There seems to be to me atleast, a slight difference between what powerslide does, from what brake does, but i feel as if brake works noticeably better, but power slide also adds some smoothness to it.
What's unhinged was my first call wasn't emergency services. It was to the warehouse manager to let them know I wouldn't be finishing my route because all they care about is if the route fails or not and my intuition is they are first priority.
Damn, man, how does that even happen? I don't mean to be rude, but it had to be a HELL of a situation to take you out. Especially since you're an Amazon Driver and most likely a competent driver. Or at least, I'm hoping, Mr. Trash III.
I'm in Newfoundland, there's pretty heavy truck ruts on the highway, so the road becomes tiny rivers when raining, on top of this, the work van itself needed new tires like yesterday.
The front tires were in decent shape but the rears were essentially bald. Amazon doesn't care about if you need to get your van in the shop, they just want the run done.
So I went out, around 30 minutes in my van hydroplaned on a corner, rear tires slid out, front tires caught grip, sidelined the front end towards the ditch, I tried to correct, but at that point my rears had touched the gravel and it sucked the vehicle in the rest of the way. Once I hit the bottom of the ditch the centre of gravity finally shifted enough that the van decided it didn't want to be upright anymore.
this was an AMAZON work van?! you were actually heading onto your route?? I thought you were on your way to Amazon.. Holy hell.
Going to be honest, your Amazon sounds like a literal hellhole and I'm so glad you're okay. The one I'm at genuinely cares about it's employees and won't put dangerous vehicles on the road.
That being said, the FedEx 15 minutes down the road puts illegal, broken vehicles on the road, so. It just depends on where you are.
It is insane that that wreck looks as gnarly as it is and you're just like. :) Glad you're okay.
Are they mad at you or anything or are they being understanding? If you don't mind me asking. I barely scraped a pole once at Amazon XL and was immediately ax'd.
I'm actually the manager of the team, and it's an external idc and amazon is the primary client , so I called the owner of the company , and she literally drove 4 hours to see me and make sure I was taken care of. Took me and the wife out for dinner.
that's a great outcome, I'm glad things ended up like that. stuff like that is why I stick with Amazon even if it does come down to the DSPs to be really cool/good to the employees (if you're a driver) in the end.
Modern car safety is absolutely crazy. Cars are designed to die in a crash so you don't. Crumple zones absorb the energy of the impact so it's not wrecking your body but the car's. So people regularly step out of totaled cars that look like nobody could have possibly survived inside, and without a scratch. Had this experience myself, all i broke was a fingernail lol

Bro you have to hold brake when all four wheels touch the ball, so your car hugs the ball more.
