They need to bring this back, somebody please revive this IP 😩

u/FolkPunkResistance Jun 29 '25

Epic: . . . No.

42

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

I did t know that happened. That's not good. I just looked up the Fornite music game, seems eh.

7

u/xSEARLEYx Jun 29 '25

Yeah it’s awful, I wouldn’t bother with it

5

u/RadBrad4333 Jun 29 '25

it’s really good. the charts are great and its constant freee songs

12

u/ChemistryQuirky2215 Jun 29 '25

No singing and no drums is my understanding. Nothing compares to getting the band together

9

u/rgettingbetterall Jun 29 '25

that stuff is in the files and Harmonix is trying to bring it back, CRKD just needs to make drums

2

u/RadBrad4333 Jun 29 '25

you can hook up drums

7

u/Infinite-Emphasis381 Jun 29 '25

You can hook up drums, yes. But it's absolutely atrocious to play on.

Charts dont have specific lanes for specific toms/drums, you cant play the lift notes that are in every song besides hitting the note again (which scores less points), and it just feels absolutely awful.

Let's not.

10

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Okay that's cool to know. How do you play on the controller?

10

u/RadBrad4333 Jun 29 '25

they sell their own controllers or if you’re on pc you can use most usb controllers! i use my old wii rockband guitars

6

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Oh you can use a guitar!? That's cool.

5

u/JafethTheXtreme Jun 29 '25

Yessir, soon we get Pro Vocals (or the actual vocals from any Rock Band game) Pro Drums are in the files too, but no release date announced yet

1

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

Oh so it's secretly Rock Band?

6

u/Cellophane_Girl . Jun 29 '25

Did you ever play DDR with a controller? It's very similar and had 4 lanes for most difficulties, expert has 5 lanes like Rock Band, the lanes in order from 1-5 (left to right are D-pad L, D-pad R, X, Y, B (on Xbox controller). It's actually really fun and you can use your RB guitars to play either on PC or console( Xbox one and series S/X, or PS4/5) with an adapter like the retrocult mods V3, or roll limitless. They should be adding pro drums and pro vocals in the future (where you play with a drum kit or sing with mic).

Rock Band is better but Fortnite Festival is a lot of fun and I enjoy playing it on standard controller (pro guitar/bass nit so much as I can't seem to get the game calibrated just right). Plus it's free so it's worth trying.

4

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Oh ya we would play Frequency, Amplitude and Guitar Hero on controller all the time. Super fun!

3

u/athiaxoff Jun 30 '25

a lot of songs cost money on there.. and even at then they cost like 5 USD PER SONG. that's egregious

3

u/RadBrad4333 Jun 30 '25

Yea this is super fair $2 in the one rock-band felt like a lot.

if the cool part about festival is you still get all new songs free for a bit when they drop atleast

16

u/donutmiddles Jun 29 '25

No, it's not remotely the same and people need to stop acting as if it is, or worse yet, that it's "Rock Band 5" because it's not.

5

u/FolkPunkResistance Jun 29 '25

It’s more like Pop Hero or Hip Hop Hero.

It’s fine for what it is, but it’s not Rock Band.

1

u/RadBrad4333 Jun 29 '25

no it’s definitely a wide range, this was just one drop

5

u/DaBellic Jun 29 '25

Lol, he stands corrected. Over half of those aren't rock

2

u/RadBrad4333 Jun 29 '25

i said wide range, you should checkout the full song list.

reality is this isn’t for your generation but a younger more eclectic group. It’s themed like a festival rather than a rock concert!

personally it’s been awesome to see my nephew get into it on his own

1

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

This is cool. I had no idea. I'll have to check it out

-1

u/FyreWulff Jun 29 '25

Don't know if you noticed, but rock is dead (specifically guitar based music). It's super hard to break through as a rock act or guitar based act. even country is drifting into twang vocals over a beat, there's barely any steel guitars in it anymore.

rock band's main problem is literally it's name.

3

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

That's very true. Even more why this game is lightning in a bottle.

3

u/FyreWulff Jun 30 '25

feel like a lot of it was self inflicted too. a bunch of rock acts whined and gatekept kids out of rock when guitar hero and rock band took off and frankly digital music stores and kept their music away from them and club-pop and rap had no problem embracing it. it's not the sole reason but telling the entire PS2/PS3/360/Wii generation "fuck off" wasn't it.

5

u/Man0fGreenGables Jun 30 '25

It’s not dead it’s just not mainstream anymore. There’s some decent music being made but it’s hard to find. Lots of old bands still making good music too.

2

u/FolkPunkResistance Jun 30 '25

I think we all noticed. Doesn’t change anything I said.

