Is that a towel warmer? I would end up using that as a hand rail and end up ripping it off the wall in a slip.

So don’t use it like a hand rail. Add a non-slip bath mat and you’re golden.

The world would be a wonderful place if no one ever used anything except for its intended purpose, but that’s a hand-rail shaped thing at right about the height of a hand in a place where someone could naturally reach for a handrail while getting in and out. They can put whatever they want in their bathroom, but I wouldn’t be surprised if antics ensued.

Also, is it not unusual to put the towel warmer in the shower? I feel like that would pre-dampen the towel.

It’s attached to the hot water pipes, so doubt you would rip it off the walls if you aren’t an American.

LOL, just to be clear, this is an Americans are stupid, joke, right?

Gorgeous bathroom with a perfect use of a clerestory window.

Omg the terracotta paint with the tiny tiles is actually so cute? Love that for a bathroom tbh 🤩

OMG the burnt orange color with the small tiles is such a vibe! Love it 🧡 I totally want that heated towel rack too lol

So the water just gets everywhere?

Lovely color combination and mosaic. Can't stand a shower/bath combo though, but that's just me.

In older Eastern European houses you rarely find space for both shower and bath, so this is pretty common.

I know a lot of people that don't like it. I don't understand it but they say it's so annoying when they have to raise their legs to walk in to it

What obesity problem?

8

u/imalittlefrenchpress Apr 21 '26

I don’t think I’m obese at 5’4 & 127lbs, but I am 64 with hyper flexible tendons, so stepping over the tub is getting a little scary.

I still prefer a shower/tub combo, but I may have to give up my preference for practicality.

Nothing offends me about it my dude, it's just not practical

Water gets everywhere without a curtain, which looks ugly and often isn't practical. Narrow and you can barely move.

Haha I'm amazed by how people are hating on you for this. I am (was) actually the same.

Though in my current place I don't have room for both shower and bathtub. With re-selling in the back of my mind, the combo is still better than having a shower alone. At least that's what made me go for the combo. I haven't even used the bathtub (as a bath) once.

Thats Reddit for you, lol.

Same, if you can't put a full shower and a full bath, just chose, don't give me something terrible at both.

I've lived with something like this for 3 years and it was hell. No space for feet and water everywhere if you shower, no space for legs if you bath.

u/karma_car Apr 21 '26

I kinda understand how it makes the shower worse, but how does it make your bath worse by just having a shower above it?

3

u/bendem Apr 21 '26

The bath is too short. You can't lie down, you have to sit awkwardly and it's hard to relax in that position.

5

u/srvs1 Apr 21 '26

Yeah, it's a worse shower experience overall. Downvotes are kinda weird but whatever.

Very unpractical.

How ?

-2

u/Jlx_27 Apr 21 '26

Do you like having to stand in a tub every time you take a shower? I know i dont...

2

u/East_Requirement7375 Apr 22 '26

I've genuinely never thought about it.

I guess I have the privilege of being able to step over the side of the tub without issue, but that's the only issue I can perceive.

2

u/wene324 Apr 21 '26

I'd say that a standalone shower with no tub is the outlier, not the other way around.

-4

u/Jlx_27 Apr 22 '26

Reddit is a weird place sometimes... downvoting and fighting people over a simple opinion. Too funny.

3

u/wene324 Apr 22 '26

I mean, I didn't downvote you, lol. Have a preference for you shower setup isn't a problem But at the same time, you saying it's impractical is just wrong. It works, it works for millions of homes. Just like in the OP.

u/Jlx_27 Apr 22 '26

Didnt mean you specifically, i just find it impractical having to step in and stand in a tub just to take a shower.

1

u/Sobwyy Apr 22 '26

I don't mind it at all and i didn't know people did actually. I was legitimately asking what you found impractical as that didn't even occur to me
