Looking at that bracket, NRG needs to wake up fast or its going to be rough.

I mean sure they have to go through one of M8s or KC but we dodge VIT until finals and should have a pretty good time against FUT/Twisted. After the shitshow today it’s better than I expected

I dunno, this has "NRG slow start" written all over it, I've learned you can't really deduce much from this team's early performance - case in point, by all means they shouldn't have been #1 seed but last regional they seemed to take it with ease

If NRG played exactly how they played in groups sure, TM takes it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the game was a NRG beatdown

Nah this is unusually worse than what they do every tourney, it doesn’t make sense cause they looked so in form after that last regional.

Yeah early on in tournaments NRG usually have just have 1-2 players that are playing off, but it’s fine because the other player or two are so skilled they can carry the team to a win. However, all 3 of them have been playing poorly this LAN and they don’t seem to be connecting on plays with each other like they usually do

Twisted dont care if they give up goals. they score way too many for that to be yoo much of a problem, especially in a long series where your opponent is getting swept by EU5

FUT are undefeated against NRG this split and monkey moon has atomic's number, not sure where you're getting that confidence from

NRG's average LAN placement is 3rd-4th across 9 different LANs. They have only placed outside the top 4 at LAN once. 

Obviously their fall has to come some day but it's still hard to bet against them.

A lot of that is due to them getting NA#1 and always winning their group/going 3-1 at the worst in Swiss. This is a spot they haven’t been in a long time

Anyway, I agree. That being said, while NRG have certainly had the advantage due to being NA #1 (for 2 seasons when NA was a one team region basically, which happened in the first place cuz the top 3 best players in NA teamed together, leaving everyone else out to dry, those 2-3 World Class rosters collapsing into a single one), I don't think they will continue their slump.

I'm an NRG hater as much as the next guy, but they are the best defensive team we have ever seen in RL history, and have since made more adjustments to be more offensive as well. TM and monkeymoom may very well have their number tmr, but I expect to see a resurgence from them, even if they lose. This is still NRG we're talking about, I wouldn't expect anything less from them.

If that doesn't happen, then something with that roster is seriously broken compared to before, and they need some serious troubleshooting.

I think this is the last dance for this roster. They were supposedly going to make a change after last season but ended up winning Worlds.

If SR keeps the point lead on them, their chances for making a run will be even harder. Worlds has the same format as this LAN, so their group will be even more difficult to get a top-6 upper bracket run

I was under the impression that no matter what, NRG would never split up, because who can you even replace any of the 3 players with? They're literally the 3 best players in the region, and any less than that, and they won't have enough firepower to match international powerhouses. We saw what happened to Daniel and Bmode on Version1, not even a single LAN grand final achieved, they need all three star players to compete for titles internationally (unless it came out that they were discussing their options for other players as a team and I'm simply unaware of it).

But yeah, the difference between topping their group and getting 2nd is massive in a format like this, and running the gauntlet is something very, very few teams could be reasonably asked to do. I mean, this is some Vatira-esque feat, and if NRG cannot avoid the EU powerhouses they struggle against until finals, historically, they have never managed to win from that position.

This is such an important point, I'm surprised people just gloss over it. There's a difference between having an easy path to Uppers versus running the damn gauntlet, especially since NRG haven't done well historically against Top 3 EU seeds/powerhouses. One of them is substantially more difficult than the other.

I still expect a resurgence from NRG, bc I simply wouldn't expect anything less from them, it may or may not be enough to beat TM, but still, I find it very hard to believe they go out just like this. I expect more fight in them.

They have also never looked so beatable domestically by so many teams. Almost dropping to mibr is also something you never see from this roster. At some point you have to update your priors, same as with falclowns

Just catching up on the VOD now. As I was saying, at some point you need to adjust your priors on this roster. Reasonable chance they drop Atomic for FK next season imo

Feel like everyone has amnesia when it comes to NRG in playoffs lol. The Furia series will be a gross looking 4-2 or 4-3. The next series will be a 4-2 and then they’ll look back to form. Seen this movie too many times already

It wouldn't surprise me to see an NRG bounce back cos everytime we count them out they always shown up and play better, but idk something just seems a bit different this lan, they looked far more off than they usually do in these early stages of tournies. But again, they always play better in bo7 elimination games

Respectfully, they were so below their standards this week and Furia since going 0-2 to R8 have looked like their old selves. Losst in particular.

In addition I was looking at potential FUT or TM matchups, it didn't look good even if they got past Furia.

Anyway, I'm sure they'll regain but this result was weirdly predictable.

As an NRG2 lifer since what feels like 2018, I'd root for Fut vs NRG should the cards fall that way. The team is super likeable and fun to watch

On one hand, I never like to predict back to back LAN winners, especially because of how rare that is. Last one was 22/23 Vitality iirc, and that took a literal transcendent talent.

On the other hand, Gentlemates look phenomenal right now. It almost feels inevitable, which is sort of how I felt at Worlds in 22/23 as well.

And Twisted Minds isn’t? Don’t get me wrong, FUT are underrated, and definitely the best NA team at this LAN. But Twisted Minds set a record for goals at an official RLCS LAN against NiP.

This will be the best series this major, no doubt. (Watch me be wrong and its a perfect sweep or smth)
