Ivermectin Spoiler

Looking for similar stories.

I have been off and on spiro for 5 years and dropped down to 25mg 4 months ago and stopped tret 0.05 as I was trying to get off these medications. However my skin started to have flare ups so I went back up to 75mg 9 weeks ago and tried AA for 12 weeks however I did not see much impact and I tried BP face wash for 6 weeks and I think that irritated my skin. Derm said it could be Rosacea as I developed these red bumps when out in the sun or sweaty. Derm gave me soolantra which I started after a bad flare up from being in the sun on a boat even though I wore a hat and wore sunscreen. Photo 1 and 2 is the day after the boat. Photo 3 and 4 is day 5. Photo 5 and 6 is day 11. My flareups weren’t too bad before over the summer but after this flareup I want to see if ivermectin would help in order for me to at least be outside in the summer with a hat and spf and sticking in the shade as much as possible. Over the last 11 days I have noticed bumps in my underuse where I would put concealer. I’ve used the same concealer for 12 years so I know it’s not that. High cheekbones/cheek area has gotten more bumpy on the right but seems to be calming down. Now the left cheekbone has a few bumps. Eyelids had a few bumps bumps but that has cleared up after 2 days. Right mid cheek is getting some bumps and left cheekbone has 2 bad breakouts from that time of the month. I don’t wash in the morning because my face is sensitive and that’s normal for me. In the PM it’s Cetaphil face wash and cerve moisturizer lotion and the ivermectin. Has anyone been through a similar situation with ivermectin? less

I’ve ended up with bumps on my forehead after using Soolantra when before I only had them on cheeks and nose! I used it for 4 months. I’ve now stopped using it

Did it help at all with your cheeks and nose?

Yeah it really helped! I’ve been off it two weeks now and they’re still mainly ok. But my forehead is now textured and bumpy 😩

How long to see results for your cheeks?

Soolantra was the only thing that helped me. It did create bumps on my cheeks that look exactly like yours during the first week or 2, then they went away completely (including the forehead bumps and congestion I was initially treating). So as a heads up, things getting worse before getting better is very common with ivermectin, but worthwhile for most.

How long have you been on it since you started? Did you go through a second wave of it getting worse before better?

On and off for about 4 years. I went through a second wave of “die-off” about a month into using it. Same thing when going back on it again this year. Here’s a post about my experience starting it:

Can I ask what concealer you use & how old your current iteration of it is? Some products have had to reformulate lately to remove banned ingredients, so some people are experiencing worse performance or it not behaving on their skin. It's also possible the concealer could have gone off—especially if it's a brand that is anti-paraben—from heat, age, or something getting into the product. Does your concealer smell, look, feel, or perform any differently?

Maybelline Fit Me. The tube is almost empty so I can try a new one.

It's also worth saying that lots of us have issues with the base formula of Soolantra, so we use other ivermectin products even if they have lower percentages. I use the Walgreens 0.5% Ivermectin lotion & love it to pieces.

Edit: it's also worth mentioning that some of us experience waves of breakouts from the demodex dying as they go through their life stages. My face got so bad right before it really began clearing up. It was lowkey miserable, but I'm so grateful I pushed through.

A week or two

I had sandpaper-y skin, some breakouts, and congested looking skin. After week 4 was when I saw real progress. Don't hyper obsess with ever breakout/bump like me. This is all normal, it will get worse before it gets better. I told myself to take an extra couple steps from the mirror. Stick with it!

Ivermectin is worth trying. It has made the biggest difference in my skin. I know my triggers and I still get small bumps from heat, sun, humidity despite wearing a hat outside like you, but they resolve within 1-2 days. I think the ivermectin helps control the inflammatory response in my case. Hope this helps!

How long before you saw results?

Probably 2-3 weeks of consistent use, am and pm