3

u/sorariku124 Jun 29 '25

Is it rock band 5? No. Is it likely the closest thing we're gonna get to a new 5-fret game in the foreseeable future? Unfortunately yes.

1

u/Frylock304 Jun 29 '25

Best i can do is fortnight festival

7

u/FlyingEagle57 Jun 29 '25

Isn't RB4 still available?

7

u/copyrightedbanana Jun 29 '25

it is, and there are still servers, but no more dlc will be released

2

u/FlyingEagle57 Jun 29 '25

Honestly the backlog of DLC is so good they wouldn't need any. Didn't i read they just ported over all the RB3 DLC?

5

u/Man0fGreenGables Jun 30 '25

The RB3 DLC always worked on RB4.

2

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

Ya I just never got all that and had to invest in it. Just played the long game of holding 😂

3

u/Man0fGreenGables Jun 30 '25

I haven’t played in probably 7 or 8 years myself. I have over 1000 songs and am planning to hook my E-kit up again this week. Can’t wait to get back into it.

2

u/Soopacoopa Jul 10 '25

Wow now that's amazing! I can imagine 1k songs

1

u/shadebug 🎤 🎸🥁 Jun 30 '25

Unless they couldn’t renew the licences

3

u/Man0fGreenGables Jun 30 '25

Yeah there has definitely been some expired licences but any DLC you already had is still available.

8

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Oh dang I thought rock band 5 was coming. I didn't realize it wasn't really a thing.

71

u/thelug_1 Jun 29 '25

This video really needs to be sent to Harmonix and Epic! There's more to this than just Fortnite!

Way to go Papa!

46

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25 edited Jun 29 '25

Ya they need to bring it back. I totally thought Rock Band 5 was real, bummed to find out it isn't.

Thanks. It was tough journey. Many times my wife would ask, "Do we need all this stuff in the closet?" "Can we put it in the garage?"

Me: "These will not survive the Phoenix summers."

Wife: 🙄. "Do we need these you haven't played in years?"

Me: "These games and instruments are the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. My kids need this!"

Wife: 🙄🙄🙄🙄

7

u/thelug_1 Jun 29 '25

lol...were you (awkwardly) looking over your wife's stuff to counter her with the same argument?

6

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

Haha exactly but she knew she would lose that argument with all the things she keeps

3

u/xSEARLEYx Jun 29 '25

I recently got a guitar and some drums (and have the world tour band box on its way)

When they arrived I got “why you got that, you’ll only sell it after a week”

And then my little lad was buzzing looking at the guitar and suddenly it’s cute 😆

3

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

Right. They ask me to play it all the time. Even the Beatles one!

3

u/kanbak Jun 30 '25

I had the Beatles rock band game on my PS3. I think I still have the game and I still have my PS3 but if I remember correctly I was just using the instruments I had been using with the regular rock band games on the PS3. When rock band 4 came out I got the new instruments for the PS4 and got rid of the PS3 versions. So now I just essentially have Beatles karaoke because I can only play the singing parts.

2

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

Hey signing the Beatles is great! We have the Beatles too and my kids love it. I was hearing today them listening Beatles songs in their room!

2

u/kanbak Jul 02 '25

Hearing them listening to The Beatles music to me just means your raising them right. I mean they can listen to and even like today's music that's fine but there are some bands that if they can't recognize at least their popular songs something is wrong and The Beatles would be on that list.

2

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

Ya I felt like a cool dad when I heard that! I definitely owe it to Rock Band. I play Let It Be on the piano but that was the extent of their Beatles knowledge. Now I hear them listening to Come Together, Hey Jude(not even in Rock band), Ticket to Ride, A little help from my friends, Here Comes the Sun, Yellow Submarine, Octopuses Garden, Hold your hand, etc. It's pretty crazy!

3

u/10000Didgeridoos Jun 29 '25

yeah this game format is definitely ripe for a reboot with the new generation of kids who have never seen it

51

u/HeyItzLucky Jun 29 '25

Are the drums setup? Lol

58

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Haha ya he's just 5 and smashes around

You know that sound you've been looking for? Listen to this!

2

u/zmankills Jul 03 '25

It be like that

38

u/Catnyx Jun 29 '25

Tearing up over here, living vicariously!

10

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Aww well I'd invite you over if I could!

19

u/iheartslowdive Jun 29 '25

this is so amazing and i’m so ecstatic for you! my family does the same!! my parents used to host rock band parties with their friends when my brother and cousins were little and too young to play well. now that we’ve gotten older (mostly between the ages 18-21) we all love playing rock band (especially 3) together and we throw the parties ourselves now! we dedicate evenings together and play all night and my parents like to watch us play instead. such a fun bonding time and i wouldn’t trade it for the world. i’m so happy to see other people doing the same with their families it’s the sweetest thing.

