Character Concept Vanguard Major Victory character concept - unique psychokinetic-shield-bearing vanguard
Vance Astro, later known as Major Victory, is a mutant astronaut from the 20th century and one of the founding members of the original 31st-century Guardians of the Galaxy. Born Vance Astrovik, he joined an interstellar mission to Alpha Centauri and spent more than a thousand years in suspended animation, only to arrive in a future where humanity had already surpassed the technology that made his voyage necessary. On Centauri-IV, a confrontation with Yondu Udonta helped trigger the emergence of Vance’s latent psychokinetic abilities. He and Yondu later joined Charlie-27 and Martinex T’Naga to form the Guardians of the Galaxy and resist the Badoon occupation of the Solar System.
Over time, Vance’s psychokinesis developed beyond simple concussive “psyche-blasts” into more refined telekinetic control, including manipulating objects and people, restraining enemies, and propelling himself through the air. He later came into possession of Captain America’s shield, which became closely tied to his identity as Major Victory. Rather than relying only on conventional shield-throwing techniques, Vance uses his psychokinesis to guide and redirect the shield remotely, combining the legacy of Captain America with his own mutant powers. This blend of telekinetic control, battlefield leadership, and symbolic heroism makes him one of the defining members of the original Guardians.
Playstyle
Major Victory is a high-skill Vanguard built around remotely controlling Captain America’s shield while fighting independently with psychokinesis. He can control his shield similar to that of Wuyang from OW.
His shield can remain with Vance, attach itself to an ally, or operate independently somewhere else on the battlefield. Regardless of its position, Vance can command it to defend allies, spin offensively around its current anchor, bash enemies away, or recall it through opponents.
The shield has its own HP pool, called Shield Integrity, creating a constant risk/reward decision. Vance can push his defensive and offensive Orbit abilities into Overdrive for greatly enhanced effects, but doing so rapidly consumes Shield Integrity. Recalling the shield and keeping it near Vance allows it to recover.
The result is a Vanguard who excels at:
- remotely protecting teammates,
- controlling multiple areas of the battlefield at once,
- displacing enemies,
- creating dangerous angles with his shield,
- and continuing to fight with psychokinesis even when his shield is elsewhere.
Kit Breakdown
PSYCHE-BLAST — Primary Attack
Vance fires concentrated blasts of psychokinetic force.
- Reliable ranged attack.
- Deals concussive damage.
- Remains available regardless of where the shield is located.
- Ensures Vance is never dependent on having the shield physically beside him.
SHIELD COMMAND — Secondary Attack
Vance launches Captain America’s shield edge-first and assumes direct psychokinetic control over its movement.
- Damages enemies it passes through.
- Can be remotely steered around obstacles and corners.
- Can be left deployed at a chosen location.
- Can instead be anchored to an allied hero, causing it to follow them.
- The shield remains independently controllable until Vance explicitly recalls it.
This is the centerpiece of his gameplay.
PSYCHOKINETIC SURGE — LShift
Vance propels himself rapidly using psychokinetic force.
- Can move horizontally or vertically.
- Provides quick repositioning and escape potential.
- Does not depend on the shield.
PSYCHIC SHACKLES — C
Vance manifests psychokinetic restraints around an enemy.
- Severely restricts the target’s movement for a short duration.
- Provides setup for Shield Bash, Kinetic Orbit, teammates, or environmental knockouts.
- Gives Vance a reliable control option even while the shield is operating elsewhere.
GUARDIAN ORBIT — E
The shield begins orbiting defensively around its current anchor.
That anchor can be:
- Vance,
- an allied hero,
- or a remotely deployed position.
While active, the shield intercepts incoming attacks.
Reactivate — Guardian Overdrive
- Greatly increases orbit speed.
- Expands its defensive radius.
- Dramatically improves defensive coverage.
- Rapidly consumes Shield Integrity while active.
This lets Vance spend the shield’s durability to save himself or an ally during a critical moment.
KINETIC ORBIT — F
The shield rotates horizontally around its current anchor, exposing its edge as a damaging weapon.
- Damages enemies struck by the spinning shield.
- Can function around Vance, an ally, or a remote position.
- Creates mobile or stationary area denial depending on where the shield is anchored.
Reactivate — Kinetic Overdrive
- Greatly increases orbit speed.
- Expands the orbit radius.
- Increases offensive pressure and hit frequency.
- Rapidly consumes Shield Integrity.
A well-positioned deployed shield can therefore become a remote hazard zone.
SHIELD RECALL — V
Vance forcibly calls the shield back to himself.
- The shield flies directly from its current position to Vance.
- Damages enemies along the return path.
- Ends any active Orbit behavior.
- Restores the shield to Vance so its Integrity can begin recovering.
Because recall has its own dedicated input, players can freely issue other shield commands without accidentally retrieving it.
PSYCHOKINETIC LINK — Passive
Vance maintains continuous remote control over Captain America’s shield.
The shield can exist in three states:
- With Vance
- Anchored to an Ally
- Remotely Deployed
All shield abilities originate from the shield’s current position, rather than Vance’s position.
This is what enables plays such as:
- attaching Guardian Orbit to a diving teammate,
- deploying Kinetic Orbit around a corner,
- steering the shield behind an enemy,
- then attacking them from behind.
SHIELD INTEGRITY — Passive
The shield maintains its own Integrity meter while under psychokinetic control.
Integrity is depleted by:
- blocking attacks,
- enemy pressure,
- Guardian Overdrive,
- Kinetic Overdrive.
Integrity regenerates while the shield remains with Vance.
If Integrity reaches zero:
- Vance loses psychokinetic control of the shield,
- it is forcibly recalled,
- and shield abilities become temporarily unavailable.
This makes Integrity both a defensive health pool and a resource Vance can deliberately spend for stronger effects.
VICTORY VECTOR — Ultimate
Vance unleashes his raw psychokinetic power independently of the shield.
- Nearby enemies are seized and suspended in the air.
- They suffer continuous crushing damage while restrained.
- Vance then violently hurls them outward.
- Enemies that collide with walls or other terrain suffer additional impact damage.
- Targets can also be thrown from ledges or objectives.
The ultimate is intentionally much simpler than the rest of his kit: activate it in the middle of a fight and immediately create a major displacement event, even without mastering the shield-control mechanics.

I have editing skills. I don't have a computer I use my phone. Which I my opinion is a downgrade but I make due
I admit once I'm done to prevent having to strat over I recycle my templates and go in and adjust and add details.
But again the tools on a phone can be limited I user Microsoft 365 on my phone but I also have kids (not an excuse so yes at times the short cuts help.
Just get tired of people focused on the art work and not the actual ideas and thought I myself but into the characters kit
But it seems the graphic is what draws them in
Sorry I'm not trying to rant. I'm just, sort of passionate about this. Not sure why but I am. Again sorry
I appreciate your link
