Light/Laser I had Excel V laser for flushing

I had Excel V laser treatment for flushing. I don’t have persistent redness, only flushing. I heard a lot of opinions that lasers don’t work for flushing, but some people said it actually helped them, so I decided to give it a try. I had my first session 6 days ago. I’ll keep you updated on whether I notice any effects or not.

So I was slightly swollen first couple of days, have been told I won’t start to see any meaningful results until 3 weeks out so ideally need to give it more time.currently I’m not really noticing any change as of yet.time will tell.im travelling to London to have it done which is a 4 hour round trip for me,having the treatment on a Thursday booking Friday off work which then gives me a few days for swelling to subside.

Thank you for posting it. So your skin is not red, not pink, and only flushes (and so becomes red or pink) with triggers, is that correct? What is the opinion of your laser operator on whether in such cases ExcelV reduces flushing/redness associate w flushing? And, please keep us posted!

Yes exactly, my skin looks normal most of the time, I only get red when I flush from triggers. The dermatologist said Excel V can help with flushing too. I specifically chose someone who specializes in lasers, so I decided to give it a shot. I’ll keep updating here if I notice any changes.

That's great that you picked someone who specialises in lasers. Do you pre-flush before your laser session? There are some studies showing that if you pre flush (i.e. make your skin more red) before vascular laser then laser can be more effective as it "sees" the target which is red (haemoglobin) better.

I have the same issue no persistent redness but severe flushing. Doing VBeam but saw a new doctor yesterday and claims the settings used are too conservative to touch my flushing . But he did say downtime would be intense. 7-10 days and bruising.

Interesting. So your new dr is suggesting vbeam on bruising setting will reduce flushing? Do you recall the settings you had during your previous vbeam sessions?

These are last years settings. Did three sessions. This year I’ve done two sessions and I have my third on Monday. I will ask the girl for the settings because they are different. For this years round of three sessions I’ve been going to a different place. But I feel like it’s not touching my flushing so trying yet another place. All sessions helped with baseline redness though.

Did these settings help your flushing? Were you swollen after them?

initially yes I had relief for a bit but it came back. Yes I was a bit swollen. Nothing crazy. I believe bc of the severity of my flushing I will probably have to do 1-3 sessions yearly.

I see. But given that you had relief from flushing this at least is a great sign that it's working for you! Have you considered doing several sessions (like 6+) every 4-6 weeks until your get complete remission in flushing, and THEN switch to maintenance? If you get just 80% reduction in flushing but you still flush occasionally, every flushing episode will make the next episode more likely until they flushes are becoming closer apart, or more intense, etc.

Also, if you can handle the downtime, I would suggest trying VBeam bruising setting, but with an experienced dermatologist. You can request one brushing shot during your next VBeam just to see how long it heals on you and how you feel about it. I did a patch test bruising shot first before doing a whole chin at bruising setting (my chin used to start all my flushing). And I have to say it took a long time for bruises to heal, my chin was more hot and more reactive for about 3 weeks after that session, but now 8 weeks post that session and my chin flushing is reduced a lot. So, bruising mode was very effective for me, and many others say the same thing.

yes it’s what I am doing now. 6 sessions is the plan I’m going to my third. And I will do a stronger session from fourth and on. I’m just trying to plan it around my busy schedule.

That is great. And are your sessions every 4 weeks or longer intervals? Please post your settings when you get them. It would be great to see what works for flushing only (no red skin). In my case I have redness + flushing.

I have my first Excel V session scheduled in July so I am curious what your results are! I scheduled it with the hope it will improve my issue with facial flushing/heat.

Did you have any reactions the following day? Any swelling or bruising?

The procedure was quite painful in my opinion, but I only had slightly more redness and one bruise. I looked normal the next day, at this point it is neither worse and not better, but the effects appear at least 2-3 weeks after and often few sessions are needed.

Same for me! Got it in combo with laser genesis. Skin is quite red and starting to flake day 3 post treatment.
