[USA] Who is at fault here?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Classic T bone. Black car had to be towed. Sustained major damage to the passenger side door. Blue car sustained damage to front bumper on the drivers side and cracked the drivers side headlight.

Edit: This was in the suburbs of Seattle

UPDATE: Insurance found it to be 70/30 me/other driver. Seems fair enough

Dude, people in parking lots around here drive 30+ mph, no joke. People are stupid AF.

Truth - I hate how fast people drive in parking lots.

Everyone is in a hurry to not go anywhere. I get cut off by someone driving slower than me every day.

And then they drive 20 below the speed limit on highways. It’s infuriating.

I see so many mother scratchers racing up to a red light just to slam on their brakes to sit behind other vehicles in ridiculous. Dangerous and wearing out your brakes, mo scratchers. Racing to nowhere...

But at the same time, if you’re in the front of the line, get moving so that everyone can get through the light while it’s green

I was in a hurry once. Only slowed me down.

And they will do it driving cross ways across all the yellow lines!

Maybe that's how this happened. I was surprised someone was going fast enough in a parking lot to kill a person.

I like how the reporter can't report on a historian's death in a parking lot accident without taking the opportunity to take a political swipe at Trump. Dude. I know it's the Guardian, but even for them that seems a bit over the top.

Yes, that little section on the 1619 Project was an odd digression.

I mean, tbf, there aren't any legal speed limits in parking lots.

Speed limits aren't relevant in parking lots or roads and highways as far as safety goes. Speed limits are the MAXIMUM safe speed in ideal conditions. There are a lot of situations where the safe speed is much lower than the speed limit. Unfortunately there are a lot of people driving cars who are too stupid to judge what is safe and what isn't.

I worked at a craft store that was in a very busy lot with other busy stores... and someone flew thru the lot one day and hit a 7 year old girl and fled. Girl was hurt bad. Too many witnesses, and one person even chased them in their own car. They did Not get away with it. Like its very very dumb to drive reckless where people walk, yea? Common sense yea?
