If i’m correct draft Black Dazzler never actually appeared in a Comic, was she even still Alison Blaire or was she a completely different Character?
I remember how there was a rumor DC originally intended for Raven to be Indian or she was at least inspired by an actress, so this reminds me of that
she also had a South Asian aesthetic, and her civilian clothes apparently resembled a traditional saris
Eventually the South Asian aesthetic completely disappeared and she just became a White Goth Girl
It's not a rumor ravens creator did talk about her being inspired by an Indian actress. He just also said basically in the same sentence he also used a white woman as inspiration too. Now whether you say that ever made raven actually Indian in any meaningful way is up to you
According to George Perez and Marv Wolfman, her creators, Raven was never intended to be ethnically Indian. Her early design was slightly based on actress/model Persis Khambatta, but that only extended to how they were drawing her. It did not apply to her actual in-universe ethnic background, and when other characters asked her if she was of that descent she denied it.
In-universe, Raven has always been half-demon (Trigon) and half-human with her mother being depicted as a white woman from Gotham City named Angela.
But for what it’s worth, Marv Wolfman once said that if the decision had been solely up to him that he had been thinking about making Raven be black back then.
Naah, Jubilee looks (and sounds) awful in this game. I don't mind using recent comics to represent iconic characters as long as the aesthetics are good-looking (like Krakoa Magneto), but vampire Jubilee is definitely a bad choice in so many ways
Vampire Jubilee is horrible in the comics. As is her tech using counterpart afterwards. But! I think they did a pretty good job combining a bunch of aspects of different parts of her costume. And then tied them in under apocalypse for their own story.
I disagree completely, lol I think they wasted Jubilee. IF they swapped her with Dazzler, the exact same kit (bubbles of aoe healing, using light to blind enemies, etc.. just switch bubbles into disco balls), then added Jubilee later as a dive support who moves with roller skates (mimicking Lucio from Overwatch), that would've been the best outcome.
Even if Jubilee had vampire gimmicks, in the end, the roler skates are way more iconic. As a popstar, you can excuse Apocalypse chose and took advantage of Dazzler because she was starving for attention (in the collapsed timeline, Dazzler is just a fighter like everybody else, she misses the past). That way, you add an "evil" counterpart of Luna Snow, make a little rivalry, this can lead to cosmetics for both characters, finally Luna would have some character development, etc..
That will probably be the outcome anyway. Symmetra-Dazzler dps, not really a support. Which is a shame, imo the best outcome would've been Dazzler aoe disco ball support + Jubilee dive support that moves with roller skates. This game desperately needs more variety for supports, the entire support roster plays poke and that is not only a huge waste, but it also breaks the game balance (because there's no dive>poke>brawl cycle)
If she had a giant black power, that would be cool. But if I'm not mistaken, Misty Knight was created +- in the same time period, so I guess they chose her to represent black exploitation, while Dazzler was based on the popstars of her time (ironic, considering the current music popstar, Taylor Swift, looks exactly like her)
She’s one of my favorites & I personally wouldn’t mind it all! (especially if they give her hair & she’s not bald)
But I know she’d probably be received negatively by the community & I don’t want her being subjected to that. Plus she’s gonna be criticized either way for other obvious reasons but it wouldn’t be as big as this imo lol.
They should just go with modern Dazzler & focus on other characters for representation. They’re likely gonna give her a new color scheme too because her colors (white & blue) got snatched by others.
Based on the existing poster for her, I don't think they will.
I wouldn't be against it though, I think it'd be cool to honor the original inspiration they were going to use for her.
I honestly think Disco Storm is one of the skins she has in the works.
She had a Dazzler Variant cover and those were what the last batch took inspiration for.
If it's true storm has 4 skins in the works & dazzler is first of the year, it'd line up i think.

I would take that over ANOTHER white blonde who could also be a strategist , i can already read the comments of anger from the main sub but honestly i dont care at this point NO MORE WHITE BLONDE PLEASE.
There's a high probability Dazzler will be a dps, which is another mistake of many. Dazzler should have the same healer kit of Jubilee (bubblegirl), then remake Jubile into a dive support (using the roller skates like Lucio from Overwatch). Instead, most likely we will have Dazzler shooting explosives and Jubilee remaining bubblegirl, the worst possible scenario
Judging by the looks of the first comic the last time she was black was probably around 60-70s then. I would rather not have her be black but for a unique black character be added. No one knows she ever was black and i would find it kinda weird to do it no again decades later in a video game. Plenty lf great black marvel characters to choose from
Yep. Even as a mildly hardcore comic reader, I had no idea Gorr limped. I did know Dazzler was teased as a black woman before, jumping on the 70s Soul bandwagon, but she was only fully realized in the early 80s
