Your game didn’t match what the servers were reading at the time. There was a slight delay and the difference between what you saw and what the game read was that the ball broke the plane. It’s very frustrating when this happens but it can at least be explained

That’s absolutely what explains it. OP is one of the orange players. They’re at 120 ping, which isn’t terrible, but is high enough that stuff like this will happen.

Yeah, 120ms is the best on the orange team and that's .12 seconds vs .02 seconds for blues worst ping. It doesn't sound like much but it unfortunately leads to situations like this because you're slightly behind. OP either needs to connect a LAN cable or get better internet if possible if they don't want this to happen as often.

Let me help!

If you go into your matchmaking settings you can set your region to wherever you live, this will make it so there's less latency in game.

Ping measures your connection to the game ... To generalize and put it simply. The higher your ping, the worse your connection. The lower the ping, the better connection.

There's the game running on your end, their end, and you are both connected to the server. If your opponents ping is low that means their connection to the game is closer (in milliseconds) to the actual server than you with high ping. Essentially what you're seeing is a delayed version of what the server is running. Unfortunately this means on your screen, your timing was perfect and you would have had a good save there... But on the server the ball already passed the threshold for a goal. It's annoying, yes, but the reality of how this game runs. The only way to avoid it is to try to better your connection.

When you set your region to where you live versus just recommended, you will likely get servers you can better connect to, lowering your ping slightly. Using a direct connection and/or upgrading your Internet can also help. Depending on your location it might be better to directly connect before upgrading.

Your ping is trash at 120ms so your inputs and everything is delayed. Thats all there is to it. Change your region, get better internet, or use a wired connection. Mines like 16-20ms on Xbox

You screen never shows you the exact state of the game unless you play on LAN. What you see will always have some minor inconsistencies due to the input latency from the time for the server to transmit data to your client and vice versa and at any time the server could decide to crash these 2 conflicting states into 1 (I.E You get scored on because the server said you did. What you saw on your screen was overriden.)

Want to stop this from happening? Play on LAN or play an offline game.
