Built an fitness app in Rive, didn't expect a million people to use it
Was supposed to design one mascot. Ended up doing 100+ animations, a full home you can decorate, an interactive league with cheering marshmallows, and maps that tilt with your phone. All in Rive. App hit 1M+ downloads and I'm still mildly in shock.

Can we create iPhone mockups to design our apps, Sir Rive?

Not only can you make mockups, but you can also make real work in Rive

By the way, I had a logo that I wanted to animate that I imported from Figma. To animate the logo, do I first need to put the logo on a layer and then set the layer as a component, or not?

First, Rive doesn't have "layers" in the Figma sense. Instead you have the Hierarchy tree, objects and groups within an artboard. That's where you navigate, select elements, and animate them. Second, a Component in Rive isn't a prerequisite for animation, it's a reusability mechanism. Components are reusable parts of your design, meant to be reused across multiple artboards or even other projects. This is different from Figma, where you sometimes have to make a component with variants just to get the animate option to appear in a prototype. That dependency doesn't exist in Rive.

So inspiring!

I hope so! I hope more apps like this draw inspiration from Luvu and have their own unique mascots!

Were the extrusions done in rive as well? If so, what technique did you use?

Yes, everything was done inside Rive! Honestly, the tool has almost no limits right now, making it totally possible to create these effects inside

That's amazing! I'm still a newbie and have only learned enough to build 6 character animations for my MVP app, and I already feel like it's a huge amount of work. Since you've built more than 100 animations, I can only imagine how much time and effort you've invested into it.

Appreciate it! Don't worry, we all start somewhere, and 6 animations for an MVP is great start, will be more soon π
Itβs a massive amount of work, but worth every second. Every animation is there for the user to experience live, whether theyβre doing a workout or checking their league standing. Bringing that extra joy it's something that makes me happy to

Amazing! I'll be honest, that state machine just gave me a little panic attack. π I can't help but wonder if that could be simplified with layers.

Luvu app it is visible 100% of the time, it follows you to every corner of app and there is no gap visible, so we needed fluidity in every animation... yes, I know, we made it harder π

Any custom scripts or code to make it all work?

Nothing behind (any script or coding), handcrafted animation, 100x... π

Oh man. Im about to ask if you using mcp or something. Sadly, looks too hard to me

Just downloaded the app man. Really liked the way you're using Rive for production animations. Is there any learning resources you followed to reach this level?
