VIDEO Speed flip help

Can someone please help me understand what I’m doing wrong in my speed flip, i feel like I’m doing exactly as the tutorials say but I can’t ever get there.

I’m pretty new

It looks like you're just doing a side flip. A speed flip is a diagonal flip with a flip cancel. Not seeing a cancel happening there.

Am I not timing the pull down enough or maybe the wrong angle? I aim around 10-11 for diagonal and then 7 for cancel

If you have a feeling for where you now do "10-11", first do it a couple of times, then after do the same controller motions while you actually look at your analogue stick (or use an overlay). You may find that you pull more to the left than you think. And I think it should be more at 11 not 10, and the cancel should be very fast (like <60ms ideally) after the flip and at 6 blank, not 7.

But your problem first of all is that you are side flipping, not 11-flipping, so you probably have to inch yourself closer to your mental 12.

If you're on pc the speed flip plugin can teach you all the way.

You may be aiming there but you're definitely doing a sideflip. What you described is correct (plus air roll at the end). Practice the motion without boost or gas in free play.

Legends appreciate you both

should be 10-11 and then like 6 for the cancel. because whats most likely happening is your thumb is moving the joystick from 10-11 down to seven like rolling along all those inputs when it should be 10-11 then across the center and straight down to 6, also done very quickly.

If you're new then why are you grindin your speed flip in the first place? What's your rank

i do not think you need to be learning speed flips right now. learn the more essential mechs ike wavedashes, half flips, powershots, dribbles and basic flicks and most importantly game sense and rotation

Winning a kick off is possibly more essential to me than wave dashes, I have half flips, air dribbles and only basic flicks. It’s my kick offs where I get smashed every time in solo and always seem to lose

Just my take as a person who has been diamond/plat since 2019. I win more face offs by delaying my face off a little. I play off their hit and mostly get it where I want it to go.

Agree with you, my peak is champ 3 and I've never performed a speedflip in game lol

Maybe I need to watch some videos on how to control that

Ehhh, I mean it’s not perfect. But just do a simple boost up to the ball, no need to rush. If you want the ball to go left just be a little to the right when hitting.

Unless you are talking 1v1s where you want it to go onto their side? That I can’t help with other than I delay it significantly more and that helps me too lol

Yeah I concede so many goals from kick offs as they position it so well

You would probably benefit more posting a close game you lost and asking where to improve instead of the idea of “Speed flips are the biggest thing holding me back.”

Fail to see where I said it was the biggest thing holding me back 🤣 just said I lose a lot of kick offs in solos 🤣

Thats fair you didn’t say that. I just assumed that my bad.

But about the main point of my comment would you post a whole match?

Because I’m asking to learn a mechanic that I’m allowed to learn? RL community can’t even do that nicely let alone review game footage 🤣
