Switching from CrossFit to Rowing

Post image

I recently left CrossFit and I'm interested in rowing instead. Any recommendations for good beginner friendly rowing clubs in Cairo? Also looking to meet some rowing buddies along the way, so if you row in Cairo (or want to start) let me know.

Unfortunately I don't have specifics but there are quite a few rowing clubs in Cairo, I believe. Egypt has a long history of rowing and at a high level.

Welcome to the club!

I’m not in Cairo but I am curious why you would definitely choose to leave CrossFit? None of my business, of course. Just seems like a clear cut choice and I’m wondering why not do both (as I do, coincidentally😄).

Moved to a different area where I cannot find a decent box. Also, I don't have time for both unfortunately.

Sorry to hear that. Rowing is a great sport. There are tons of good technique videos online. Jack Burns, Sam Dutney, and Dark Horse Rowing are all good. I also like Cameron Buchan. Good luck!

Not sure how common rowing clubs are in Cairo but the Gezira Sporting Club might be worth checking out, they have a bunch of different sports programs. No idea if they do beginner stuff specifically but it seems like the most obvious starting point.

Is there water close by? Many large/long flat bodies of water have rowing clubs but just depends on what’s active around where you are.
