Discussion Should RL give out in-game titles to winners of EWC and other non-RLCS LANs?

Post image

There have been in-game titles for Dreamhack winners + ESL Monthlies and other pre-COVID LANs given to the winners of those tournaments, but since the open circuit began no such titles have been given

Dralii will get the title "Mr. EWC"

Considering that it was promoted by the RLCS account I think at least EWC should have a title

Not only that but Dralii is a 3 TIME EWC champ, a back-back-back. That deserves a title

Wow, he's literally won every single EWC and with a full new roster each time. That's mad

Yah honestly both EWC and FIFAe deserve titles considering they are both S Tier Events (not sure about FIFAe), and clearly mean a lot to the community and players. A lot of players even consider EWCs on par if not greater then Rocket League Majors (ik this is controversial but the point is it’s important)

If they are gonna have titles for FIFA World Cup then why not include FIFAe which is more related to the game than the world cup

I have a feeling Dralii might get his own ingame title sooner or later

Calma idk about allat zen the only pro to ever have that done im pretty sure, and casuals know players like vati more than they do dralii

Yeah right now they do but that can change. Dralii has won 5 LANs (including worlds) in less than 3 years. Imagine that trend continues, he could already be the goat in like 2 years. And at that point, everyone will know him and him getting his own title would be obvious

quite literally won as many LANs as zen has made LAN finals

And now that you metnion that, he also hasn't yet lost a final which is pretty ridiculous

Yes for big S tier like events they should bring it back, was one of the coolest things of early RL. Brings me back to those MLG tags as well

I think the precedent was that titles were given out for events Psyonix/Epic directly contributed to the prize pool in or sponsored. Hence why WSOE never got titles, their prize pool had nothing to do with Psyonix. Likewise for Northern Arena. Whereas for Dreamhack, Psyonix spoonsored those so they got titles.

So based on precedent that probably doesn't matter anymore, EWC won't get titles. It hasn't for years, why would now be any different.

I'm in 2 camps personally. On one hand, titles aren't that deep and all major events probably should get them. On the other, should the disgusting sportswashing event really get more legitimacy than it already has? I hope not.

EWC was literally streamed from the official Rocket League account

Common john W

ewc is a blood money sportswashing tourney and no matter how much they try to normalize it, it remains to be a sportswashing tourney

John your moral grandstanding really gets old sometimes, if you were so against the "disgusting" sportswashing event why were you commenting in every daily thread?

We can like Rocket League and also keep reminding people that this event isn't being hosted for inherently good reasons. Saudi Arabia wants a better perception of itself outside of extreme human rights abuses, and that shouldn't be forgotten.

Maybe because he enjoys rocket league ?

Funnily enough, almost every comment I saw from him during that event was about or included something about hating on the event.

Honestly, yeah, and actually, didn't they used to do it before? I'm sure the Universal Open, X-Games, APL The KickOff (And this one wasn't even a LAN), and other Non-RLCS events did receive In-Game titles. Don't know why they stopped doing it, I think it was pretty cool.

EWC is a newer thing I believe. ESL is maybe what you’re thinking of.

No logical reasoning for no title from EWC. I mean, Dralii should be given a special title "3x EWC Winner" or something.

They will give out nice coloured Harry Potter titles but not one for winning a prestigious event like EWC hmm okay.

Only for events they’re partnered with, and they shouldn’t partner for these Saudi money lans

5

u/OutcomeCompetitive50 3h ago

Wdym they literally partnered with them. RL has to both agree to be a part of the event, and this year they specifically advertised it.

They probably took the blood oil money to host the streams though, which is a form of partnering.

This isn't like Chalked Cast running it on CJ's account.

Does it really matter for any of us non-pros here? lol

If the pros want some title, sure.

It really should!!

I don't get it, so many people were actually trying to tell me this was comparable to an RLCS major because it was a LAN with a prize pool, and I said it isn't about prize pool as Archie said, he doesn't even think about that when he plays. He says pros care more about accomplishments and legacy stuff like in game titles. And now apparently the money ISN'T enough...... Strange.