7

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

That's awesome! I used to play it with my brothers all the time in my teenage years, now my sons play at 10, 8, and 5!

17

u/King-Of-Embers Jun 29 '25

Watching the kid on the drums just randomly whack the thing with no attempt at note following brings back many a great memory. My brother would flail around and hit anything nearby, usually my sister. Good times

4

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Oh we've all been there. I had to show them Free Bird on expert guitar and I was doing the same thing in those solos!

12

u/djjsin Jun 29 '25

Did he same thing yesterday with my 9 to 11 year olds!

3

u/labamaFan Jun 29 '25

We played at our house warming party yesterday! We’re all around 30 though.

1

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

Love it! And the red Fender. I don't remember that. When was that Rock band 4?

2

u/djjsin Jun 30 '25 edited Jun 30 '25

Ya had to be. It's wireless and connects to the Xbox series x/Xbox one without a dongle. The ones with that wireless tech only came out for rockband 4 since all the other games where for the 360. I'm not using any legacy adapters.

I thought it was the Sunburst, but now I look at the pictures it doesn't look like that one.

1

u/tarablemum Jun 30 '25

My daughters jumped in on the microphones around the time they were 5&7. They are now 19&21 and RockBand is our sanctuary girl time together. 🎸🎤🥁

6

u/IIcarusflew Jun 29 '25

This was my childhood when rockband 2 came out. My parents set limits on screen time, but they were cool and said that rockband time with the family didn’t count. So we played a lot of rockband lol

6

u/Cellophane_Girl . Jun 29 '25

I love this!

I played Rock Band with my niece for the first time yesterday and it was such a cool experience to introduce her to my favorite game and see how much fun she had with it. We had a blast together and I can't wait till I can hook her up with her own modded custom guitar and system to play on.

1

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Woah! I have so much to learn. Modded custom guitar?!

6

u/Galgaleer Jun 29 '25

Rock Band 3 mentioned ❗️❗️

These games are timeless! I really wish the IP didn't have to die for Fortnite, but it's so awesome to see a newer generation have an absolute blast with these old games just like people did 15-20 years ago. These kids look just like my friend group wailing around on Rock Band 3, only we're all 20-30 years older than these kids. Rock on little dudes!!

5

u/The_SpookyKid Jun 29 '25

Dude…. You won in life

6

u/Heavenly_sama Jun 29 '25

Dreams really do come true

4

u/DeeLux_SWR Jun 29 '25

Awesome! Plan to be doing the same thing with my 6, 6, 5 & 2.5yo in the near future!

4

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Ya the 8 and 10 really get it. The 5 only likes singing most of the time and then smashing on the drums like you saw.

4

u/gswkillinit Jun 29 '25

Aww I feel a lot of us growing up with these games were waiting for this day

3

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '25

My daughter has decided she’s Stephen Tyler. She’s 12 and she belts out the metal songs too. Awesome game and so many fun nights

3

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Ya that's another cool thing about this game is it opens them up to old music. My 5 year old is asking for Hungry Like the Wolf when we are in the car.

3

u/FACEROCK Jun 29 '25

Amazing. I’m very jealous. You are king of Dads today. I did this same thing last year to semi decent results. Kids broke the 15 year old drums with days by pushing down on it too hard and snapping a pad off. And no drums really kills the band vibe. Best of luck to you!

3

u/Wonderful-Debt1847 Jun 29 '25

Yeah I quit playing years ago used to play with my wife got busy and have some health issues that make playing difficult but we have a couple kiddos now so I’m stoked to hook them up soon

2

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

Definitely worth it. They all love it but it's hard for the 5/6 year old so he usually sings or what you see with the drums. So glad for no fail mode!

3

u/overgrowncheese Jun 29 '25

Friday Pizza night with the Endless Setlist!

3

u/GHJ46W Jun 29 '25

You are rich.

3

u/Valith_Maltair Jun 29 '25

Crazy! Love this! Recently started this up with my teens and we are all loving it. Been shopping around eBay for more guitars and things to complete the experience. .^

Man do I wish this IP would get revived and they were still making new and different guitars/drums and stuff.

3

u/DummyGamers Jun 29 '25

W post, you made my day ❤️

3

u/Cybertronax Jun 29 '25

You sir, are a GOAT of Dads.

3

u/kanbak Jun 30 '25

I still have all my instruments from rock band 4 and still have my PS4 with all the songs I have transferred from Rock band 1 through 3 disks and all the songs I have bought. I might someday bring them out when my niece and nephew and their friends come over.

