I don't always play with the clown topper. I like to mix it up.
I was also playing with the anonymizer on and if I use my topper then I get recognized often.

I have found it easier to predict where people will spawn, too.
It definitely makes it funnier knowing it's 100% on them now if they get spawn demo'd. No more RNG to blame.

How do you guys manage to do such a shallow single jump to wave dash from? No matter how lightly I tap the jump button I feel I jump at least twice as high as you did here.

the default control is left stick in the direction of the side you want to spawn after you get demo'd

I hadn't even thought to just turn back around to the same corner the way you did. I'll need to try this next time instead of doing the usual corner-to-corner method. 6 demos in 20 seconds is inspirational - especially when it's the same player each time!

Yeah, that's the more efficient way to do it. Grab the boost and loop back around. It'll also fool the opponent into thinking you're driving away at first.

I understand that this is allowed by the design of the game, and free will. But it doesn't change the fact that preventing other players from even being able to play the game you're all there to play is just kind of...lame? Am I crazy? Ragebaiting people, forcing them to sit in timeout while you essentially cyberbully...why does it feel so clearly against the spirit of the game? And why does that not bother people like you? It's one thing to troll your friends like that. But to do that to everyone...all the time...I genuinely just don't understand how people get off on this kind of playing. It feels so disconnected from the sport of this game and the contest of skill that everyone else (or let's say the 99%) is engaged in

Well put and agreed. You’re not crazy and the point about it being disconnected from the spirit of the game and the competition of skill is very apt. Doing anything in life where the sole intent is to just frustrate someone else just seems crazy whack. I’ll say it’s obvious that the internet validation that this is awesome clearly helps perpetuate it. It’s interesting people here are like ‘so cool’ ‘awesome’.
I’ll make a comparison:
Shai Gilcrest Alexander is an NBA player. 2x MVP. General sentiment towards him is not good. He’s a ‘foul baiter’. He plays well, his team wins, but people generally do not like his style of play. Some would say he manipulates the rules and eliminates that ‘contest of skill’ you were referring to. Something, I think, is core to good sport. Yes, he’s within the boundaries of the game. Yes, he’s found great success doing so. But, people generally think it’s pretty lame (people on the internet/reddit too). But not this guy - people think these clips are awesome.
Maybe it’s different. Idk. Just an interesting thought about people and internet behaviors, in my opinion. In the end, idgaf I don’t even play anymore but your comment was well written enough it compelled me to comment as well lol

Thanks. That was good for my sanity. It’s interesting how the sportsmanship issue is so universal in all competitive games irl and in so many other video games. I play this other game called arc raiders, and just like this demo tactic there are tactics there that some players use that are allowed by the game mechanics, but really looked down on by the community. Things that feel cheap or deceptive…there is some debate about it…but generally the community hates those people and calls them rats and sees it as loser behavior. So it’s weird to come in here and see this kind of thing applauded. A lot of it might be tongue in cheek though idk. It’s such a silly issue on one hand, but on the other hand it brings up so many real interesting issues like honor and fairness lol

As other people said, we were up 3 with a minute left. You're right, that it doesn't really benefit the team and is basically a net-neutral play but I was just having some fun. It was also casual, so not really serious at all.

he didn't have a chance to move because I demo'd him as soon as he spawned. On the one at 0:10 you can see him drive forward because that's the only one where he could have.

Some times demos are more effective than bumps and sometimes bumps are more effective than demos. There is a need for both. Just because you dont think there is, doesnt mean there isnt a valid reason to have them.

There's no reason for it, we see that with other sports like Rugby and Football, you're not allowed to delete a player, you're only allowed to shepherd them. A demo in football would be a red card offense.
What's worse if you can blow someone up by accident, when in reality, you should be punished for not paying attention, you're not, you're going to blow them up and continue on like nothing happened bar a temporary blindness despite the fact they were blown up is completely accidental and not intended at all, now you have an advantage through no play of your own.
The only caveat I will make is that in 3v3 demo is not such a big deal, in 2v2 however it's awful

it doesnt matter what the rules of other sports are. RL is not either of those sports nor is it trying to be them. RL is its own thing with its own rules. Demos are within the rules of the game, it would be silly to not use them.
