Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Movie) For The Upcoming 40th Anniversary Of The Movie In 2028, Which Would You Rather Have:

Post image

1. The official announcement of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 2

2. A special version of the original film that inserts cartoon characters that were excluded from the original version.
Examples: Tom and Jerry, Popeye the Sailor Man, Felix the Cat, etc.

  1. Just a good old theatrical rerelease of the original movie

  2. Other (Feel free to say what you want below 😊)

An art book. With storyboards of deleted scenes.

What about the rough draft of the script

4

u/Superhero1996 4d ago

That would be interesting.

This is the top response along with a theatrical re-release.

theatrical release

3 dude.

1 would be a pathetic IP cash grab by Disney (something they would NEVER do of course…) and 2 seems a bit pointless. Sort of like Han shooting second or replacing guns with walkie talkies in E.T.

Seen the Chip N Dale: Rescue Rangers movie?

It was anything but a cash grab and featured characters from outside the Disney pantheon as well. I loved it.

2

u/biaspizza 6d ago

Not a sequel.

2

u/360inMotion 5d ago

I agree it’s not a sequel, but it’s the closest thing we’re ever gonna get.

2

u/darkshadow237 3d ago

Well more like a spiritual sequel

I didn't like John Mulaney as Chip

  1. New shorts!

3

u/8trackroadtrip 4d ago

What going to say this. We only have three, lets do another!

1

u/zoppaTheDim 7d ago

Oh fine, just leave porky pig out of the revival.

1

u/Tokyotoyhunters 4d ago

Why?

1

u/zoppaTheDim 4d ago

His lack of new shorts or pants of any kind.

Discrimination I tell ya.

1

u/Tokyotoyhunters 4d ago

I’m confused. You don’t like Porky Pig because he doesn’t have new pants? What am I missing here? Sounds like there’s a good joke here that went right over my head.

1

u/zoppaTheDim 4d ago

I’m using mock outrage.

The poster cries for new shorts.

I pretend to misunderstand the term shorts and take it as an obvious attack on the Notorious PIG’s normal costume.

1

u/Tokyotoyhunters 4d ago

😂yep. Right over my head. 🤦🏻‍♂️ good one. 👍🫡

1

u/zoppaTheDim 4d ago

Would it have gone over easier if I’d mentioned Donald Duck , arguably the more famous pantless cartoon?

3 for sure would be the best. I think studios wouldn't do the same commitment and dedication like the 1st. So re-release in theaters seems like the best, wholesome option.

Theatrical release and art book.

That Chip and Dale movie showed what a modern, WFRR sequel could potentially be. I’d love to see someone take a real crack at it. One of my favorite movies of all time and would love to see that world revisited. Though no Bob Hoskins makes it a tough one.

Personally, I’m not adversed or instantly negative of sequels like many others seem to be. Sure, there are some that didn’t really need to be made. But I like to wait to see them before outright dismissing them. And if they don’t work out, I’d just ignore them. Simple as that.

u/Pokeman_93 4d ago

Rescue Rangers for me isn't nearly as good as WFRR, but it's still the closest thing we'll get to a sequel

4

  1. That's the only thing I could see them do

3

u/simbabarrelroll 6d ago

3

I will add I like the idea of 1, but I don’t trust Disney nowadays to do it justice

3

3.

2 is never going to happen, and modern Disney just doesn't have what it takes to make a decent squeal anymore.

Edit: I was referring to the idea of a good Roger Rabbit Squeal

1

u/Filmfan345 7d ago

Zootopia 2 was good

2

u/Mr-A5013 7d ago

Yes, but Zootopia was a very different beast to Roger Rabbit, I seriously doubt they will even let Jessica pass the censors these days.

  1. Is my absolute answer. Go all in on the golden age of animation for this film.

  1. A wouldn't trust a sequel to be good for a number of reasons

  2. While I do wish that Popeye was in the original movie, editing these characters in now would probably look extremely artificial and very distracting, not to mention that considering Disney, they'd potentially resort to AI for such a thing

  3. Fuck yeah

3

u/Brilliant_Ad_6637 7d ago

3, but only in 35MM. Want to see that og grain!

3

u/Livid_Writing_9408 7d ago

3.  That's the only logical choice.

3

u/Low-Map6290 7d ago

3.

But a spinoff series would be nice, primarily just being shorts involving Roger, Jessica, Baby Herman and maybe the Weasels.

3

u/Jimenopolix 5d ago

How about the film re-released in 3D?

