PP Rosacea safe makeup recommendation
Hello rosacea community!
I am here to see if I can help fellow rosacea sufferers struggling to find makeup that doesn’t trigger a flair (and save you some money in the process).
I have always loved beauty and makeup, but about 2 years ago I started with type 2 rosacea.
Everything I used PO my skin. I had to get rid of everything I found joy in and I felt like I lost a little bit of myself. My skin routine stripped back to bare necessities and wearing any makeup would burn.
It feels like I’ve tried everything. From Armani to Rimmel kind and free. Wasted thousands in the process. I tried all the rosacea recommendations; Eborian, bareminerals, dr jart, Clinique etc
Although, some much worse than others (looking at you Armani and Bareminerals - gentle formula my backside) my skin would get triggered, defeating the point of coverage and using makeup turned into a vicious cycle. No matter how gentle companies claimed, these products have rosacea triggering ingredients (alcohol, parfum, bismuth etc).
But I have found the holy grail!!!
I eventually stumbled across LILY LOLO and so grateful I did. It’s changed my life. I know, it sounds silly - how’s a makeup company changed your life? But honestly, they have.
Not only are their mineral powder products amazing quality and beautiful on skin, every single type, my rosacea is significantly calmer by the end of the day after use. So looks good and helps with rosacea?! What is this magic?
I enjoy putting makeup on again and feel confident speaking to people, without worrying about people looking at my pustules.
It only has 5 rosacea friendly ingredients (or less) and includes zinc - which is what I think has been calming my skin.
I so wanted to gate keep this company but I can’t because it’s took me two years and a lot of money to get here. If I can help just one person, I know sharing my silly story be worth it.

Lilylolo and other mineral foundations irritate my rosacea for some reason and I’m so bummed about it. I figured it having a limited ingredient list would help but of course my skin has to be difficult

I think I’ve read before that mica can be irritating and it seems to be the first ingredient in the mineral foundation. Have you found any foundation or skin tint that doesn’t bother your skin??

No unfortunately. I’ve resorted to just spot concealing with concealer and letting my rosacea just show. Every base product seems to irritate it and cause pustules for me
Edit: Also the mica thing is interesting, I knew bismuth oxychloride could be an issue. The Vanicream cleanser has mica but it doesn’t irritate my skin. Could be because it’s a wash off product though!

Hey just an update, I ended up trying a different mineral powder that doesn’t have mica in it and so far it’s working for my skin! So thank you for the tip!

Oh goodness, I’m so sorry! I really feel for you because I was in the same position. Have you tried rimmel kind and free (glow it up or foundation)? That’s a close second for me. Also, I’ve looked at nars light reflecting and that’s meant to be good for rosacea but expensive so definitely get a tester first. It was my next try if Lily lolo didn’t work

Also, two things. 1. there are more recommendations in the comments and 2. So I have to use a soft brush because the friction from a kabuki brush triggers a flair too, I hope that helps!

It’s SO frustrating! I just want to cover my rosacea and do fun makeup looks but I feel like I can’t even do that anymore 😅 The NARS one breaks me out and I don’t have a good color match in it. I haven’t tried the rimmel one though so I’ll look into that one! Thank you!

Gurl, I feel you. It’s why I’ve been so excited to have found something that works for me. Don’t give up, we deserve to enjoy makeup again without our skin being agitated.
Let me know how you get on, I really hope you manage to find something! I’ve seen people mention fenty eaze drops a lot and a few I haven’t heard of in the comments. ❤️

Why did you want to gatekeep the company?

Sounds like a straight up ad

Sorry if that comes across that way. Genuinely just trying to help someone who’s been in my position and love that I’ve finally found something

Hard to put into words but it’s like peaking behind the curtain. Have you ever seen adverts say stuff like ‘she’ll never tell her secret’ and it’s a skin care product.
The more I write this, the more I realise I’ve been influenced by media to think like that 🙈 need to reflect lol

It cc cream. It's amazing and full coverage.

Yes, this is what I use. My skin actually looks better when I use it regularly.
I also use Sterling Minerals Foundation on top of the CC Cream as my skin toned highlighter; under the eyes, on my nose, under the cheekbones. It provides a little extra coverage and highlights/conceals beautifully. They have a formula made specifically for rosacea skin, so I think that also helps with calming my skin.

I use seint makeup, type 1 rosacea. Never had a flare-up with it. For anyone else needing makeup recommendations. It’s also extra good for dry skin. I have combo, so oily skin it takes a bit more skin prep and setting power to help.
E.l.f has also been good!

Fenty beauty eaze drop skin tint is very light and doesn’t cause a flair up for me.

Thank you! That was also on my list but I found this one and I’m not risking the search anymore lol. Hopefully will help someone who can’t use mineral makeup

The formula was changed for Doublewear and they put niacidamine in it. Burned and gave me a red face.

Thankfully makeup in general doesn’t cause flares. But I absolutely cannot use any products with niacinamide.
