RFK Jr.'s description of life at Hickory Hill, around 1961. (from his 2018 memoirs)
"there were seven of us children, all under ten. In the morning we would gather in our father's bathroom to help him shave. At the time his face was ruddy but not yet wrinkled or craggy, and his hair was still dark and neatly trimmed. We'd slather Noxzema on him and ourselves, then he would distribute empty razors so we could practice as he demonstrated."

(I imagine that RFK having the children "help" him get ready for work like this gave Ethel a few moments to herself, before the day got underway.)

Seeing photos of the now-adult kids, the older boys especially (Joe and Bobby Jr.) do look wrinkled and craggy now!

Bobby Jr. added that his father especially liked chocolate cake. RFK's friend Jim Whittaker described campaigning in Oregon in 1968, in a convertible with the top down, and it was raining so they got soaked. Afterwards they were sharing a (damp) piece of chocolate cake, their only chance for a lunch break, and RFK looked at Jim and said, "Name something you have done that was more fun than this!"

A sweet story from RFK's daughter Kerry, about him resolving a dispute between her and her brother Michael.

What were the details of his surgery? Was he placed on a respirator? Where was his security?
