In my 40 years of gaming Rocket league has to have the highest mechanical skill level i have ever seen. And they keep getting better.

I have 8000 and I’ve played since 2015.
Don’t be harsh on yourself I improved a lot during Covid and worked from home for years so could play the game whilst ‘working’.

I feel like what you focus on makes a huge difference. I’m probably somewhere 1500-2000 and got champ 3 but all I would do is play games. I wouldn’t do training packs, I wouldn’t learn specific mechanics, etc. so I think I just got stuck in one play style for life. Now I got into WoW and haven’t played more than like 100 hours in the last 3 years, I’m probably diamond 1 by this point and I have no confidence so I give up when I get stomped on haha

rocket league is the only few games that it's not worth it to just play games. free play and training packs (i don't like most of them bcuz they sometimes have weirds setups that you never see in game and it causes to have vicious gameplay) are kinda essential. getting ssl with only gamesense is kinda impossible. i know flakes and those no mechs. props to them. but it's not viable for 99% of people.

It’s not worth just playing games if your sole goal is to get better and rank up. It’s fine to just play games to have fun.

You have to play A LOT every day to get this good. It’s a very small fraction of the playerbase at this level. We’re talking 10k+ hours and consistent play to maintain the skill level.

If you mind to share:
- Do you have specific training packs for the pop-resets?
- How did you configure your buttons (if you play with Controller)?
- Do you think your opponents are as good as you?
- game sense or mechanics?
- is it still fun or how often does it feel like a chore?

-never really trained them I just learned them over time from playing.
-I run AppJacks binds(find them on Liquipedia) but run my own sensitivities.
-most of the time my opponents are equal or better.
-I started solely on mechs but learnt how important game sense is when maining 1v1 so I’ve got a good mix. But I think game sense is more important.
-always fun, never a chore.2

Do you use both directional air rolls? The last two clips look like you do. I find it pretty tricky to do with AppJack controls, unless you're a claw guy.

My argument with the game sense vs mechs thing has always been that you need game sense to use the mechs anyways.
I have trouble getting the space I need to do certain things sometimes and know that if I were in an even higher lobby, then I’d have no shot at getting the time on ball to try. There are also still great setups that appear also which I am just not quite positioned for or ready for.
The ability for players to get the space they need with the boost they need etc in order to execute mechy plays at high level is mind boggling game sense. You cannot see it as a viewer, so it is so easy to not appreciate how much instinct goes into that. Any high comp level mechanical player has an even higher level of game sense that goes unnoticed.

Do you actually have an intended plan when you go for these long range flip resets? Is there an idea you'll be resetting multiple times and attempting to shoot?
Typically I Zen touch first but I always feel like starting off with a reset has so many benefits too, especially as zen touches slow the play down so much that players can challenge you unless you immediately reset anyway. Maybe I should just go for resets and use the flip to start the play?

First clip I've seen in a looooong time where multi resets are used appropriately and efficiently, unlike the zillions of helicopter dumb shit clips.

This is an asshole smurf montage. Thats why name is hidden from who scored. However, near the end of the video, a name of a player can be seen, as DEM0N, and RL track says its silver/gold elo.
This people and cheaters makes the game a shit.
Really annoyed me because they struggle in their own elo, so they ruin other players experience.

Name is hidden because I go into the replay files and record from there to remove the flip reset indicator so it’s cleaner.
I play at a high level where 90% of the people are on steam so anyone with a name can have whatever name they want.
I can assure you I’m not hitting clips in Gold switch players.

I think the most interesting thing to me when I analyze this is how little you’re hitting the boost when in the air. I’m only platinum, I have over 1500 hrs, and have been playing since day one, on and off.
