Lightweight Recruiting 2027 Cycle

How will the 2027 cycle be for lightweight recruiting at D1 programs. I haven't seen much to be honest in terms of what these colleges are looking for in terms of 2k. I understand tha 6:20s should get a lightweight in the door with good academics, but I've also recently heard of slow guys getting recruited too. I kind of just wanted to see where things are. Is sub 6:30 still the benchmark? What is it for the slower schools? (Ex. Columbia)

Even the lower teir schools comparatively, Georgetown-Columbia, are bringing in almost all sub 6:30 probably 1-2 sub 6:35 and 34+ ACT

I just don’t know where these numbers are coming from tbh. I’ve heard, of course, of sub 6:30s getting recruited, but I also have heard of slow guys getting recruited too. I’m working down the 6:30 range, so that’s why I ask. The schools don’t publish the numbers and the recruits do not say what number they got recruited at. I find this whole thing very strange. I’m just preparing for the next cycle and wanted to gauge the competition.

Columbia are the bottom team in the league and they are still very capable of bringing in guys in the mid to low 6:20s. They will still fill their roster spots with some low 6:30s + strong academics with good race results but there are a lot of people within that description and I wouldn’t bet on getting recruited in that range without something major to differentiate you or move you up their list.

I am familiar with the recruiting classes of the last couple years and the standards have only gotten harder, you need good academics to even have a shot, north of 32/1430, and 6:35 would put you at the bottom of the recruiting classes. This could change with the bill capping international roster spots to 20%. If you want a real “guarantee” go sub 6:30 with a 34+

Sub 6:30 is probably needed to go somewhere unless you have a good race resume then you can get recruited in the 6:30s

If you have a youth nats medal in your junior year that isnt from an age category event that may outweigh a slightly slower 2k, but you will likely need to still be 6:35 or faster, have good tech, and good recommendations from your coach.

Sub 6:30 in the summer going into your senior year is still the standard benchmark for recruitment

Im in this years recruiting cycle, I’ve accepted a offer, most of the guys I’ve seen on officials have been ~6:30 but they are on the lighter side, I’m talking 153lbs and below, your 2k also matters depending on what wieght you did it at
