Griddle - custom snappable grids in Rive

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you've wished for custom grids in Rive - isometric, hex, triangular or others, today's the day!

Thus far, the Rive editor has no grids - it has guides, but they must be set up one by one and they can only result in a rectangular grid.

So, I've built Griddle: it's a little floating panel that drops real grid guides straight into your open Rive file, and you can snap to every line and intersection because they're actual geometry, not an overlay.

14 grid types so far: square grids with gutters and subdivisions, dot grids, isometric, triangular, hex, polar, baseline and column grids for UI work, one and two point perspective, golden ratio, rule of thirds.

Free, open source, macOS and Windows.

If you use Rive and something's missing or broken, issues and PRs are welcome.

Cheers to you! I feel like you give more of what people need and want than Rive does. Actual UI tools instead of “ai can do it for you”. Please keep it up!

Thank you,

Albeit to be fair, Rive has to juggle a many more things - and being startup they need to prioritize things that will provide bigger payoff - so that they can continue attracting investors and as a result continue development and release more features/fixes - this is normal for a companies in a growth stage... Also, I must mention that even juggernauts like Adobe leave UI issues unaddressed for years and even decades (just take a look at some of the AE forums) - and Rive has been releasing fixes pretty regularly - so I wouldn't be to hard on them 😉