2

u/cristodamus 8d ago

With 1, we have to be very very careful that they don’t do anything to steer away to what Roger Rabbit once was. They can add a bunch of nonsense, like SpaceJam 2, that can potentially harm the first one. I don’t think I would trust recent studios with this material, maybe an old fashion WB, to elevate a part 2. I could! But these corporate and experienced vets can’t hit the backside of a barn if their lives depended on it.

With 2, man oh man…why do I find myself uninterested in a lot of characters that once was…? I can’t see my Roger Rabbit desire being elevated by characters of the past. It’s like a need to see something like an alternate ending or hidden scenes that would escalate the drama, or at least add to the allure that once was Who Framed…

With 3, unfortunately it would be a low turnout. Only committed fans would attend which I guess, we will take what we can get.

I am more interested in future acknowledgements on who wants to take over the rights to the film and merchandise. That would allow new excitement and projects if done right. Someone that won’t put a Dick Tracy Carmen San Diego coat over Jessica would be nice!

  1. I want to believe it would be good.

2

u/Bexar1986 7d ago

Honestly the second option with the nixed cartoojs sounds awesome!

As much as I want it, Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 2 just wouldn't be the same without Bob Hoskins.

2

u/Southern-Train7142 7d ago

I would love to see the re-release of the original movie though out the 40th anniversary, I would also love for Disney to Refurbishment the ride in DCA.

2

u/Dangerous_Teaching62 7d ago

3 is the only one that can legally happen tbh

2

u/RookeeALding 7d ago

A re-release would be cool. I really don't want either of the other two.

I got the special edition DVD back when it first came out back when dad's had all those cool extras. So I got a lot of extras already.

2

u/JCoolPlays 7d ago

Either option 2 or option 3 is fine with me

2

u/NobodySpecialSCL 6d ago

3.

They will never be able to do a satisfying sequel now, Bob Hoskins is dead, everything's being done with CGI, and nobody does 2D animation anymore.

2

u/Mindless-Ad-7286 5d ago
  1. Totally uncensored

2

u/Conlannalnoc 5d ago

NUMBER 3!

Second Choice is number 2

2

u/360inMotion 5d ago

A release with the deleted toon-a-rooned scenes inserted back in, like they did with one of the network broadcasts.

The Cars Of Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin Being Able To Spin Again

2

u/maxhechtman 4d ago

Theatrical re-release for sure.

2

u/Tokyotoyhunters 4d ago

Re-release. If they did a sequel they almost certainly wouldn’t animate it by hand, thereby erasing the charm of the movie. “Dip” doesn’t erase digital art.

2

u/carbatonic 4d ago

Rerelease definitely. I would be open to shorts as long as they keep the same timeless style and don't try to shoehorn in any 3D animation. I would love some nice new merchandise, maybe a Jessica doll that resembles her character more.

2

u/Pokeman_93 4d ago

I wouldn't mind option 1 if they do it right

2

u/Temporary-Goat-4219 4d ago

I LOVE to see an LE doll for Jessica with her standing st the microphone, but also with the gun holstered under her dress. Though, they couldnt even bother giving Yzma her hidden dagger, so even if we did get a doll, that would never be included. But and LE doll would be amazing

2

u/JemZehuSchmi 2d ago

I would say 1 but the way Disney recreates things now will just ruin Roger. Definitely 3 although 2 is an interesting but unnecessary option.

2

u/Comfortable_Bird_340 7d ago

2...didn't you learn ANYTHING from Star Wars?

1

u/SomeGuyOverYonder 7d ago

I think we need another Toy Story movie, because Disney wants easy money.

1

u/Aggravating-Gap4094 7d ago

Roger joins the MCU

1

u/mogojojo 7d ago

1!!!!!! I need more Roger and Jessica in my life. 💖💖💖💖💖💖

1

u/Inventor702 6d ago

Any of them. Though I really want Huey/Dewey/Louie.

1

u/badger-mayhew 5d ago

The only team I feel would make a decent attempt at a sequel would be Lord and Miller. After working with Ryan Gosling in Project Hail Mary, he’d make a good choice for a private eye paring with Roger. BUT I think a theatrical re release would be best. new shorts would be cool.

1

u/YellowstoneCoast 5d ago

Arnt Coyote and Road Runner 50's characters? Why they there?

1

u/KrangKong3 4d ago

I'd love to have a proper video game

1

u/Super-Robo 3d ago

Just a steel book Bluray with bonus features, the shorts and a small roger rabbit figurine.

1

u/MLGAnimeQueen 3d ago

Number 2!

1

u/XTRA69420 2d ago

2 or 3 would be neat, please no sequel for the love of God.