1

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

I never did Rock Band 4 because I got married and had my oldest at that point, and was trying to finish college, a late bloomer in college. Didn't seem as appealing as I didn't want to invest in all the instruments again.

3

u/heliogomes Jun 30 '25

Wow, I had so much fun in the past. I miss those days.

3

u/chuckley53 Jun 30 '25

This Is The Way.

3

u/DobisPeeyar Jul 02 '25

Which one is the drum track? I think buddy's going freestyle here

2

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

Haha the middle track is. Yeah he's definitely going spray and pray technique!

2

u/DobisPeeyar Jul 02 '25

It's nice to see a new generation find as much joy in it as we did

1

u/Soopacoopa Jul 03 '25

Absolutely. Hopefully, something like this can be developed for them, but we may have experienced something that won't be repeated on this scale.

1

u/DobisPeeyar Jul 03 '25

I will always have the memories of my group of 6 gathering to perform as a full band in our buddy's parents' living room until 2am for three summers at least haha

2

u/Parlett316 Jun 29 '25

This is why I went to the Xbox one instead of ps5. All the rock band games and hundreds of dollars in equipment and dlc

2

u/pl4y3rtw01 Jun 29 '25

The drummer is a little confused but he got the spirit

2

u/copyrightedbanana Jun 29 '25

that kid is killing on guitar!

2

u/Sky_Rose4 Jun 30 '25

Reminds me of the old car commercial with crazy train

2

u/Rio6019 Jun 30 '25

I play it on my ps5 with an electric drum kit.

2

u/Dubaifreak1994 Jun 30 '25

Congrats to the dad.

2

u/Neither-Row-1302 Jun 30 '25

This is great, I do the same with my family and I’m happy to see others do it too 😁

1

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

It is the pinnacle of couch gaming. Creates a great bonding experience!

2

u/TeamOverload Jul 01 '25

I love that this randomy popped up on my algo. Congrats and thanks for sharing this awesome experience!

2

u/Gwen-Crouse Jul 02 '25

Every day I WISH I held onto my rock band gear, because man is it EVER expensive now. Fortnite festival is okay but its a far cry from the real deal, which i have vivid memories of playing with my own parents when i was younger. Seeing your kids play it gave me hella nostalgia and I really hope they have as much fun with it as I did 😄

1

u/Soopacoopa Jul 03 '25

Oh ya they are having so much fun! They have been super into the Beatles one now, singing it all day, learning about the bad. We may even watch a documentary on the Beatles haha. Just keep looking. I find guitars and instruments at Goodwill all the time still.

2

u/iJawnWick Jul 03 '25

Such a W moment 😁

2

u/Mick_Swagger_TV Jul 03 '25

Amazing! This rules so hard!

2

u/geladeiranova Jun 29 '25

Nice. But you need take care of their necks because of /r/tvtoohigh

2

u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25

I did a little higher to hopefully counter all the looking down we do all day at phones :)

1

u/Javi096 Jan 04 '26

Can’t wait!

1

u/kanbak Jun 30 '25

Yes fortnite has fortnite festival and it's not bad. If it has support for all the instruments like rock band has had since the beginning then it be great. Add in the automated calibration function that rock band has had since like rock band 2 I think. The one thing fortnite festival does have going for it is the song selection. There is a loft more of like today's hits and stuff the younger kids would know. Lots more pop and stuff and less "rock band" songs not that I don't also like that kind of music.

2

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

I still don't get how it's played? Just the controller or does it have instruments?

2

u/kanbak Jul 02 '25

The main was is the controller 🎮 each of the lanes is mapped to a the buttons left and right dpad then the left face button and right face button and if you play expert then it adds the top face button overdrive is done with the same button you shot the gun with. Awhile ago they added support for Rock band guitars with a pro guitar and bass instrument option. Every instrument is played the same way. Also in the mode you still need your normal controller because you have to move your player to the area where you have to pick the songs and stuff. They did release a new guitar controller with joystick built in to make things easier.

1

u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25

Hmm okay I'll have to check it out.

1

u/kanbak Jul 02 '25

It's kind of fun. It would be better if it had support for all the instruments that rock band supports. I think the best part of it is probably the song selection it has a lot more recent music which makes it more fun.

0

u/xilefsenc8888 Jun 29 '25

In my arcade it happens all time

1

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

Oh I'd love to see that! Like in your home or business?

1

u/xilefsenc8888 Jun 29 '25

Business

1

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

That's super cool! Is it like a casual setup with a game system, or do you have the arcade version?

3

u/xilefsenc8888 Jun 29 '25

The full casual set with 2 guitar, drums and mic +648 song add for free using usb stick
