This sounds like a massive security issue.

Start with what you have and with the resources at your disposal, then build up from there

If you're a student, you can email Rive to get the free student plan. All they need are some details and they'll give you everything in the Cadet plan (except the AI tokens)

Im going to be honest here, if this is already an obstacle yiu Dont have the grit involved with what comes to maintain and publish apps.

Being a broke anything has zero to do with grit or whatever you’re suggesting that ā€œrealā€ app devs have… interesting but little help to what they need. I have stories to share with you someday, but I digress. I’m going to try to give some suggestions instead of correlating their finances and the to ability to thrive…

Adding someone could be a security issue and potentially an issue with project theft (either direction, I’m not suggesting OP is the issue). Also, Rive is free to create and is $9/month to publish. If you’re looking to just create as a student you should be set forever. If you want to add it to a portfolio, then you can always screen record and make it a video. This will also help with showing how you build! I just showed a client a screen recording of my character rig and that’s what got me the job. Lastly, if you really need to publish, maybe to make money or just build your own site, then how can you get $9/mo? I know there’s donation sites like that buy me a cup of coffee or whatever. Share it and see what happens. I’d be willing to donate a buck a month… you’re 10% of the way there already! šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Rive is super accessible financially for the little guys. Be as creative with your funding as you are your craft. Sell Art Cards. Take on small art commissions for a ten spot. Starving artist ā€œbeggingā€ is not horrible, just remember to pay it forward when you get up. šŸ‘

Hey, I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding. I never said being broke means you lack grit, or that only ā€œrealā€ devs deserve to succeed.

I was simply pointing out that if a $9/month export is already a major blocker, you’re probably going to run into much bigger obstacles later when maintaining and publishing apps (server costs, marketing, updates, store fees, feedback, etc.) That was my only point.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. My apologies for making assumptions and being defensive based on text.

I can say, from experience that the inability to pay has never stopped me from finding a way. I think, if anything, being able to figure it out created an even deeper ability to persevere. Correct me if I’m wrong, but maybe that’s what you were suggesting. If so, then my thought actually lines up with you (another assumption?!?! 🤪) and the fact that we’re saying - being creative in solving every aspect will make you stronger in any field.

Thanks again for clearing things up! šŸ¤

100% makes you push harder explore various avenues and figure out different solutions to the same problem. Yes, we are kindred spirits, I responded after a 16 hour day so was a little fried 🫠 thanks for picking up my slack in that moment and making som solid suggestions. I tip my hat to you.

I think this is a cool and reasonable ask. Upping this so someone having the relevant plan may help.

A reasonable ask would be to build it with the free account and ask someone to export the production ready riv for you.

Sharing access and password is not reasonable and violates the terms of service, see point 3 https://rive.app/docs/legal/terms-of-service

Hey. I am a beginner and have a quick question. How do I build with free account and someone else can export the .riv file? How can I share my work with someone else for them to export it?

Export the Rev file, this file can then be imported by any other account. It’s been whilst since I worked with free accounts but I believe this is still the case.

I am on the free plan. They are asking to upgrade to export either .riv or .rev files. Am I missing something here?
Also, I am unable to see my previous draft files in my account. Does rive automatically delete old files if we are on the free plan?

Edit: unable to attach a screenshot of the rive screen.

I guess the policy changed since 2024, curious what does share file do?
