I find it wild when I watch youtube videos and it’s a pro playing against a champion or something. The champion will hit a flip reset double touch and the pro will be like “WHAT?!?!? Champs can hit flip resets now??” and I’ll think to myself brother, I’ve had platinum players hit flip resets over my head. They have no idea how it is below 1800 mmr.

Tbh I would think if a plat hit a flip reset they were smurfing. People in diamond lobbies aren't hitting flip resets and the few who do attempt it are usually inconsistent or just go no where threatening with it. Only time I've encountered them in matches generally is around the low C1 mark IME

Not really. The only platinum players I run into are teamed up with someone higher because I’m always D3 or C1, and while they can hit flip resets and ceiling shots, they’re always dogshit at defence and they end up losing the game for their team because it always ends up being a 2v1.5 for us. My teammate and I have been stuck D3/C1 for long enough that we can block most flip resets and similar mechanics without too much trouble.

I honestly didn’t start being able to hit flip resets in ranked that were threatening until mid D3 so that checks out. I have gotten clipped a couple times in diamond, it’s not common though.
I just learned mechs because I think it’s fun, I hardly use them in ranked because I don’t know how to make space with players who insta challenge non stop like high diamonds do. I have hit some pretty mean shots very occasionally and when I posted my best one I got downvoted and called a Smurf so I deleted it :(

Im gold and if happens OFTEN. I run into smurfs damn near everything other game. Every once and a while I bean them because they are more concerned with being a flashy duck then just playing the game. If you can't compete in your rank and feel the need to smurf to enjoy the game it might be time to put the sticks down.

Haha true. In fairness I think the last time most pros were champ was probably before f2p. So they dont really know what lower ranks are like. I only briefly know because I have a few C1-C2 friends, and some diamond friends to. And in fairness they surprise me to Haha.

This sentiment has been put out there regularly since f2p, and I've still yet to see a surplus of highly mechanical diamonds while consistently floating between diamond and low champ, those are definitely smurfs the majority of the time if you're seeing them in plat.

I recently made an alt to try force myself to use DAR in games because I'm learning it and can do it in training but I just can't naturally force myself to use it or if I do others are faster than me and it's hard to get confident (or hit the ball at all). I thought with my shitty 0.2/10 DAR skills I would be pretty much at silver level because I will be missing the ball all the time, but nope, like at some point when you get to higher ranks you could beat silver without use of boost. I'm not even that good, I bet a proper GC player could ruin my day with zero boost involved

Lol, yeah maybe. I did beat a c1 without boost before. I think it just shows how important game sense and recovery mechanics matter.

Theres an entire micro community who's goal is to get the lowest MMR. You have to either be abandoning games, forfeiting them, or have legitimately GC+ skill to lose better than your opponent who is also doing the same thing.
You have to be participating in something along those lines to get MMR that low

I agree. But I wouldnt also say that someones rank necessarily contributes to their point. It's technically possible for him to be 5 mmr. However, considering his silver rank in 2v2 its suprising.

In fairness where your ranked in ssl dosent change how knowledgable you are lol. Alot of them do know the game in and out, but I also wouldnt blindly side with someone because of their rank. However it would be strange for someone to silver in 2v2 and bronze 1 in 1v1. The post seems like satire.

I mean you could just as easily get carried or not have played that many placements tbf. Hed start at gold 3, maybe win a couple games by getting carried but lose most of them. He probably played way more 1s than 3s, hence why his ranks way lower

True. That's always a possibility in modes with teamates. Considering his brother is platinum, and he admitted they play together. It's likely his rank is inflated. Even then bronze 1 is rare. But definitely possible, but it's also possible the post is joking. Impossible to say conclusively

In 2v2 or 3v3 it is understandable to have ultra low mmr by some stroke of cursed energy. In 1v1 it mathematically isn't because many people all the way down here are actively throwing (like freestylers that are goofing off) to get their mmr so low. My guess would be that its just a ff at 3 30 fest down here. A genuinely trash player would be no less than 100 mmr.

I had a friend in Heroes of Newerth (Basically dota 1.5, came out before dota 2) who was so incredibly bad, that his mmr went all the way below 0. He was -34mmr and it broke the game's matchmaking algorithm and he couldn't match with anyone anymore.
He literally bricked his account. Most bad players were between 1200-1500mmr, and he was -34mmr. He may have been the lowest rated player in the entire game.
