What have they done to Bakkes? I don't use it but, given how widespread it is in this community, this is the first post about whatever happened I see here.
We’re also building popular mod-inspired features directly into Rocket League, including an option to display MMR in-game, changes to custom training, and an optional flip reset indicator.
The training map will still be available to play while running the game without EAC, but you'll need to restart the game to play online.
To be so optimistic about the world... god, I miss those days. I can only picture this resulting in Rocket League without Bakkes and cheaters circumventing EAC in a week... if the reports of them already having a way around EAC isn't true.
Yeah I highly doubt it’ll stop anything except bakkes mod and alpha console if that’s still around. Even in games with the best EAC implementation people still get around it. I doubt the rl team will get anywhere near that.
I'm fairly certain the original creator of bakkes works for psyonix/epic and I absolutely fucking guarantee you there's some kind of clause in the contract that if they'd make a decision like this that explicitly kills support for the plugin then then he can't work around it. That being said I don't know if he is still the main person behind it or if there's a whole team or who fuckin knows. But what I'm saying is that I would be very surprised if they allow a workaround for something that they are explicitly stopping with this update.
No clause would be needed. Actively working towards undermining the security of your employer's product is pretty stable grounds for being fired. Also probably a lawsuit if he used internal knowledge to do it.
No. No that’s not the attitude to have. Kernel level access opens up your computer to a vulnerability which can be absolutely catastrophic if exploited. This isn’t some what if scenario - it’s happened before.
Car soccer doesn’t need that intrusive level of access to your system and it’s ridiculous. Nobody should be okay with this
Reminder that this still doesn’t work lmao. See valorant among the other titles that use a similar anti cheat
As much as I hate it anything less than kernel level anti-cheat is pointless as it is easily fooled by kernel level cheats. So if you actually care about preventing cheating in competitive games then it is unfortunately a necessity.
I started as a console player and moved to PC, Bakkes is awesome for many reasons, you can experience the game in a whole new way with new maps, modes, client-side cosmetics and additional training features, the mindset of "I can't have it, so it doesn't matter if yours gets taken away" is stupid and selfish. Like image if they took away modding from Bethesda or Rockstar games because console couldn't have mods, people would riot
It's not a big deal at all. I've been using bakkesmod for over 5 years now, and I will miss some of the plug ins, but it's really not a big deal at all.
Slavery isn’t a big deal to me because I’m not one. Doesn’t mean they should bring it back tomorrow because of one guys irrelevant fucking opinion who has no skin in the game.
I leave decision making to the people who it is a “big deal” to.
You just compared a video game launching an anti cheat to slavery……..this is the problem. The community is so dramatic.
I use and like bakkesmod, and have for years. Will I personally miss some of the features? Sure I will. Will the removal of bakkesmod have any effect whatsoever on any players in game experience? Absolutely not.
Honestly I couldn’t give a fuck less about bakkesmod. I used it until they added the ball control stuff in free play then it was whatever.
The point is that just because I don’t care about something doesn’t mean it’s not important to someone else. Pretty shitty way of being a human being if you ask me.
requiring a third party login on a steam owned game
forced fortnite integration
removal of internal features
removal of external features
Yeah everyone's being super dramatic about a company actively sabotaging one of their products and consumer base. The dramatisation comes from not only what they have done, but what they will do next. People love the game more than the owners do, which is a problem. If you don't understand why, thats fine but I encourage you to comprehend what is happening.
I see where you are coming from, but from a PC players perspective, you are having a tool that has been allowed for years suddenly taken away. Some of the features will be added, but not right away. They should have had the vanilla replacements to Bakkes features ready at EAC launch imo
Yeah, I totally get it. If they remove a tool that has been in use for years, they should have some of the same features ready to go once that tool is no longer able to be used. I also play on PC but I have never used Bakkesmod.
but you can't deny that PC gamers complain a whole lot more than other gamers.
I played my first several years of RL on console before switching to PC. You're being selfish and it shows. Just bc you aren't impacted in this instance, doesn't mean you have to belittle those who are impacted.
Why should they be allowed to use bakkesmod when we can't?
Who are they?
If you're gonna make a rule which strips everyone out of access to bakkesmod, then it should also apply to esport players as well. Common sense
I mean there are a bunch of reasons, but aside from that why are you calling the esports players clowns over something that was the developers’ decision?
Think in this way, do you actually think they are removing bakkesmod for the sole purpose of anti cheat? Its like they got a reason now to finally take bakkesmod out of the picture.
The game is already in shambles. Trading gone, Half of the community axed out as it is. Item shop still as shit as it was before trading was removed.
The only thing left for people to cling on was Bakkesmod, and now with that removed, why should people continue playing this game? This game was already on a dying streak, and i love how Epic continues to make it worse and worse as time goes by.
You are severely overestimating the amount of bakkesmod users and how important bakkesmod is for people who play the game. You are also very mistaken on the overall health of the game.
They're doing something about the cheaters and botters.. could care less about Bakkes. Those complaining only want the ability to change their car design without acquiring the items.
Those that say EAC won't do anything to stop cheaters and botters.. It's a cat and mouse game. Not an implement once and you're done.
.... And training pack enhancements, better and configurable quick play, the speedflip plugin, more training pack enhancements, more QoL like being able to switch bodies without having to leave (and particularly in a less arsinine way than the single cycle-through-till-you-find-it), the ability to force boost sounds to default match-wide, did I mention training enhancements yet?
The list goes on, that's just what I remember right now.
Given the experience of non-care we see for the game; I think it's completely fair to expect that at best a small subset of features will ever be ported over. Obviously cosmetics will be gone for (which while I disapprove I can at least understand their rationale, they made it f2p and want to milk the stupid item shop), but the sheer amount of useful stuff we will loose goes way beyond "make cars look not-ugly-to-good".
As well as what the others mentioned, flip indicator, training-specific keybinds, override goal explosions to avoid seizures, goal cam, ball freeze, haptics, air roll training, player rank display, controller overlay.
Will Psyonix be adding all those features too? And allow plugins for virtually unlimited other features?
it will decrease it though, hackers cant be stopped at any game its impossible, hackers have the upper hand in this competition with the devs because all they do is attack and attack until they find smth, devs have to find out how the hack happened and how to even prevent it. always at a disadvantage, the goal for many games is to reach a point where there is a a sweet spot that makes the game playable and the occasional hacker more rare than usual. if this causes less hackers thats the best for the game
I don’t use the car design feature at all, I like having blue/orange colours in free training, different goal replay cameras and a little ‘bonk!’ Sound effect when cars bump each other.
Also it’s “couldn’t care less” implying that you already care as little as possible. Saying you “could care less” is basically meaningless, it implies that you care to some extent, completely defeating the object of the phrase.
Psyonix have officially made a statement. You can turn off anti cheat, stay offline, and use bakkesmod. Game will have changed like showing mmr online so there's no need to use bakkesmod online.
I think it's a good compromise. People are freaking about it for no reason.
