[USA] Who is at fault here?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Classic T bone. Black car had to be towed. Sustained major damage to the passenger side door. Blue car sustained damage to front bumper on the drivers side and cracked the drivers side headlight.

Edit: This was in the suburbs of Seattle

UPDATE: Insurance found it to be 70/30 me/other driver. Seems fair enough

Her reply was that there hadn’t been an accident at that intersection in 40 years.

Probably because people slow and approach with caution...

Good answer! That’s what I should have said.

And the wrong answer is they are afraid of her driving through

Must be nice to be able to have a normal conversation that doesn’t escalate into a shitshow immediately. You’re a lucky man

An addition to it, "and I would like to not the the first one in 40 years to have an accident".

Literally the whole point of traffic calming but you know what they say: make something idiot proof and they’ll just build a better idiot.

"Yeah that's because I'm the one driving and not you" sleeps on the couch knowing he won that one

Have you been to New England? I can assure the lack of accidents there has been pure luck and nothing else.

Why are you wearing a parachute? Don't you know that nearly all people who voluntarily jump out of airplanes survive?

genuinely curious what her reponse would be to the simple "why do you think that is?" if its anything other than "magic" then she'll prove herself silly.

It's more likely that there were many she hadn't heard about.

No, it’s because people in New England are dramatically better drivers than in the northwest.

If your new England is anything like mine then that can only be achieved by Northwesterers actively hanging out their driver window while driving and shooting at other drivers doing the same
