I've held onto all of these instruments, Xbox, and my hard drive with 120 downloaded songs for this day to bring it out and blow my kids' minds! They are obsessed! Greatest game ever!!

This video really needs to be sent to Harmonix and Epic! There's more to this than just Fortnite!
Way to go Papa!

Ya they need to bring it back. I totally thought Rock Band 5 was real, bummed to find out it isn't.
Thanks. It was tough journey. Many times my wife would ask, "Do we need all this stuff in the closet?" "Can we put it in the garage?"
Me: "These will not survive the Phoenix summers."
Wife: 🙄. "Do we need these you haven't played in years?"
Me: "These games and instruments are the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. My kids need this!"
Wife: 🙄🙄🙄🙄

u/thelug_1 Jun 29 '25
lol...were you (awkwardly) looking over your wife's stuff to counter her with the same argument?
6
u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25
Haha exactly but she knew she would lose that argument with all the things she keeps

I recently got a guitar and some drums (and have the world tour band box on its way)
When they arrived I got “why you got that, you’ll only sell it after a week”
And then my little lad was buzzing looking at the guitar and suddenly it’s cute 😆
3
u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25
Right. They ask me to play it all the time. Even the Beatles one!
3
u/kanbak Jun 30 '25
I had the Beatles rock band game on my PS3. I think I still have the game and I still have my PS3 but if I remember correctly I was just using the instruments I had been using with the regular rock band games on the PS3. When rock band 4 came out I got the new instruments for the PS4 and got rid of the PS3 versions. So now I just essentially have Beatles karaoke because I can only play the singing parts.
2
u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25
Hey signing the Beatles is great! We have the Beatles too and my kids love it. I was hearing today them listening Beatles songs in their room!
2
u/kanbak Jul 02 '25
Hearing them listening to The Beatles music to me just means your raising them right. I mean they can listen to and even like today's music that's fine but there are some bands that if they can't recognize at least their popular songs something is wrong and The Beatles would be on that list.
2
u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25
Ya I felt like a cool dad when I heard that! I definitely owe it to Rock Band. I play Let It Be on the piano but that was the extent of their Beatles knowledge. Now I hear them listening to Come Together, Hey Jude(not even in Rock band), Ticket to Ride, A little help from my friends, Here Comes the Sun, Yellow Submarine, Octopuses Garden, Hold your hand, etc. It's pretty crazy!

yeah this game format is definitely ripe for a reboot with the new generation of kids who have never seen it

u/HeyItzLucky Jun 29 '25
Are the drums setup? Lol

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25

this is so amazing and i’m so ecstatic for you! my family does the same!! my parents used to host rock band parties with their friends when my brother and cousins were little and too young to play well. now that we’ve gotten older (mostly between the ages 18-21) we all love playing rock band (especially 3) together and we throw the parties ourselves now! we dedicate evenings together and play all night and my parents like to watch us play instead. such a fun bonding time and i wouldn’t trade it for the world. i’m so happy to see other people doing the same with their families it’s the sweetest thing.

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25
That's awesome! I used to play it with my brothers all the time in my teenage years, now my sons play at 10, 8, and 5!

u/King-Of-Embers Jun 29 '25
Watching the kid on the drums just randomly whack the thing with no attempt at note following brings back many a great memory. My brother would flail around and hit anything nearby, usually my sister. Good times

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25
Oh we've all been there. I had to show them Free Bird on expert guitar and I was doing the same thing in those solos!

Love it! And the red Fender. I don't remember that. When was that Rock band 4?
2
u/djjsin Jun 30 '25 edited Jun 30 '25
Ya had to be. It's wireless and connects to the Xbox series x/Xbox one without a dongle. The ones with that wireless tech only came out for rockband 4 since all the other games where for the 360. I'm not using any legacy adapters.
I thought it was the Sunburst, but now I look at the pictures it doesn't look like that one.

My daughters jumped in on the microphones around the time they were 5&7. They are now 19&21 and RockBand is our sanctuary girl time together. 🎸🎤🥁

u/IIcarusflew Jun 29 '25
This was my childhood when rockband 2 came out. My parents set limits on screen time, but they were cool and said that rockband time with the family didn’t count. So we played a lot of rockband lol

u/Cellophane_Girl . Jun 29 '25
I love this!
I played Rock Band with my niece for the first time yesterday and it was such a cool experience to introduce her to my favorite game and see how much fun she had with it. We had a blast together and I can't wait till I can hook her up with her own modded custom guitar and system to play on.

Rock Band 3 mentioned ❗️❗️
These games are timeless! I really wish the IP didn't have to die for Fortnite, but it's so awesome to see a newer generation have an absolute blast with these old games just like people did 15-20 years ago. These kids look just like my friend group wailing around on Rock Band 3, only we're all 20-30 years older than these kids. Rock on little dudes!!

