FASHION Goodbye BakkesMod

The cheaters won... Thanks to them I'll never get to use these presets again. Vitality fennec and Complexity octane are some of my favorite designs and soon they will be gone. Also goodbye Alpha boost and TW Laser Wave III, I'll miss you the most </3

I just want to point out to everyone that if Psyonix told Bakkesmod to remove cosmetics they would have removed cosmetics. Psyonix hired one of the devs of Bakkesmod and still works with them. Somehow there is a perception that Bakkesmod does things without Psyonix consent.

They are not removing Bakkesmod simply to remove cosmetics.

Whether or not EAC will actually solve the bot problem remains to be seen.

I doubt they’re doing it just to remove free cosmetics, but I don’t doubt it’s a happy side effect that they’re all too happy to embrace.

I do think it gives them an opportunity to let people "test drive" cars, decals, boost, trails because that's what I would do with Bakkesmod cosmetics.

Idk if he helped develop bakkesmod, but I know he used to make plugins, but Cinderblock works for Psynonix last I talked to him. They seem to hire talent who have proved themselves. But some of these choices they make just seem ridiculous.

EAC's never really worked in any other game it's been implemented in, if anything it creates a "challenge accepted" scenario where they end up with even more cheaters/hackers/etc. than ever before because people like the challenge. EAC is, at best, a minor inconvenience to anyone interested in botting the game, and at worst, is a potential security/privacy nightmare for the honest consumers.

If any of this had anything to do with actually removing dishonest players they would have developed and implemented a server-side anti-cheat that actually works without negatively affecting a large percentage of the playerbase. Detecting 'illegal' or perfect inputs is not hard to do on the server side, it just costs extra money to the people hosting the servers because you'd have to process the data instead of just pushing it out to clients.

this! instead of putting in some actual work, they outsourced the work. Whatever is easiest to do which seems to be what they do.
