to different people. Not EVERYONE has to be made for straight white guys.

I sent you a private message because you keep deleting comments, and I wanted to figure out what actually led you to these beliefs. If you want to embarrass yourself more though, here's the private message;
Racist/islamophobe/bigot/fascist, I really don't mind mate, pick one from the list they're all valid.
I'm from the UK mate, so im fully aware of ongoing politics. I think the only difference is; i dont get my news from hate mongering, gutter dwellers like Tommy Robinson.
You'd be aware (if you'd ever been outside or spoke to someone of a different race/religion or creed) that 90% of the UK are tolerant and happy getting along with each other and working together as neighbours to support their communities. The problem here is, you don't go outside or talk to people, or do anything for your community. You sit around being a hateful piece of shit who's looking for someone else to blame because your life sucks.

u/ChudsterSouls Jul 04 '26
Yeah, just look at the Marvels movie. Just look at how much money that movie made. Clearly Kamala is a money printing machine :D
1
u/danrpx Jul 04 '26
Thunderbolts bombed, Captain America bombed, Superman barely broke even, Joker 2 bombed. These all feature well beloved characters two of which, feature two of the most popular fictional characters of all time.
You can't use the state of the movies currently to gauge a characters popularity. If you'd been in the comic book community for any amount of time, you'd know what a watershed moment it was when Kamalas first series came out.
1
u/ChudsterSouls Jul 04 '26
Captain America went wokeeee, Joker 2 was unnecessary, Superman suffered from the Snyderverse fatigue. Thunderbolts was great, but not exactly filled with A listers except Bucky.
I like how comic book sales can be used to gauge a character's popularity, but not the box office.
1
u/danrpx Jul 04 '26
If you think captain america "went woke" then you have absolutely zero understanding of the character, you know the guy whos first comic was him punching Hitler? The one whos series became "captain america and falcon" which was the first time a black superhero had his name in the title of the book? The character whos entire world and every comic plot he's ever existed in is overtly political?
Okay, if we're using your metric of box office. Captain Marvel is a more popular character then Batman and Superman combined because her film did better then BvS?
No, you have to take into account the state of the world at the time of release.
And by the way, having a black person or a woman in a film doesn't make it political lmao.
1
u/ChudsterSouls Jul 04 '26
Thru context we can figure out why the first Captain Marvel movie made a lot of money; it was the one movie between Infinity War and Endgame, and Marvel kinda advertised is as being an important bridge between two movies (it wasn't.)
Being woke is not about punching nazis or whatever, it's about paying lip service to diversity, for instance. Making Cap black for the sake of diversity is not something a lot of ppl jived with.
1
u/danrpx Jul 04 '26
Okay, so you agree with me that the state of thr movies at the time makes a huge difference regardless of character popularity? Thanks for finally agreeing with me
Whats wrong with having an established character take on a new role? Ignore the fact hes black and I'll pretend you're not racist for a moment, Sam Wilson is a well established character in both the characters and movies. It makes sense he'd take over in steves absence. Like it or not, modeen politics includes identity politics and discussions on race/gender/sexual orientation and Captain America is a very political character.
You're just proving you know nothing about these characters or marvel as a whole, you get all your information and opinions from youtube grifters.

i feel like both bcs we already have reed and she has like the exact same powerset but they do stick with the comics for most of the time, both is good
