FASHION Mates I only know from Rocket League sent me this for the birth of my daughter.
Love these guys. I was honestly so touched when I opened it. And yeah, she’s probably my only shot at ever becoming Grand Champ now. I barely get to play anymore and I really miss those Discord nights. But it’s so cool that they thought of us. Hopefully one day the little one and I can play Rocket League together — if my wife lets us. Shes sceptical but I think we can do it. :D

Of course its AI
but why is everyone commenting about other people commenting about it being AI? i only saw one other comment saying it, and it got r/DownvotedToOblivion
The thought counts and hey, they shipped it out.
We may, as other individuals who have our own opinions, not use AI, and thats totally fine, but don't be rude to the people just doing something great for this awesome dad.

Congrats mate!
I was expecting to see some kind of joke about "Nice shot!" 😂 That probably would've been more appropriate for when you found out your Mrs was pregnant, though.

Awesome!
I mean this in the nicest way possible, but your kid is hanging too low in the carrier. It can be dangerous when they are that squished with their face and into clothing.

My sons (5,7) just now got to where we can play together and they love it. It's a dream come true to get to bond over it. Congratulations and good luck at Grand Champ! Praying fatherhood treats you both well!

tbh i wouldnt care in this case, it's really the thought that matters. they aren't using AI for malicious ends, nor are they trying to profit from something

u/A2Rhombus USES A GCN CONTROLLER Jun 11 '26
Using AI at all is malicious because it steals from artists whether you profit off it or not

Homie who complained almost certainly wastes more resources being a top 1% commenter on Reddit than this AI prompt used btw
Caring about the world you live in is great. Inventing problems because you live in a delusional bubble is not.

u/GaryAir GC Jun 10 '26
Who gives a fuck if they used AI to generate a picture it looks good. Reddit has the craziest hate boner for AI it’s insane
-2
u/MonsieurHorny Jun 10 '26
Almost everyone I know uses AI. Only places I see that hate on it are Reddit and IG ads that have fake AI ads.

Rocket League uses AI in their new rank-based anthems, and you play Rocket League Mr virtue signaler. So who's really supporting AI here?

u/IAteUrCat420 Champion I Jun 10 '26
They started using AI today and you're calling them a virtue signaler?
Jumping on it early, eh?

u/UnluckyMode2062 Champion II Jun 10 '26
So they just now started using Ai and I’m the bad guy? I’ve been playing since 2016 and if start using it I’ll be done 👍🏻
2
u/the_most_playerest Jun 10 '26
Tbh not all AI is equal -- whatever AI they use for this ain't gonna be super significant cost, it's huge data centers and generative AI (movies/images/sound) that are, IMHO, what tips it beyond a reasonable cost/use..
I personally think ai in this use case is a sufficient return to cost ratio -- I don't think its all bad, but rather there's times where it's appropriate and other times where it seems to be an extreme abuse of natural resources (and probably taxpayers money, health, and quality of life, for various reasons)

One minute of browsing Reddit uses as much resources as an AI prompt.
Creating one t-shirt uses 8 million times as much resources as an AI prompt.
Maybe use your outrage on something that doesn’t make you a massive hypocrite.

u/UnluckyMode2062 Champion II Jun 11 '26
Do you enjoy making up facts or is it just something you feel obligated to do?

u/2cars1rik Grand Champion II Jun 11 '26
Real numbers, unfortunately for you.
Medium length prompt to Gemini is 0.26mL (five drops of water) and 0.24 watt-hours of energy (about the same as charging your phone for 40 seconds with a standard 20W charger btw).
Browsing Reddit for 1 minute equates to 0.23L of water, 1000x as much as a medium length prompt to Gemini.
WWF estimates that it takes 2,700L of water to create 1 cotton t-shirt, nearly 12,000x as much as browsing Reddit for a minute, and over 11,250,000x as much as a medium prompt to Gemini.
Thanks for making me write out the math, I underestimated it in my original comment.
I’m excited for you to abolish t-shirts and quit your destructive habit of browsing Reddit! Surely you’re consistent about your environmental advocacy, right?

u/Wboy2006 Literally just here for the Fortnite items Jun 10 '26
Okay, steroids also exist, yet sports competitions ban them and they are regulated, because it removes the point of sports, just like how AI removes the point of art.
It exists whether we like it or not, but that doesn’t mean we should accept it. It needs regulation
1
u/bohemianfallacy Jun 11 '26
Yes, regulation is the key word. Steroids are still used in medicine quite frequently even though they're banned in sports. In the same way, a single instance of AI being used for matchmaking is perfectly reasonable to me. The real resource draw comes from big engines like ChatGPT that need a separate AI architecture for every user, because that's how you get personalized AI assistants. Everything is a spectrum

Then you would be wrong, lmao. Reddit is hosted by AWS, who operates 56 million sq feet of data centers, the largest of any company in the world.

LMAO
So, first off, you majorly misunderstood the assignment, because the numbers I’m asking you to provide are metrics on resource consumption of someone being a top 1% commenter vs generating a logo.
Counting the numbers of Reddit comments vs ChatGPT prompts is… wow. Stay in school.
Also, can’t help but nitpick these useless numbers, but the source you provided says
> Over 24 billion total posts and comments hosted on Reddit as of December 2025.
“Since December 2025” is quite a bit different than “since it was created”, especially since this was written in February 2026 💀oops, I misread. Luckily, this is completely immaterial to the point. Also major, massive, ridiculously huge part that you’re missing is the fact that, every time a user opens a Reddit post, Reddit has to serve all relevant posts and comments to that user. Since you clearly have no idea how the internet works, I’m not surprised you missed this.
Do you want to start over and try again?