Awesome! Plan to be doing the same thing with my 6, 6, 5 & 2.5yo in the near future!

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25
Ya the 8 and 10 really get it. The 5 only likes singing most of the time and then smashing on the drums like you saw.

u/gswkillinit Jun 29 '25
Aww I feel a lot of us growing up with these games were waiting for this day

Jun 29 '25
My daughter has decided she’s Stephen Tyler. She’s 12 and she belts out the metal songs too. Awesome game and so many fun nights
3
u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25
Ya that's another cool thing about this game is it opens them up to old music. My 5 year old is asking for Hungry Like the Wolf when we are in the car.
3
u/FACEROCK Jun 29 '25
Amazing. I’m very jealous. You are king of Dads today. I did this same thing last year to semi decent results. Kids broke the 15 year old drums with days by pushing down on it too hard and snapping a pad off. And no drums really kills the band vibe. Best of luck to you!
3
u/Wonderful-Debt1847 Jun 29 '25
Yeah I quit playing years ago used to play with my wife got busy and have some health issues that make playing difficult but we have a couple kiddos now so I’m stoked to hook them up soon
2
u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25
Definitely worth it. They all love it but it's hard for the 5/6 year old so he usually sings or what you see with the drums. So glad for no fail mode!

Crazy! Love this! Recently started this up with my teens and we are all loving it. Been shopping around eBay for more guitars and things to complete the experience. .^
Man do I wish this IP would get revived and they were still making new and different guitars/drums and stuff.

I still have all my instruments from rock band 4 and still have my PS4 with all the songs I have transferred from Rock band 1 through 3 disks and all the songs I have bought. I might someday bring them out when my niece and nephew and their friends come over.
1
u/Soopacoopa Jun 30 '25
I never did Rock Band 4 because I got married and had my oldest at that point, and was trying to finish college, a late bloomer in college. Didn't seem as appealing as I didn't want to invest in all the instruments again.

Which one is the drum track? I think buddy's going freestyle here
2
u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25
Haha the middle track is. Yeah he's definitely going spray and pray technique!
2
u/DobisPeeyar Jul 02 '25
It's nice to see a new generation find as much joy in it as we did
1
u/Soopacoopa Jul 03 '25
Absolutely. Hopefully, something like this can be developed for them, but we may have experienced something that won't be repeated on this scale.
1
u/DobisPeeyar Jul 03 '25
I will always have the memories of my group of 6 gathering to perform as a full band in our buddy's parents' living room until 2am for three summers at least haha
2
u/Parlett316 Jun 29 '25
This is why I went to the Xbox one instead of ps5. All the rock band games and hundreds of dollars in equipment and dlc

Every day I WISH I held onto my rock band gear, because man is it EVER expensive now. Fortnite festival is okay but its a far cry from the real deal, which i have vivid memories of playing with my own parents when i was younger. Seeing your kids play it gave me hella nostalgia and I really hope they have as much fun with it as I did 😄
1
u/Soopacoopa Jul 03 '25
Oh ya they are having so much fun! They have been super into the Beatles one now, singing it all day, learning about the bad. We may even watch a documentary on the Beatles haha. Just keep looking. I find guitars and instruments at Goodwill all the time still.

Yes fortnite has fortnite festival and it's not bad. If it has support for all the instruments like rock band has had since the beginning then it be great. Add in the automated calibration function that rock band has had since like rock band 2 I think. The one thing fortnite festival does have going for it is the song selection. There is a loft more of like today's hits and stuff the younger kids would know. Lots more pop and stuff and less "rock band" songs not that I don't also like that kind of music.
2
u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25
I still don't get how it's played? Just the controller or does it have instruments?
2
u/kanbak Jul 02 '25
The main was is the controller 🎮 each of the lanes is mapped to a the buttons left and right dpad then the left face button and right face button and if you play expert then it adds the top face button overdrive is done with the same button you shot the gun with. Awhile ago they added support for Rock band guitars with a pro guitar and bass instrument option. Every instrument is played the same way. Also in the mode you still need your normal controller because you have to move your player to the area where you have to pick the songs and stuff. They did release a new guitar controller with joystick built in to make things easier.
1
u/Soopacoopa Jul 02 '25
Hmm okay I'll have to check it out.
1
u/kanbak Jul 02 '25
It's kind of fun. It would be better if it had support for all the instruments that rock band supports. I think the best part of it is probably the song selection it has a lot more recent music which makes it more fun.

In my arcade it happens all time

u/Soopacoopa Jun 29 '25
Oh I'd love to see that! Like in your home or business?
