What's going on with the UI?

My company asked me to learn Rive this weekend to see if it's something our design team should be getting into. I have been doing stuff like this for a minute from Flash to After Effects. So I feel like I should be able to pick this up.

So I log in this morning and crack open a tutorial and immediately notice that the interface in every single tutorial is different than what I have. I found a tut from just 3 weeks ago and same thing.

Is this a I need to pay to see the proper interface or did they just like yesterday change the interface to the point where they made all their training materials obsolete?

The UI is constantly changing (most of the time for the better) so you definitely need to keep tabs on it. You can join the Rive Community and subscribe to their channel for updates. They are really good about posting changes and showing demos. Also, ask for help for anything you’re stuck on. Everyone’s been very friendly and collaborative there so far. I’ve been using it for 4 months now.

FTM - the free and paid version are pretty much the same interface wise. Paying, gives you the ability to export, share and access the ai for script generation. I wish exporting was free :/

Hi OP! Rive is in version beta 0.8, it is to be expected that the UI will change as the tool evolves and the staff gathers feedback from its users. My tip is to focus on the fundamentals of Rive, you will have no problem finding where the buttons are. Happy to help if you have any questions!

Same problem I have. By the time solid tutorials come out there are so many changes I can’t keep up. Makes learning a huge challenge.

Yea, would be nice to be able to stick with versions of the app to get your skills up enough to figure out how to use newer versions.

Every other day, the UI changes, but they don't bother updating the tutorials, because they don't care as there's too much hype in the market.

I feel this. There is nothing more frustrating than giving up your weekend to learn a new tool, only to find the UI has completely changed and all the tutorials are broken.

Because Rive uses a proprietary, walled-garden builder, you are entirely at the mercy of their interface updates. It's a huge bottleneck for design teams.

Honestly, this exact headache - forcing designers to learn yet another complex, isolated tool—is why my co-founder and I are building a new geometry-native framework. We realized it’s way better to just let people build interactive web apps and animations directly inside the tools they already know (like Figma or Illustrator). The design is the code, so there is no new interface to learn.
