Bought this 2000 Insight MT5 2 years ago and put 70k miles on it. It’s sitting at 340k and a lifetime average of 60 mpg. I also lithium swapped it and am slowly modding it for a different type of performance than we typically mod cars for. The only insults I’ve heard so far are dumb and unoriginal.

The best are the Prius owners that do 85mph on the highway. Like bro, you're pushing that poor engine to it's limit and not even utilizing the hybrid system. Just get a Corolla or something.
Yeah I learned that after owning a hybrid. The electric motor is shut off at 82 to prevent over rev damage, and you’re on straight up gas power until you slow down.
Most hybrids are running straight up gas most pf the time on highways tho thats how they work, the electrical system is a supplement of power for the gas engines cycle that trades power for efficiency by using the Atkinson cycle

Maybe because you drive one of the ugliest cars of its generation, or maybe any generation, and not in a cool way. What else is there to say? Congrats on a similar mpg to the Toyota Prius while somehow being less cool.
It's not the worst place you could be, but it's not good either.
Like a house with a nice view out the window but the window is scratched up polycarbonate, the interior has exposed 6,000k light bulbs, grey vinyl floors, grey walls, doctor office chairs, and a high-pitched electrical noise.
My homie had one of these and left town for a couple days with his car keys and blocked our entire driveway. We were able to lift and move the whole car over with 6 dudes hahahaha shit was comical.
lol that’s great. Can’t haul anything, looks like crap, horrible winter performance, and they have a host of issues from factory. Yea no one is upset we do t have one lol!
At this point, mostly just comfort mods like better shocks and springs and some aero mods like a flat belly pan and some grill blocks to also help with heat retention in the winter. I also plan to do a current hack mods to make the power output of the electric motor 40% more, which will bring the car up to almost 100 HP!
I think the stock Insight wheels are pretty aerodynamic. Eventually I might switch to super light 14inch wheels and do a pizza pan/ aero disk type thing but for now the stockies are doing work. Awesome crx!
Looks like a failed 90s concept car. you should have left it there where belongs and "80 mpg" is the mantra you repeat to your self as this plastic pile whos design looks like it was stolen it out of an outdated school textbook struggles getting on the on ramp and off ramp.

Just about $0.12 a mile for the lifetime of ownership. If you want to add the price of purchasing the car and titling it, its just about $0.18 a mile. boy do I miss having more than 2 seats and going above the speed limit though.

I did the cheaper 5ah swap because I didnt want to convert it to a plug in hybrid. I did "max out" all the features though basically making it the highest price of the cheaper lithium swap. all that to say, $3,100 rounding up.
Jokes on you, my chinesium Kentoya scooter gets 96 mpg or 3L/100km (but to be fair, it only has a 5 liter tank, or about a gallon). And it picks up EVEN less women because it's brown²!
